I know this is and old video but i just purchased the new Sig Cross Trax in 308 and am thinkin I'm gonna run the Trijicon Huron 3-9x40, How has your Trijicon held up?
@TheGearTester
@TheGearTester 11 ай бұрын
I was just looking at the Sig Cross Trax at my local sporting goods store. I like it better than the standard Cross. The Trijicon Credo 3-9x40 has proven to be an excellent scope. I ended up putting it on a AR upper. The precision hunter red MOA reticle was enabled me to get good hits on steel out to 400+ yards.

We gotta see a sub MOA group from a different rifle first before assuming the tester is capable. Blaming the rifle is the easy way out, and very seldom the problem.

Yeah, my understanding is that the bolts that hold the stock to the receiver come loose from the factory is what causes the wiggle problem. Tighten them up...problem gone.

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I hope you get it to shoot better groups. I have read that the barrel nut may need to be a bit tighter? Ive seen this in a review as well. Seems accuracy has been an issue with quite a few of these. I love this style of rifle for packability. My guide in Wyoming had the same rifle and it shoots very tight groups. Im grateful for your content. Well done!

Not sure why those groups are so wild. I just started my break in at 50 yards. They were super tight but I'll see in a few days if that changes at 100 yds. I am shooting 150 grain Fed and Core-Lokt. I think this gun, at least in .308 is way more accurate than what you have.

After breaking it in, I took mine out yesterday, to check which ammo it liked. Mine is the .308 with a break on it. And yes, the barrel heats up quickly, so I was doing 4 rounds then waiting by shooting something else in between. Most of the ammo I took (from 150gr, 168gr (same as in this test, the Hornady ELD), 175gr & 180gr), I can't say it grouped at all, at 100 yards with most of the ammo I took. 3-4" separation. It was disheartening. Except for Black Hills .308 175BTHP. 4 round clover leafing. It was excellent. Of course, it likes the most expensive rounds. 🙂

Great video. Regarding the LaRue cantilevered mount, try turning it around. That should give you plenty of adjustment for proper eye relief. Also, I have difficulty using ear muffs with all my long guns from traditional wood and synthetic stocks to several brands of AR stocks, so for me, this problem is far from unique to the Cross. Hope these comments help.

FYI: A very small piece of gorilla tape towards to outer edge would shim that stock just about perfectly. I went with a 308 as well since it's a close-mid range setup, and the 308 version is a bit lighter and shorter. And I love the option of just use M80 ball for plinking(not anymore ↑$$$$↑ ) My result using PPU 155 OTM and Federal 168gr Tac Tipped Matchking w/ Nomad-L keymo (3-port brake underneath also very effective) attached were 0.25 to 1.3 MOA (3 shots, Federal was better ); last 5-shot group was about 1.5MOA when everything was pretty hot after 21shots for the previous 7 groups. I didn't rush but also didn't intentionally give it time to cool. For the price, weight, modularity, handling/ergo. The Sig Cross is pretty tough to beat, at least for the one I got. What a nice close-mid range light tactical bolt action, that you can absolutely hunt with. It also has the ability to switch to 277 FURY, if that caliber makes more sense to me in the future. Side Note: The heat was creating a pretty bad mirage towards the end(26 shots total), but it didn't seem to really open up the group that much, nor did it shift POI in any noticeable way. So glad Sig didn't try to cut weight by cutting the barrel profile like a pencil.

This is not the rifle or the ammo. This is the shitty shot behind the rife that doesn't know how to adjust his scope, or have a solid platform to shoot from. If this dude had a 10,000 dollar custom rifle and a 5,000 dollar scope, he would still shot the same shitty groups.
