I lost my son. My first born son. He was a healthy beautiful 3 month old boy. I haven’t gotten my son’s autopsy but I know it was sids. Such a F*** cruel world we live in. A mother and Father should never lose a child. He passed away 7/30/21, a date that forever changed us. I miss you son. I love you so much mama’s boy 💔

Our baby died to Sudden Unexplained Infant Death some decades ago. No smoking, no drinking household. The baby was in it's own crib but a muslin was placed at the back of the crib to stop his oiled head sticking onto the plastic at the top of the carrycot. This was found bunched near to his face. Keep a clear cot. It's not worth the risk. Brave Dad for speaking out. Brave mother for supporting her husband. The loss is an agony you are never able to recover from.

Apparently, depending on the baby's age, doctors cannot always be 100% sure a baby has died of suffocation etc.. so they call it SIDS. But the cause can be that, it is just not known 100%. like he said - he didn't mean to fall asleep with his son. That's not always preventable, babies don't settle in their cots, they need held to settle. Add to that, overtired new parents, desperate for sleep, take the baby out of its cot to settle it. ... Its very very difficult to leave a crying baby to settle in its own cot when it cant settle on its own. Every parent does what he did :(

Exactly, which is why the AAP needs to get on board with the Safe Sleep 7 and focus of mitigating the risk of cosleeping rather than abstinence- which does not work. New parents are overtired and safely sleeping on the same surface as a baby CAN happen, if you take the proper steps.

Noni T They give these guidelines to help prevent suffocation and asphyxiation (and you should follow them). I don't know why they lump it all in with SIDS. The cause of true SIDS is unknown. They think it has something to do with the brain stem. There is no way to "prevent SIDS" If they knew how to prevent it, it wouldn't still be happening. All you can do is your best. If you do everything right and still happens, you can't blame yourself. It happened to our son Zane on 1/23/2010. We even got his heart started again, but his brain stopped working. It's like a light switch. It just shuts off. He was taken off of life support on 1/25/2010. I blamed myself, wondering what I did wrong. Now I know that it was something not developed correctly in his brain. We still don't know why it happens though. Try your best to have peace and just enjoy your children.i have faith in Jesus and I know we'll see Zane again, so there is no longer fear for me. I wish you the best!

Suffocation is the most common known cause for sids .. I once was near to get my 2 weeks baby suffocated when I was very tired and slept while breastfeeding him .. my breast was closing his nose and mouth for a minute or so .. thanks Allah I woke up in shock because I knew that might happen .. this is why my mother would woke up from her sleep with me all the time to wake me and prevent me from sleeping while breast feeding .. babies get hungry all the time in their first 3 months and this is exhausting thing .. even if you know sids you can not prevent it but you should be aware and have a very light sleep and check over your baby every now and then to ensure he is ok especially when you breastfeed him or when baby reach the age of rolling over 😑.. I feel sorry for the parents who lost their child to sids ..and I hope they will stop blaming themselves because it's a really hard thing to prevent.

Maybe because we don’t teach people how to safely sleep with babies we don’t end up doing it safely but on accident because parents are exhausted and have high expectations of being able to breastfeed and keep getting up through the night which just isn’t possible. So they accidentally fall asleep on armchairs and sofas w babies while fighting sleep. I don’t think that putting baby in their own room in a crib and letting them bawl their heads off is good sleep hygiene either and I don’t believe that that is safe for them.

This comment is cruel and not true. Research shows that most SIDS deaths occur between 2 and 5 months, are often boys, and are babies that have not been breastfed and do not like pacifiers. You can put your baby on their back, alone and in their crib. But one day, they will begin to roll over onto their stomach. Sometimes, and no one is sure why, they forget to breath or lift their head. My perfectly healthy, well-loved grandson died at 4.5 months. His parents obeyed all the SIDS rules, which also included not overheating him. There are also statistics it is more likely to occur in winter and early spring. The dad in this video is trying to help others, and it can happen to anyone. You uncompassionate, ignorant person. It can and it does happen to the best of parents, and it is the most heartbreaking thing anyone can ever experience.

You did not survive SIDS. SIDS is a 'cause' of death given only when an extensive autopsy comes back with no tangible reason that would send a healthy child to a morgue with no warning. SIDS is given as a cause of death when a pathologist can hold your child's brain in their hands and know that the only thing wrong with that child is the fact they are in a morgue. Fuck outta here with your bullshit.
