The communication I think was clear among the Italians Spaniards and Portuguese. The German Teutonic were out on the communications. They had to make do.

Ya, the Romance languages were still fairly understandable to each other at this time I think. And all the English Nobels spoke French so they were good for communications.

It isn't true you have no women fighting in Islam there are few hadith's about one or more figures fighting although it was not the normality and not suggested but it isn't forbidden per se
