I have a friend who only wears lu la roe - it is a cross between bag lady and clown. I tried some of their dresses and each style seems to have its own sizing that doesn’t relate to each other or normal sizing - also I am a firm believer that one size fits none. No lu la roe for me

I read about it, and it turns out they have people working in the art department whose whole job is to design the prints, and they have to meet a really high quota in a small amount of time. so its not even prints that couldnt sell, but just prints that people came up with in like 30 seconds lmao

I did a herbalife diet for like a year when I was 12, because my mom's hairdresser was a rep. Two meals per day were replaced by a protein shake. Obviously, it worked. Obviously, the rebound weight gain was inevitable. It was one major step along the way of me developing a terrible relationship with food and my body. The fact that this woman, who is in no way qualified to give diet advice, pushed my mom and me to put me on such a restrictive diet at age 12 is a good indicator of what this company does.

MichiruEll a couple of girls I know are Herbalife reps and they run a “free” boot camp in a local park (it’s free but they expect you to buy their products) neither of them are personal trainers and they are running pretty intense workouts, a few people I know who went got injured. So I don’t know if Herbalife encourage their reps to sell to children or run workout classes when they aren’t qualified but hearing your story makes me hate them even more.

Katy McDonald I was formerly roped into Herbalife a few years back. Yes, they do encourage for parents to get their kids on their products. As well as the elderly and chronically ill. The rep who got me in told me a particular story when he was visiting a friend who was there for their ailing elderly father and marketing their products to the friend for their ill father for diabetes. Also claimed how said product cured him. It was...awkward and pretty gross when I thought back about it.

When looking for protein shakes after bariatric surgery i asked my nutritionist about this brand and she said its all sodium and really bad for you. That was a very interesting mini-doc. I doubt it will be long before LulaRoe is completely dissolved. They are in multiple, MAJOR lawsuits. They used a shell company to hide assets from creditors, and there is also a class action suit pending on behalf of sellers/former sellers for running an illegal pyramid scheme. These MLMs prey on the vulnerable people, stay-at-home moms who want nothing more than to be able to provide for their families while being there physically for their children, as well as those who are uneducated and in poverty.

My sister introduced me to her friend who sold lipshits, excuse me, sorry, lipsense. Anyway, I specifically told the girl I don’t want to use products that have mineral oil and parabens (I’m not going to get into the pros and cons) anyway she guaranteed and assured me I wouldn’t find those ingredients in the product. I get the lipstick and checked the ingredients and there weren’t any, HOWEVER the seal gloss you have to wear to lock in the color had parabens. I was fuming pissed. Tossed them in the trash, that is $80 in the 🚽. I could’ve bought myself 3 beautiful lipsticks from Bite Beauty which I could never bring myself to buy🤬

As someone with chronic migraines, who used to have epilepsy I cant express enough how important this is. Fragrances and essential oils are major migraine triggers for me. Also my friend once had to get off a bus because some girl sprayed perfume and it gave him a horrible asthma attack where he stopped breathing

'Still pretty shady, but...' No. Honestly it doesn't matter if the quality is ok, good, or great-- you continue to purchase, you support the system. You like the scent? Find something similar, plenty of blogs are devoted to that . The mlm structure targets women, immigrants, the impoverished, religious sects, etc and has conned people out of their life savings. Honest review or not, the issue is the structure. Sounds like MLM but okay podcast and FB group have great resources for anyone that has fallen for any of these companies and their manipulative marketing tactics.

Hi 🙋‍♂️ Can we point out this is how Target, Walmart, Amazon, GAP, etc are all set up... that the people at the top are making the most money and the people who are just starting end up paying to work bc most start at minimum wage? Just... like... are we to boycott everyone who lacks ethics... ie major companies who play a shell game to hide the fact they employ sweat shops and child labor? Or just MLMs?
@theonlykth
@theonlykth 5 жыл бұрын
@@kandijones1421 you can decide to boycott any company that doesn't align with your morals or sensibilities. As it stands, when being paid minimum wage at a business--they don't require you to pay for the product you then have to sell to other people. They don't incentivize having people join under you to again, pre pay for products to try to sell to others. MLMs push to oversaturate a market with downlines, then say it's the independent contractor's fault for not being able to unload their product, but still have them pay fees or purchasing minimums to maintain membership. There's always conflicts of morals/values with any company to be honest. Receiving minimum wage and an option for health benefits with consistent hours and guaranteed pay for hours worked is significantly better than constantly working to push product that you've had to pay out of pocket for, or worrying that you've not had enough people sign up for your downline to meet a bonus that could pay for your next minimum purchase requirements. You can have your opinion, I've made mine after reading and hearing how multiple people have been led into debt and bankruptcy after being swindled by the "own your own business and get rich from your phone" line.

@@kandijones1421 people do not go into debt working for Target, or any other legitimate company. When you are an employee, you get paid a minimum wage and are not required to pay startup fees outside of maybe a uniform or computer equipment. Wasn't fun, it was actually very annoying and it made me feel awful when I didn't buy anything because I didn't want any of it. They even had me join them on a weekend long convention trip which was hell on earth. I have had such bad experiences with that x.x Hint: never date anyone working in that field, or at least be cautious cuz omg was it difficult to handle. Editing addition: They actually expected me to not use ANY other products other than what they provided with their company business thing, they expected me to get rid of every bit of makeup I owned and only use what they sold. That made me mad, just gotta say.

Agreed- the positive thing is over the past year, that is starting to happen, and the momentum behind boycotting MLMs will only continues to rise as more and more people are becoming aware of what they really are thanks to a plethora of popular documentaries, internet forums, etc. MLMs specifically target vulnerable people (stay at home mothers who just want to spend time with their children while contributing to the household income, people in poverty who will believe anything hoping they can make easy money, and uneducated people who don't have the critical thinking/life skills to understand how exploitive these companies are). MLMs try to tie things up in a pretty package "Why work for someone else when you can be your own boss and own your own business?!" (this one kills me- independent reps certainly are not business owners, and you're 'working' for the company that signs your check!). "You have unlimited potential income!" (Unless you got in in the early stages, you'll never be on the top of the pyramid, which limits income. The market becomes completely oversaturated, and very few people want to buy products from friends/family members who hound them on social media. It's SO cringy and disgusting). Some people are naturally good at sales, and could be making a FORTUNE working in the capacity for an actual company, but get stuck in this MLM trap where they convince themselves things will eventually work out. I've read a lot of studies about MLMs, and the psychology behind people who get involved with them is fascinating, but very sad at the same time.

I had a college course (required) on economics. It was one of the best courses I ever took in my college career. The professor told how, and showed with graphic charts, MLMs cannot be successful except for those at the very top. He pointed out how many make money on pep rallies, motivational books and sales seminars that they charge for. He said legit businesses will often pay for their employees to go to seminars, conferences, training programs, etc., because a more skilled/trained employee will ultimately make the company more money. It’s a win-win. I’ve been approached many times to join various MLMs and always point out what my old professor told us: the same product can be bought at a local store for less money with no shipping and I can take it home immediately, so I’ll pass.

also if anyone is interested in learning more about how crazy these companies are watch "betting zero" on Netflix which is about Herbalife and it shows how they prey on immigrant communities. Also Vice has some really good shot documentaries about LuLaroe!

Lacer Beam I agree! I feel bad because they want something “stable” they can bring while moving every year or so and while their husbands are deployed so they can stay at home with the kids. 😢

Then they can work as house cleaners, pet sitters, dog walkers, so many jobs don't require you to be in the same place for 10 years, or budget carefully and not get brand new cars, hobby jeeps and their upgrades, etc.

Heather Meredith if it’s possible to get a job like that, they should. And I completely agree that everyone should have budget. BUT if you are not a military wife please don’t offer a simple solution in a dismissive way. The military life is anything but easy and every household and life comes with their own difficulties and complications.

Agree with Jenny Garcia! IMHO it’s really not that easy to find stable work. Most of the options mentioned are more hustle type and good luck with that especially if you have kids or school as well.
