"You could tell it took a lot of time and effort to put this meal together like he made it just for me." Strong premise, well-delivered, bit cliche with the writing at times, but poems like this can drive home the point as good as any other. Loved how she captured every rapist excuse and the entire flawed mindset. Also, who brings steak to lunch at work lol.

I don’t think the writing’s cliché, I think it’s in a conversational prose form. I think the way she combines the forms of storytelling and poetry in a unique way. To me the clichéd elements are intentionally mocking rape culture which is like a broken record.

I literally had a class over consent today and this popped into my recommendations. I really freaking liked this cause she never even mentioned the word rape or anything relating to it but through the metaphors it’s so clear that this is implying it. I love it even more that the gender roles are “reversed” the stereotype is that it’s girl who are “asking for it” yet in this one it’s not.

Such an amazing poem and delivery! I unfortunatley recently experienced this and even those who I thought were my closest friends are putting all of the blame on me for not saying the word stop or get off me. Not to mention I was in restraints, and this guy was dating one of these friends so I'm now completely ostracized from the group :))) Things are bad.
