I love the light given to the Imperial Navy - they quite literally, are the first bulwark against enemies of the Imperium. And are the largest of the military formations in the Imperium as well.
@KalashVodka175 Жыл бұрын
I would say second largest, after the Imperial Guard. I imagine that the navy still has trillions of crewmens at it's service, but the IG would just have that much more. However, by sheer military power, I think the Navy as an institution outguns pretty much everyone else in the Imperium, since control of space is control of the battlefield, and the Navy has a larger warfleet than any other institution in the Imperium
@weldonwin Жыл бұрын
@@KalashVodka175 Yet, despite its apparent size and power, the Imperial Navy is frequently stretched thin, with a squadron consisting of a single cruiser and a couple of escorting frigates, being expected to patrol whole sub-sectors of space, containing hundreds of star systems. A situation made worse by it sometimes taking decades or even centuries to build a single cruiser size vessel and many of the battleships are considered irreplaceable.
@KalashVodka175 Жыл бұрын
@@weldonwin It took less than a decade to build a lunar class cruiser in orbit of a feral world (this had included both the set up of an ad hoc shipyard by the admech and the harvest of ressources by locals on the planet) As for battleships we know for a fact that they can still be produced, altho not just anywhere. Edit: Tho if you meant Glorianas and the like its probably that they can’t be produced or won’t be because nothing justify the cost and investment anymore But your comment is still relevant. The navy is stretched thin but part of it is that much of the navy is spread across the entire imperium instead of being focused on an hypothetical frontline. There’s no real other choice since threats can come anywhere… but on top of that there are active frontlines requiring surplus ships to be sent in earnest preventing sector fleets to be reinforced excepted when absolutely necessary. Still its not as bad as one could expect because individual planet and star systems can have their own system defense flotilla, generally composed of inferior, smaller ships incapable of warp capable (see defense monitors and the like) but also bolstered by powerful defense stations and orbital guns; so there is generally enough leeway for the navy to respond to important areas before things gets too messy. And if things really hit the fan, mothballed assets can be brought out of storage
@eddymercan74872 жыл бұрын
Can't decide if the overuse of "battleship" is poetic license or a Navy scribe trying to make the defence look more impressive by bloating the size of the Chaos fleet lol. As usual the mix of "from the source" and your own details make for a smoothly told story that flows nicely; and unlike a lot of people the details you add fit nicely in with the general tone and narrative of the wider war on Vraks.

Its definitely one of the two considering the "infadel class battleships" are considered as raiding ships/escorts in other things such as battlefleet gothic
@mjburden80862 жыл бұрын
@@midamulti-tool I interpret that as them being classified as "war-time navy vessels" and not them being of battleship size.
@eddymercan74872 жыл бұрын
@@mjburden8086 Most likely how it was intended, only problem with that in terms of clarity is that ship-types are pretty rigidly used by the official lore. It's a bit like referring to a massive but rather speedy Desolator-class battleship as a raider just because it's faster and a bit more lightly armed than most other battleships, you know?

Admiral Rasiak was a brave man and an excellent officer of the Imperial Navy. With minimal ressources, barely a fraction of the sector's battlefleet under his command, he still managed to slow down the enemy fleet, that contained over 14 ships (including at least 1 cruiser and 1 straight up BATTLESHIP)
@quack9355 Жыл бұрын
Judging on what will arrive in the next part of the Siege of Vraks, Janovich better add a small pause, heavy thumping sound and its Iconic horn when the "Thing" landed just so we can feel the awe of our beloved Kriegsman. I have one complaint about the siege of Vraks, and it has nothing to do with this fantastic video itself. If there is a war of attrition being fought for basically the control of the entire planet, I feel like the death toll for the big push should've been much higher. Considering the US army alone fields about 450,000 men, I feel like the big push ought to have caused the Kriegers to lose closer to 10 million men rather than the 1 million proposed in this summary. Great video nonetheless, your stellar narration has earned you a new subscriber Janovich!
