But nature’s wrath is acting out in unusual ways - with injuries and Coast Guard rescues stacking up at alarming rates. Jake is really relatable for me. I see a lot of myself in him. Plus, watching him go through the losses he did with his sister and dad really made me emphasize with him. I still remember watching him when he talked to his mom about his sister passing and he said something like “she’s in a better place now, now she can be beautiful forever,” and I sobbed. I’ve lost a lot of loved ones, and really, really felt that.

I have never been emotional for anything TV related, but when Phil passed I couldn't stop crying. I have dealt with my own father's ups and downs, and at times it has been rough. He has had a lifelong struggle with addiction, but he is the kindest man I have ever known. He is 66 now, and his body is beginning to pay him back for past mistakes. It is hard for me to deal with the fact that one day he won't be there. It isn't just that Phil reminded me of my dad, it's also the relationship he had with his sons, and the love that you could literally feel. I learned to never take any of it for granted when we lost Phil.

Rick S. Clearly, if there is a god - it does NOT watch over all the fishermen. And if you consider it it's will either way it goes, mysterious ways and all that, I have no idea why you would be praying for an alternative. It would be like the intern telling the CEO what to do. Love watching Deadliest Catch, I grew up living on a boat, and fishing. Going through the Moloka’i channel known as the Ka’iwi channel, and the ‘Alenuihaha channel.Its not fun with huge waves. My dad Charles would follow the barge, just to get a little smoother ride. But of course it is nothing compare to where all these ships go to. Now I never say, why is crab so expensive?....These guys work hard on the deck, and the captain has so much responsibility to get everyone home safe. Pray for you all everyday to be safe!! Muahh

Wild Bill is one hell of a good captain! I saw him have to abort an aproach in big waves off of Saint Paul Harbor... A lesser Captain would have rolled it over and stuck it on the rocks. Wild Bill drove it back up to level from a 90-degree knockdown , WITH A CRAB LOAD ON ! In, well, if you can call it "boating", THAT is a Bad-Ass!!

Keith said filming the show, or doing interviews for you tube or even taking selfies, makes him look twenty pounds heavier than he looks in real life. Total UNCOMFORTABLE silence. Then Keith looked over to Sig and all Sig could do was to burst out LAUGHING REALLY LOUD AND HYSTERICALLY! Sig tried to pull it together for a minute but then Sig looked Keith straight in the eye and said, "well this camera must be really special because where I am sitting you look 75 pounds fatter in PERSON." The reporter, along with all the other Captains that were all there for the interview, and everyone in the building, ALL BURST OUT LAUGHING SO HARD THEY HAD TEARS ROLLING DOWN THEIR FACES. Keith ran off the set to go pout which made everyone laugh even harder! People were still laughing five minutes later. They cancelled the rest of the interview because no one could stop laughing for even a minute. Even the reporter. 😜😂🤗🤣😂🤣😂

well I know Sig has a role as consultant to the producers - so he probably has something of a say about what gets shown . I agree with you however I find Wild Bill the most interesting character of the captains . I have to say he obviously has a reputation for being tough or the bad guy - I have never seen that as far as I am concerned - he is pretty balanced - sure he can get mad if someone screws up - but nothing worse than anyone else and mostly takes things in stride .

The channel I watch current seasons with is so full of commercials I can't watch. I Must wait till it comes out on Hulu or wait till I can buy the DVD set (ouch expensive). I have been told it is the channel carrier, not Discovery that is flooding The Deadliest Catch with so many commercials, unwatchable because of so many commercials.
