Nice to finally see another Wing Chun school talking about the combination of internal use of power and wing chun. It's elevates the skill level way beyond the common wing chun school. Thanks for charing.

We would love to hear your thoughts Sifu, on internal skills being used in Bjj and in Judo and other combat sports that you have done. What pros and cons are they and where does the most benefit show. Thank you!

Even in the hard wing chun styles relaxation is needed for otherwise you will be stiff and loose from the more powerful or skilled opponent.

For me this makes very much sense. All styles and lineages have come from somewhere, ain't the grandmaster someone who has enough knowledge to make modifications to the system. Don't mean to spin too much theory here but where is the limit between lineage and new style? 🤔 BTW I was in reverse breathing today while sitting but after one breath I got so excited I lost it 😂

Great question! I don't have an easy simple answer. But I can point you in a direction where you'll find a great answer that'll go to your great question. On KZbin watch a video on the channel "Stanford". Titled "1.Introduction to Human Behavioral Biology". A class/lecture given by Robert Sapolsky.

Why can't the hardest karate be mixed with soft Tai Chi? Karate comes from crane with similar forms, wing chun also have huge connections with crane. Ultimately it is up to the practitioner to see the same priniciples in different arts, even hardest styles ultimately look for best efficiency. Softest styles still have to manifest enough knockout power. Hard and soft eventually have to complement and come together. Only issue is how in depth one wants to explore, and how much time they can put into it, or if they are already satisfied with what they know is sufficient for what they need. You want softer for health, or harder for quicker martial applications and self defense? Or layers deeper that combines both?

It’s not about the eternal part but about the engine, using Ging or Lik (Jin or Li in manderin) so when two engines are polar opposites it just can’t be done as simpel as that really

I have a purple belt BJJ and brown belt in Judo, for your info, Do you think I never tested the internals against BJJ Etc? Please experience before you talk and judge I was a private student of Leung Tiny in the 90’s and this what I am doing now goes so far beyond what Leung Ting WT can do in so many ways. If we are talking about classical WT then I agree with you to a large extend Btw

There have already been many cases of MMA and JJ fighters that had no chance with people that had zero knowledge and experience with/in Martial Arts/Combat. That were drunk, high, adrenaline driven,... This like all other things that come about unexpected happened because of ignorance. I get it, the odds of someone that has truly reached the level of True Kung Fu to be able to perform all the superhuman feats mentioned throughout Human History are 1 to 1 billion. And disappearing with modern times. But that's a matter of the individual, even if it's all 8 billion people on this planet and/or all of Human History. And not the Kung Fu(skills, abilities,...) themselves.

Don’t judge before you experience, experience before you judge. Don’t be stuck in what “your” mind “tells” you, or you will be trapped in illusion. Better pay attention to the core which experiences your body, mind, emotion, the world in and around you. A metaphor: A nail can never be hit in a wall by itself, be the carpenter, not the nail.

After considerable study of Wing Chun it is clearly apparent to me that it was once a Shaolin soft style and over time was modified to strip out use and development of the fascia (Ip Man lineage at least). You can see in this demonstration: centerline, tan sau, bong sau, kau sau...more... kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKiuiXithJ10f8U - and then if you read the description on this demonstration: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4CsfohtbrVlhLM well, it fills in many gaps. Another example that is really obvious to me is that 'bow to Buddha' is a version of 'the frog': kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZTMgap4is5jgqc - I don't know why people become so upset over it, I guess they either don't want to lose face, or lose money. There can be no other reason, but eventually the evidence becomes so overwhelming that you will lose both face and money by ignoring the reality.
