You continue to have a keen eye for the little skills that make a massive difference in Crosby's game. All of your breakdowns show why he is such a great player, but I think this one showcases best why he is so dominant. Building off of your compilation of puck protection, this behind the back feed (protecting the puck with his body) is near impossible to defend. The man makes a living on his backhand - no one does it better. Distrubution...shooting...one hand or 2 ;)
@liammiles76017 жыл бұрын
Pavel Barber I know what your saying, I always try to watch videos like this and practice doing them in team practices or games. I've been getting better at back hand passes there really effective.

I never got the chance to play minor hockey as a kid. But I've played as an adult for the last, almost 20 years now, and these videos by xXLaflammeXx have really helped me understand the game and become a much better player by working on positioning and general awareness of what's going on around me. The This video and Puck Protection one is my favourite and I've tried to model myself after that moreso than working on fancy handwork or even improving my shot specifically.
@leafs91067 жыл бұрын
Crosby constantly is looking around him keeping eyes on what's happening and where everyone is. You can see right before he receives the puck he's scouting his and watching for teammates. The IQ is what separates him from the rest.

Agreed. Also, big credit for finding all kinds of examples. It's great to see scoring AND non-scoring plays. Sometimes the scoring chance is just as well set-up, but not finished off and you can see how much chaos it creates for defenders.

@pdubcentral7 жыл бұрын
Dmc9393 I second that! Would love to see his best defensive plays. He makes a lot of really important steals in his end that lead to goals at the other. And you're not many people talk about it either even though it's a really strong part of his game. One comes to mind, his return from concussion goal. He comes back gets the puck behind his own net and then darts up the ice for the pass and scores. Such an awesome two way play
@mmmshuddup7 жыл бұрын
Yes! He’s also a master at takeaways and overall defensive awareness
@Connor86096 жыл бұрын
I think his biggest strength on defense is not only his ability to protect the puck , but he also never rushes to get rid of it, its always calculated because he's sure he can just protect it anyway.

The compliments you pay are well-deserved but I'd prefer to see more of Crosby. I am absolutely smitten with how next level Crosby is in his game, and I just truly want to see every nuance memorialized, especially while we still have the great honor and privilege of seeing Crosby out on the ice. It's a true labor of love and I, for one, accept no substitutes. I am a born and bred USA kid and a Bruins fan, to boot. I started rooting for the Penguins on 7-31-2005, because I followed a young phenom from Nova Scotia who was wasting grown men as a child and frankly, I've never looked back. The 31st of July, 2005, was the day Sidney Crosby was drafted into the NHL. He. Was. 17. A. Kid. And he's just delivered, and delivered, and delivered, in ways that take my breath away and bring actual tears to my eyes. People can jump aboard the Crosby train and join us where life is GOOD and our hero performs miracles on ice, elevating the game by performing wizardry like never before even imagined, much less performed by others, or, respectfully, they can make their own highlights and compilations videos! I did not intend for that to sound harsh, so peace and respect to you, and happy viewing. But, #GoSid! :)

Crosby can see without seeing, for "long and short / shape each other; / high and low / depend on each other; / note and voice / make the music together; / before and after / follow each other. / That's why the wise soul / does without doing, / teaches without talking." (Tao Te Ching, chapter 2) What I'm trying to say is Sidney Crosby is so good at hockey he's achieved enlightenment by following the Way. This guy is a Jedi with a hockey stick instead of a lightsaber.

True Story: Sidney Crosby went to Hogwarts and graduated in the top of his class in Ice Magic with specialties in puck skills and skating. There is no other even so much as in his league. Waching Crosby is like watching another, more evolved species of human. No one else can do what he does. He is the Christ of the Ice. Or some equivalent therein, to appease those of other religions.

Can McDavid do that?
@injuriesfightback27607 жыл бұрын
Exactly. McDavid is a major talent but Crosby's genius and multi-faceted skills set just leave everyone in the dust - even the greats of the game of today and throughout time. Crosby is on another level. He has no peers. He is in a league of his own. The one sad, sobering note here is that, truth be told, Crosby has learned the hard way to strategically tone down and scale back his game because bitches be tryna put him in the actual morgue in order to trip him up, get the puck, stop a shot, or win a game (via illegal plays and outright cheating) and some actual Piece of Shit flunkie pest would rather put Crosby out of the game and maybe even paralyze him, kill him, or end his career with some jacked up, illegal shit, because they can NEVER beat Crosby fairly. A good compilation video to make would be Cheap/Illegal Shots on Sidney Crosby with a breakdown, slow-mo, and various camera angles. It's just not possible to beat Crosby fair and square. He's too good. Crosby ensured that years ago when he spent thousands upon thousands of hours every YEAR perfecting his game and giving him an edge, even against cheap shots and shady players/teams. Have you seen the clips of Crosby at age 14-15, taking on and wasting opponents age 17-20+? Holy. Fucking. Shit. That's all I can say about him as a young phenom. It's just breathtaking to see. Over time, the gap has only grown wider with Crosby's continued dedication to excellence and development as a virtuoso talent and teammate and leader on and off the ice. We have a joke in my household that Crosby ACTUALLY trained at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry because the stuff he does on the ice is straight magic. No other human is capable of even DREAMING the stuff that Sidney Crosby does with fluidity and mastery, time and again. I, myself, have just about had it up to HERE with disgust that the NHL holds and witholds as many calls as they do and allows so much bullshit to fly, because I feel, strike that, I *know* we would see more of the majestic, breathtaking, once in a lifetime stuff from SidTheKid if only the NHL and refs would step up and do their DAMN JOBS and make sure that it's ACTUAL ICE HOCKEY being played out there, and not some Greatest Mob Hits On Ice bullshit wherein the puck is ourright ignored by the opponent in favor of just actually criminally assaulting the player (aka Crosby) with the puck. Yes, hockey is a physical game, and I *relish* those aspects. Crosby built his majesty and mastery around that. But when mutherf*ckers be picking their sticks up and tryna clothesline him, or give him a proctology exam, or put their stick through his actual ribs and perforate a lung, part of me rolls my eyes and says, okay, enough of this, just play hockey, asshole, and stop being a pest.
