@@ajpdeschenes not true, in 02-03 Lemieux led the league in pts till he got injured. Played ten games the next year than the lockout happened. He came back in 05-06 hoping he could not have troubles with injuries and was nealry putting up a point per game before his back started to become to much and he left mid season. He didnt come back just for sod, he came back because he was still the best player in the nhl in 2003 and it was only 2005.

@@sensfan5345 Maybe Crosby was not the only reason he stuck through the lockout, but he definitely wanted to pass the torch to Crosby and that was a big motivation for him to play one more season. He had to retire because of atrial fibrillation.

Its amazing that these two generational talents got a brief chance to play together. I didn’t appreciate it as much at the time (wasn’t sold on Crosby at first)

@@segasys1339 There's been a lot of overhyped players that have failed. Some even had numbers as impressive as Crosby's junior numbers. There's also the Eric Lindros thing, where his career was severely shortened due to a bad habit of not keeping his head up.

it boggles my mind how Mario was able to put up the numbers he did in his comeback from 2000-2006...the guy can barely skate and moves like my grandpa. it just goes to show how ridiculously talented he is.

He could fly when he was younger, and he has such power and reach too. By this age he just floated around the ice and used anticipation, vision, and his amazing skills. I miss watching Mario.. I've never seen any player that dominant

I played against his brother Elaine... guy was slow... like just average speed, but his stick work was INSANE. He could dangle a puck around you and in front of you and it was almost impossible to get him off the puck.

@@patientmental875 A little below, and his +/- was taking a hit. That's when Gretzky left too, when he went below a point a game and his +/- was not doing well. Shows how unselfish he is, as he was only 10 goals from 700. Same with Gretzky, he was only 6 from 900.

I actually searched for this on purpose. I was googling to see Crosby draft time. Then I saw Mario was around past it. Made me wonder if they ever hooked up for a goal together. Good to see this exists. Around 1997 there was a 99% chance Mario was done. Amazing he actually played at age 40. The first Brett Favre, Roger Clemens lol
