A deep dive into Sideshow's 1/4 scale statue of Abraham Van Helsing as played by Peter Cushing in the 1958 movie which cemented Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee and Hammer Studios as the undisputed masters of horror.

Another nice-looking statue. Always liked Peter Cushing. Much like my other favorites--Christopher Lee and Vincent Price--he always seemed to have such a great time playing his roles. Plus, I heard he was a genuinely pleasant guy in real life. Carrie Fisher supposedly felt bad delivering her "smelled your foul stench" line in Star Wars because he was so nice. Thanks for sharing part of your amazing collection.

I have been back and forth about whether to get this piece or not. Recently visited Whitstable and had lunch in the Tudor team rooms where Peter Cushing would go every day. They have a picture and a message dedicated to him, placed on a pillar by the table where he used to sit. a true gentleman of cinema. Thanks for the review.

The statue is awesome . The headsculpt is very good . Cushing,s face is not easy to replicate. With the correct lightning would be perfect as we see at the end . The lightning factor is very very important when we expose our figures . The shadows - light combination make this figures comes real .

This is a work of art! Beautiful statue, the headsculpt Is undeniable Peter, just a bit stylized, I wouldn't call it cartoony nor caricature like, just a representation done in the personal art style of the sculptor, I saw in person the Dirty Harry statue from Sideshow and it also has that unique style by the same sculptor, I believe, , maybe us collectors are by now used to the Hot Toys hyper realistic scultp and paint style, so the more artistic style like sideshows sculptures looks slightly off

I think it works. Cushing's face is almost a caricature to start with. The yes are definitely a bit big for the face though. But again it all works in context.

Initially I thought your KP 1/6th scale had arrived😂. I totally agree with you picking up this guy to compliment Dracula .. you don’t have laurel without hardy😂. Terrific companion piece I like it a lot. I fully understand that it’s not a hyper real JND piece or a Prime One offering but none the less I really really like it in the round. They are such cult films and revered actors aren’t they, although sometimes when I think of Peter Cushing it’s him on Morecombe and Wise wanting to be paid🤣 I think you and I are of the generation to remember this😀. Thanks for your thoughts on this fantastic statue, really enjoyable video… so so close to the 1k , within the next few videos I am sure😀Have a great weekend and I will not let Scotland loosing 5 - 1 upset me😡

Good to hear from you as always👍 Absolutely 💯 it’s not Prime 1 or PCS level but the fact that it’s Sideshow and has been done to a budget almost adds to the charm and like you say what is Christopher Lee without Peter Cushing? Indeed I am old enough to remember his many appearances on Morecombe & Wise in search of his elusive fee🤣 a meticulous actor, devoted husband, true gentleman and smart enough not to take himself too seriously. Hopefully the KP deluxe set will arrive soon and we can walk down the Hammer hall of fame one more time👍 I feel your pain on that score line but there’s along way to go yet👍 have a great weekend, take care of yourself and happy collecting.

Beautiful piece. Outfit is stunning. Head sculpt is fine slightly caricaturist. As usual with Sideshow the paint app is flat & it really shouldn't be at these prices. My premium Raiders Indy (although old) had an awful paint application. Had it redone & it is fantastic now. Think this review has help me decide on the kaustic figures instead

A wonderful statue in most ways but yes I think the head sculpt isn't quite right....and perhaps a gestalt of the Horror of Dracula Cushing and an older Cushing..the outfitting and authenticity is fabulous though.

Sideshow stuff is so inconsistent, they nail some elements and fail on others. The Lee statue is definitely better than Cushing.

I would have to agree with you the head sculpt on Lee is definitely better, but they have nailed the outfits, proportions & poses on both…a real shame almost a 10/10 but dropped the ball.
