This movie is titled Tobol. It's about the conquest of Siberia, the flying ninjas are not Mongolians, they are Dzhungars, the ancestors of modern Kalmyks or Western Mongolians, something like that, idk. The events that take place in this film happened in the early 18th century, during a war between Russia and Sweden, and you can actually see a man wearing the Swedish uniform. Although it is a mistery how he manages to fire a gun without a gun carriage standing right behind it and survive. Probably the flying ninjas had taught him.

@@MrRedsjack From its first use somewhere in southwestern France sometime in the first half of the 17th century, the genius of the invention spread far and wide. The Mongolian composite bow (in the hands of an expert) was a far superior weapon to the muskets of that era. The chief advantage of the musket was that it was easier to train conscript soldiers to use them, whereas shooting a bow accurately took a much higher degree of skill and training. In the case of Mongol horse archers, that meant constant practice in horsemanship and archery from an early age.
@MrSeekerOfPeace4 жыл бұрын
Its such a pity that the First Nations tribes in America couldnt develop a similar type of Composite bow.
@moredistractions4 жыл бұрын
@@MrSeekerOfPeace It wouldn't have made a difference. Near the end they had state of the art repeating rifles and still were generally no serious match for the European invaders. The Native Americans usually operated in loose tribal groups and never really had the sense of unified organization and discipline to consistently defend their lands. The Mongols by contrast formed large, very highly disciplined and well organized field armies led by cunning and aggressive generals and hence tended to obliterate all opponents in their path, at least up until a certain point in history. It's interesting how Mongolia went from being this gigantic, multi-continent empire and the world's preeminent military power to being the tiny little backwater nation in Central Asia it is today.
@MrSeekerOfPeace4 жыл бұрын
@@moredistractions It is determined now that a large amount of Native populations succumb to diseases. And if composite bows were already a part of First Nations arms. Something the Native populations took pride in when fighting their opponents.

Basically if the diseases didn’t obliterate all of the native population & they had composite bows then the US would not exist as it did today. The natives would have put a far stiffer resistance under these circumstances possibly keeping the Indian lands Indian
@scottloar4 жыл бұрын
@@michaelweston409 Before the advent of the Walker Colt the pistol and muzzle-loaders were no match for the bow, especially in the hands of mounted warriors like the Comanche who could loose a dozen arrows before a man could reload pistol or muzzle-loader. A century before in the Eastern Woodlands both carried muzzle-loaders of equal quality but in close combat would be reduced to sword versus hatchet. Those Europeans who had considerable experience of the tribes - especially in the mid-18th century as adopted members - noted that in warfare the Europeans would suffer losses above 20:1 and without the crush of numbers in the field could not gain success. In truth, what defeated the tribes was their inability to sustain large numbers in the field; again, the tribes inability to sustain large numbers in the field ( e.g. the gathering immediately before the Battle if the Little Bighorn which fielded perhaps 2,000 or more warriors was unprecedented and beyond the experience of soldiers, plainsmen and scouts).The Indian Wars on the North American continent which lasted from the early 16th through to the late 19th century were won by superior numbers. The US Federal government sponsored numerous trips to Washington D.C. of leaders of whichever tribes were the most recalcitrant at the time to impress upon them the might and numbers of the US. On their return many were disbelieved by the tribe, some like Red Cloud thoroughly shaken by the knowledge, and a few like Sitting Bull refusing to yield in any way. His own relations shoved an arrow through the ears of Sitting Bull's corpse because he would not listen ( yeah, I also recall the same was done to Custer's corpse but the Army narration notes the corpse was not mutilated in anyway save the penis cut off and stuffed into the mouth). What proved true in the Indian Wars as on the Eastern Front in WWII is quantity can become a quality of its own. This means millions of square acres could not be preserved by roaming bands of 150 or so persons which on occasion and for a brief season could coalesce as several bands into a tribe. In truth, as the tribes themselves well knew, they were overcome by the numbers.

This is the Imperial Russian fortress of Omsk, just after the expedition ordered by Peter the Great in early 18th century. Actually the attack was on 1716. The mongols where the Dzhungar khanate which was also in war with China's Qing Dinasty. Important was Semyon Remezov, a cartographer, probably the first one of Russia. This gave the first impressions of the religion expansion, tribes and geographical structures of siberia. The clash in numbers and technology is great here. Nicholas Conroy as a russian i can tell that we don’t really call ourselves europeans neither asians. We call ourselves just russians. By the way, in russian language there are two similar, but different ways of saying “russian”: «россиянин», what means russian citizen and «русский» what means nation. «россиянин» is not optionally russian by nation, because as you said, there are a lot of nations living on the territory of Russia. I hope you will understand at least something)
@mdokuch964 жыл бұрын
Majority of population is concentrated in so-called "European Russia" which geographically is Europe and Russian core territory. Majority of population is Russian (not in the term of citizenship but in their nationality). Genetically ethnic Russians are proved to be East Europeans, having own group there or something (not a specialist in genetics and don't remember that article well), but definitely NOT Mongoloid. Traditional Russian religion is Orthodox Christianity which is European thing. You just have to understand that Russia is the post-imperial state where for long time monarchist regime didn't care, who you are by ethnicity until you are loyal to your oath. Then came the communists who officially were internationalists and while "some nationalities were more equal than the others", official position was that there is only one nationality - "soviet man" (or woman). Current claims about "Russia is not Europe" are politically motivated and borderline fascist just because Europeans once claimed something like this right before massacring ~27 Million Soviets (calling them Russians anyway). When we speak about Russians who claim the same - it is just right populism based on post-Cold War revanchism and theories of "white emigration" of 20th century, and that populism tries to justify Russia not developing in the normal democratic direction because "we have our own way" (no, we don't). Long story short - we are Europeans. Just right at the border with real Asia, which of course affected us a lot throughout our history.

V DOG This movie is abt the Pugachev Rebellion in Russia in the 1700s so based off that the equipment and everything looks accurate but the title is wrong as those are Cossacks and not mongols....
@VitaliiSavinov-t9o4 жыл бұрын
@@samanvithveeravelli7512 Wtf are you talking about? Pugachev's rebellion took place in 1770ies in region of Volga and Urals. Sure, cossacs, as well as Kalmyks and Tatars, took part in these events. But they had completely different uniforms. This movie is about colonel Bugholtz's expedition to eastern Siberia in 1714-1716, guys in medieval armour are Djungars. And yea, these uniforms are accurate for them

God I fuckin love the sound effect that the snapping of that one guy's bow made when he shot that Russian guard at the very beginning of this clip, it's just so badass sounding. And by the way, for those interested, this is actually a really good film as a whole, with some great battle/action/fight scenes with the above clip is very much exemplary of.
