I tried fashion nova halloween costumes and plus size dolls kill halloween costumes for 2019, and even though those were weird costumes at least they were cheap! Today I'm trying on cheap vs expensive halloween costumes. If you need a last minute halloween costume or a cute plus size halloween costume, hopefully this helps you decide if it's better to go cheap vs. expensive!

More things need to be 5-7 cents. I remember newspapers being one or two coins and the rest was tip. I remember gum machines at supermarkets and the coins to wait for some mystery tattoo transfer or an equally mysterious to little shameless promotional toy because some stupid ass kid movie is coming out. I miss putting in 25 cents and waiting for some food to hit the metal flip up thing and finding either a candy from the 50’s or loose candy like Good N Plenty. I feel the struggle y’all. I can’t even get a job. It’s really hard out here for people with degrees and even people with multiple degrees and wanted something to fall back on. I got 3 degrees and I’m still struggling. I may have to resort for something where I have a little brat who is 13 and my boss for some dumb reason?

Well technically it isn't illigal to do. You can't sell someone else this design as your own but you can buy something from a store (or ali express) and resell it. At least it my country this is legal (the netherlands). However I cant steal a logo and call it my own that would be illegal

@@laurahoogsteden6542 it's actually in violation of Etsys rules to just resell an item with no modifications unless it's crafting supplies or vintage since sellers are supposed to sell handmade items. The embroidery on this would make it count, though people seem to get away with violating that rule quite often.

Just looked up the Hot Topic Hermione costume and it says: "Costume kit includes: robe, deluxe heather knit sweater, deluxe tie and detachable white dickie" So yes, it was supposed to come with a shirt piece, aka the "detachable white dickie," however the skirt is not included. Judging by the descriptions for the costumes for the other Hogwarts houses, the Deluxe costume sets are unisex, so it makes sense that you'd provide your own bottoms based on your preference.

And usually when you buy an expensive costume on Etsy, it's hand made to order. A few years back I got an $80 Elizabeth from Bioshock costume, and it was custom made for me, and the seller even remade it for free when some pieces didn't fit. It was very obviously hand-made. The fact that there were tags in Chinese on the costume and the cheap, synthetic fabric nature of the accessories makes me think she just got something out of a factory.

Cosplay is worth it though! Halloween costumes are not as worth it for that much unless, I'd say you'd plan to also double it for normal cosplaying days or it's a character that you've already/still cosplay as so you have the costume already. But for a person who doesn't cosplay or really get into it, that's an excessive price 👌🏼 Cosplay is awesome and worth it.

However, those who do cosplay take it seriously and use costumes on multiple occasions, (at least from my understanding?) as well as have a passion for it. "I can't imagine a world where a Halloween costume would be worth 400 dollars", it is expensive but cosplaying exist and for cosplayers that price is not that crazy. Cosplaying is something you do as a hobby, very often more than once a year, and it's something way more serious than Halloween. Alot of cosplayers sew their costumes, but I can't sew, so I gotta say I've brought pretty expensive cosplays (or costumes as you can also call them) along the way and it was totally worth it ^^ costumes/cosplays like that expensive Harley Quinn one are more marketed towards serious cosplayers I think.

SablePhantom serious cosplayers can and do buy cosplay. We just know which specific sites to look on and what sellers are good to buy from. Not everyone who is a ‘serious cosplayer’ has the time or skills to make their cosplays.

That leather belting thing from the expensive Harley Quinn costume that for some reason didn’t snap together is supposed to be a gun holster. It goes over your back like a backpack but The guns are cowboy style and hidden by the jacket.😂 Sierra is so sweet and innocent she didn’t even know what it was is and that by far one of the cutest things about her.

Griffindor here 🙌🏻🙌🏻 2 years back I actually decided to invest in a nice Harley Quinn costume (mainly cz I love Halloween and it was like an early Christmas present for myself) and I so came across the same 2 costumes that you bought as like the top picks for Harley Quinn costumes! But just after a few reviews and seeing photos of the costume pieces I could tell neither of them is really worth the $$. So I ended up buying each piece individually tbh. I got a lace front wig, which I found one that was pre-done in low pigtails (finding one with high pigtails that also looks good on would have been like 2-3x the price) for like $50; I also, invested in a jacket, which was $60 and hands down it was the best investment! The jacket is beautiful, warm (esp great for sexy Halloween costume in NYC), and made in superb quality; and the rest of the items (shirt, stockings, shorts, and tats I got for under $25. I did not invest in shoes as only ones that are $100+ looked good enough to buy, and I simply didn’t think they mattered that much. But buying pieces separately for a costume that I really wanted to look good gave me the freedom to alter in sizes for pieces (as I have a large bust and always need my tops to be larger than bottoms) and it also really gave me the freedom to choose which pieces are worth investing in. Bottom line is that I spent under $150 for what I consider a really expensive Halloween costume, but it was absolutely worth it (I still use it for dance performances whenever required and it has held up super great!). And if I were to spend full $400-$500 like you did, I would have gotten them right shoes and the right accessories (bat, jewelry and belt) and would still have $$ left over, so the fact that your expensive costume did not include any of that is absolute insanity!!!!

She basically got what happens when you buy prom dresses off cheap Chinese sites. They take pictures of high-quality gowns, often without permission, post those, then send their cheap versions. Ironically, a lot of Etsy sellers have had photos stolen and used this way,,
