The warrior persona ... tucked safely behind a plate of glass ... break in case of emergency. Yeah, that could be disconcerting for unprepared enemies.

No warrior wants to go back to that place. A battle mind is what keeps you alive and others not. And if that monster stays on the porch forever then it's a good rest of your life. But reality is petty and that dog will always be there to hunt if needed.

Paul Linebarger, a science fiction writer of many works, under many pseudonyms, wrote many history's, biographies and training manuals. The God son of Sun Yat-sen, did many covert operations in China during World War Two working for the precursor of the CIA and after. At the height of his science fiction writing career, he was a university professor who, is said to have, brought his cats to his lectures and lectured directly to them. He wrote a book on Psycological Warefare, and, as far as I am concerned, may, have been a model for Paul Atreides in Dune. In Warefare book, he suggests, the retired soldier study Psychological Warefare. I have no experience, I think that would have been a better use of the hero's time...worlds upon worlds to explore taking up time if you want to be productive unrolling the golden thread. What do you think? I know just enough to be wrong AND get in trouble!

not really this is more of a universal soldier take. a heavely modififed human who left the ultra secret group the world knew of the hero just not who he was. the general unable to duplicate this success wanted revenge for a failed career. so someone more average nonassumeing that can blend in hide in pain sight. have not been big on movies for years so my refrences will be out dated but should give you my idea. jean claude von dame, young bruce willis, jaleel white.

@Warutteri3 жыл бұрын
Plenty of emotional connections and character development for such a short story in my humble opinion, and a pretty amazing story at that. I do hope the author will write sequels for the story as the idea is interesting and has a lot of potential for a pretty amazing longer running HFY story but even this smaller story is amazing on its own.

@@carlfranz6805 a soldier became a cyborg then became a war hero then became a civilian. PTSD and being the deadliest thing on two legs is a bitch so he constructed another mind to control the body and live his life because the PTSD war hero knew of he stayed in control he’s prolly end up killing a whole lot of people. 2nd mind called on war hero 3 times. 1st to kill some thugs. 2nd time to deal with the war hero’s past. And 3rd time for vengeance after 2nd minds wife and children were killed in an alien raid. War hero is a weapon 2nd mind is a man. Both live in the same body
@Warutteri3 жыл бұрын
@@wildwikedwanderer1208 You put that so perfectly that I really don't have much to add... Maybe just how it's a beautifully tragic story about how horrible experiences changed a man so much he was unable to live his life like a normal person anymore, and how unfortunately the second personality he constructed to at least in some manner to be able to live on without going insane or becoming a danger to the society he had fought so hard to protect had all that he cared about taken from him and thereby both men lost their chance at a normal happy life...

It Does not work that way. Once the warrior goes to sleep, you have a hell of a time waking him. The body is weak, reflexes slow,senses dull... You can keep fit as a civilian, but fighting fit, with lightning reflexes and razor senses, demands constant maintenance. It is not a state , it is a process that never completes. Once you send the killer to sleep, you are prey. Accept and Believe. I will not dox myself to make a point, so take it on faith., or don't. You decide.
