Amazing, Kelly. I've been going thru IPS as well and that's a great find for only $300. Hope I can find something a bit smaller than that though. I'd spend too much time cleaning it! But you found yourself a really nice place at a great price. And only a 6 month lease? Awesome!

I just LOVE the ice cream that they make in front of you on the street. It is the best ice cream I have ever had!! Our hotel in Siem Reap was $20/night. I also like the Red Piano restaurant--it has great steaks.

Yes and yes. I liked this place very much so I rented it. $300 is a good price. It was listed at $330 but I got a deal. The place is only 5 years old. If it was like 15, it would probably be a bit cheaper. Thanks for the comment and for watching my videos !!

We used to go to SR all the time before COVID hit as we live in Thailand. However, we noticed over the years how SR has been growing too modern with a Hard Rock Cafe, International hotel(s) and now a new airport that's way out of town. Is it still grotty and bohemian that we fell in love with or is it too touristy now?

That is a little difficult to say for 2 reasons. 1. It is subjective. I have been traveling SE Asia since 1976. Every place is touristy. 2. It depends on where you stay and where you hang out. Angkor Wat, Pub Street, and Sok San Rd will be touristy for sure. Funky Lane is still pretty much funky. Just a note, As for the Hard Rock Cafe, it is pretty much dead. One day, I walked past it, and they were playing Country and Western music. Doesn't that just Achy Breaky your heart?? Thanks for the comment and for watching the videos !!!

Good questions. Depending on the time of year, the utilities will change. Last month (April) was hot as h3ll. if I never used the A/C my electric bill would be about $30. If I had them on 24/7 (I've known people) it would be $250 and up. Not many dryers in Cambodia. Washers yes. We hang our clothes on hangers, hang them outside and within an hour or two, they dry, and already hung up !! Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching !!

There are many kinds of bugs here. The most annoying are the mosquitos and small ants. Many bugs seem to come into the house at night but for some reason they all die before the morning. The only bug here that really can bother you physically are the mosquitos.

Depends, the average monthly wage in Cambodia is about $200. That is sometimes for 10 hours a day, 6 days a week. If you only needed a housekeeper in the morning To get things going and clean up from the evening before, and you only need them for a few hours a day, that could be a different story.

Luv that town. Medical must be a consideration for all; especially, an elderly with pulmonary challenges.

It is a great town. Most health issues can be taken care of here but things like heart surgury are a different story. If you have a problem with COPD or the likes, no where in SE Asia will be safe for you. Starting about November and well into April, The farmers in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia will start burning their fields to clear it off and have it ready for planting in the rainy season. The worst times for the air polution in Cambodia seems to be Feb, Marchish time. The redish/orange sun will disappear before it goes down over the horizon. Even so, if it is not in the burning time, people here in Cambodia burn things. Whatever is burnable and not worth anything get burnt. Not much garbage collection services here, so burnable trash (and sometimes not burnable) is burnt. Twice I have had to rewash my laundry because someone nearby was burning trash after I hung mine out to dry and the wind blow it in my direction. So if you have pulmonary issues, do your due diligence before making the big move over here. My friend had these problems and when it is smoky here in SE Asia, he goes down to South America. Well, there really is no retirement visa here. But you can get an extended stay visa for up to one year and just renew it every year. Just don't come in with a tourist visa. You must come in under an "E" for extended visa. Don't get that "E" visa confused with the E(electronic) visa. Do your own Due Diligence on their website. Good luck and thanks for watching. Oh, the 12mo. Visa costs me $280 yr.
