You can also get a product used in the aquarium trade that will neutralize chlorine and chloromins used in most tap water. It's completely safe with the products you are using. 👍🏻🙂 The other product you're using that you just spray on, you need to thoroughly saturate the entire surface for it to work better. 😅 I use it here with our old area of the cemetery with excellent results. I usually do 2 sprayings though, seems to work better. 👍🏻

Supposedly, both cleaners use the same type of quaternary ammonia cleaner. Probably the difference is the brush. The brush gives cleaner a head start by removing the top layer. Try the Wet&Forget with a brush and see if it makes a difference.

Really interesting comparison with the D2 and the Wet and Forget! It looks like D2 is the winner so far. I had to laugh at myself a bit, when Other Robert's spraying style was too haphazard, and he kept missing spots! Focus, Other Robert!! More pressure! Cover one surface before moving on to the next! You can also use the wet and forget just like the D2(with a plastic paint scrapper and brush) and it will come out good. I have noticed with the Wet and forget that even with the spray it and leave it method you may have to spray it again for really bad headstones. Like the ones with the balck algea.

I use W&F to clean my ancestors stone and it worked good if you apply it in the right conditions and are very patient. I do it on warm spring days or early fall when there is no rain in the forecast and the surface is dry. Do a 1:5 chemical water ratio and spray a coat and wait 10 minutes and do a second coat and let it set ( it needs 5 hours on the surface with no water to settle in ). After that let nature take it's course but it can take a couple of months for it to start showing the results.

I also know a guy that “pre treats” all of his stones with W&F then comes back later and cleans with D2. The W&F does kill some biologcal growth and aids his D2 is his theory. @IrishAnnie
@IrishAnnie Жыл бұрын
Never use a brush attachment on a drill to clean any stone. Be patient. D2 is the best and it will take time. It’s activated by the rain. It’s incredible the difference before and after. I spray D2 on my stepping stones beside our house. Works great. Wet area, spray. Let it sit 5 minutes. Starts scrubbing. Rinse. Spray on one last coat. Leave it. Best time to use it is after a nice rain. It will be absorbed in to the concrete or stone much better.

I think you will get a variety of changes depending on the amount of moss, algae etc that has accumulated over time. We use Wet & Forget for cleaning most things outside here in New Zealand. Probably because the product is made here. Usually an annual “spring clean” will keep everything nice and bright. Wonder if over time and with repeated treatments the headstones will continue to improve. It is certainly a lot less labour intensive and therefore easier to apply. Would love to get into our local cemetery to start cleaning some of the older graves.
