I solo'd at age 63 - the best day of my life! I still get goosebumps when I think of it and watch the video again. Congrats, Sienna. It's too late for me to really do much more with aviation but you have your whole life ahead of you. I basically ran out of money but made my goal, which was to sit alone in an airplane and fly - all up to me - and land (3 times) safely. You go, girl.

@@alsj6159 for me too. Flying at 14 in Dayton Ohio but life happened and ran out of money. FINALLY at 59 my lifetime dream came true. Flying tomorrow and getting checked out in a high performance C182. Then flying to Catalina Island in a couple weeks. I could die tomorrow and be so satisfied. God Bless to all aviators.

I had my first solo July 25th 2024… took me two years due to multiple breaks, lack of funds, and life circumstances but I got that milestone and I’m so happy. Been following siennas journey since the beginning. It’s crazy, there’s no other feeling and you can’t describe it. It’s a rite of passage. It’s crazy how you are so nervous before hand but once you’re there flying, everything starts to merge into one and you’re just thinking only about flying the plane.

I’ve got Dad-level pride for this kid I’ve never met… I hope for all 4 of my kids to find what they are passionate about and chase their dreams like Sienna. I’m 39 and I’m about to take my first solo flight! Trying to set an example for my kids. Life can knock you down, like it did to me a few years ago, but I got up and kept working hard and now I’m finally chasing my dream of flying. Thanks for sharing this journey. Every circuit up to the solo my smile got bigger and bigger. Then when she looked over and no one was in the seat beside her... I just busted out smiling and laughing. I soloed in 1980 and I can see it in my mind just as clear as watching this video. Thank you for letting me be young again for just a little while. Prayers sent for many years of exciting adventures for Sienna.

Looks like she was too surprised about the aircraft's change in weight, and the landings reflect that: more floating and maybe her trying to bring it down too soon (my appreciation, I could be wrong, of course). It's important to recall that weight loss again just before they go solo. She was really focused on the task, and kept doing what she was trained for. Good job, Sienna!

So proud of you, Sienna!!! I'm just now starting my flight training with the AOA Ground School. Found a local Part 61 instructor in my area and starting training soon! 6 total hours in my logbook since 1989 and I'm finally committing to the completion of this goal. Should be a pilot by the time I reach age 60! So encouraged by your progress and your experiences, and the SCENERY WAS GORGEOUS!!! THROTTLE ON!!! How far do you want to progress as a pilot?

Congratulations Sienna! Thanks for letting us experience the road leading up to this point. I've been watching this channel since your discovery flight. The day of your first solo is a day that you will never forget, but there's definitely more fun ahead! I remember back to about a year ago after my first solo, I went up several times with a solo endorsement just for the fun of it. The best part is the perspective that you gain as you progress. When I got my license in December 2023, my first thought was "wow...there's no leash anymore." Anyways, I'm grateful that the weather was nice enough for the "FLYERS" acronym to work out! On a side note, did Chris make a typo on the shirt with the 2023?

Woot!!! Way to go! Thanks for taking us along for the ride, Sienna. “You know what you’re doing, go have fun,” is almost verbatim what my CFI said last summer as he launched me on my solo, and within a few months I’d completed my PPL. First Solo is one you’ll never forget. Congratulations!

That is awesome Sienna. When I solo'd I acted like my instructor was in the seat next to me and talked the whole way through for the first takeoff through landing. It was totally awesome. So proud for you. Next trip should be solo from the start of the flight and pattern work. I was so stoked that I forgot the plan and only did a few maneuvers. It was freedom. Best advice is plan, plan, plan.

Sienna, I never comment on KZbin videos but I wanted to say, around the time you started flying I had just had a bad experience with a stuck aileron on one of my flights with my instructor. At the time I got the vibe that my instructor didn't care about our safety because immediately after takeoff the plane dipped hard to the right and we almost crashed. I said I wanted to go land and do the lesson a different day in a different plane, but my instructor insisted we keep flying and said it was fine as long as we adjust for the plane "pulling" to the right 😂 After that lesson I decided to abandon the idea of becoming a private pilot. But since then, I've been watching your videos and admiring your progress and how great of an instructor Chris is and it's given me the itch to get back to it and finish getting my license, because I see what you've accomplished in only a year or so, and realized how important it is to have a good instructor who cares and isn't just using you to increase their own flight hours. When I get back to it, I'll be finding a different instructor and remembering your videos! Congrats on your first solo and thanks for the inspiration. Happy flying!

Always wanted to learn to fly, never did except for a few minutes in a church members 152. Too old now and lack of funds and health reasons to take training now. Settled for flight Sim setup with Xplane 12, yoke, throttles, and rudder pedals. Enjoy watching these videos for techniques in perfecting my 172 Sim flights.

Sienna, congratulations on your first solo! I’ve been watching from the beginning. I soloed back in 1976 at 16yrs old and still remember it like yesterday. I laughed when you mentioned how the plane handled differently without the extra weight. That’s what I remembered most from the solo. Nervous? Of course a little but the training kicks in and you fly the plane. Great focus, and great job! Best of luck on your aviation journey!

I have tears rolling down my face as I type this after watching this video. I do not know Sienna as I live in Palm Beach, FL …but I feel like I do as I have watched her training.
