Our two Directors, Ion and I (Valentin), like your videos. However, we've had a busy year and haven't had time to see all of your videos yet. Can't wait to see this one though. The title "SIG MCX SPEAR" really catches the eye. Now we're talking Lucas. Now we're talking. Hope you make ongoing SIG MCX SPEAR videos, so Canadians can see what pushing the limits with a SIG MCX SPEAR 7.62x51 is like. You look stronger nowadays, so maybe you can use these big platforms as good as you do the 5.56 now. The civilian version of the U.S. Army's new XM7 rifle, that we can't own in Canada, and that might be good for the army here actually? The SIG MCX SPEAR 7.62x51 looks great for sports shooting though or something iconic about it. All of our colleagues here have been talking about bb's, pellets, c02, batteries, flashlights, paintballs, tazers, rubber pistols, air guns, or talking up .22 bolt action rifles for self defence against mafias, gangs, SHTF & dystopian survival. Everything except training with a 7.62x51 semi. If there was a .02 rimfire bullet, our colleagues would do that, as it would be applauded by media and government and corporate admis. :) Help!!! Go the other way Lucas. Show us what life is like with real calibers. What about these 6.5, 6.8, 7 calibers? Also, what should Canadian army use to overcome modern army with body armour or people with 7.62x39 mm rifles? Any insights on bullet design and the future of bullets for citizens or armies or cops in North America? Despite so much information out there. Lots of critical or key questions, seems that premium questions, it's not immediately obvious or commonly discussed, even after browsing for a little while through various videos.

To Lucas's suggestion about practicing throttle control by shooting a near and then a far (further at least) target, you CAN replicate this at an indoor range by having a single target paper with a large and a small target on it. There are tons of targets online for this. It's not quite the same because you're not having to transition as far, but you are going to have to practice going faster or slower based on relative target "size."

The extra screws that Sig added to the Spear LT don't actually do anything to prevent handguard shift. It just holds the flex in place. The Arisaka clamp is the only thing I've found that fixes the handguard flex. Stills sucks that you gotta pay $70 for a clamp to fix an issue with a $2700 gun though

Thank you for finally proving that it's not the barrel that is moving, it's the hand guard likely due to being torqued out of spec. Now the excuse is that on the 1st shot, the vibration/harmonics makes the barrel fully accurate again. Good job on taking 1 year to make this video, meanwhile the guys in SOCOM are putting the rifle to real use, not more BS videos.

I work at the only sig elite dealer in my state. Ive personally bent the barrels of spears with my hands. Not even trying hard. Just using finger strength between handguard and barrel with one hand.

7 months later, have you got any idea if the newer batches of Spear LTs are still having the hand guard and barrel flex issues?

I recently picked up a LT 11.5. They must have fixed it because i don't have the flex. Anyway excellent content!

I have an LT 762x39 16” with a 556 conversion upper, and a LT 9” 300blk never had an issue over 5k rounds through each, I think one time I had a feed malfunction but it was so fluke I couldn’t even reproduce it again if I wanted to

The ADM ambi bolt catch/release on the right side as a right handed shooter is in a natural position for me and it makes reloads feel smoother and faster.

I used the Arisaka zero retention clamp to fix the hand guard wobble after I torqued down the hand guard screws. So far I haven’t had any issues, and the zero has been fairly consistent. Rifle functions just fine, but I just don’t feel confident with it. The QC issues I’ve delt with has discouraged me slightly. I’m considering selling it and getting something else, not sure yet.

The rifle is gassed like a govt combat rifle in normal setting. It is NOT smooth shooting but it’s manageable. You won’t win any shooting competitions with it. However, once my rifle was broken in with a few hundred rounds I can run it unsuppressed on the lower gas setting. It runs steel case through spec 556 on that low setting. Shot like this the rifle is fine and on par with my custom built rifles for recoil and muzzle management. My barrel does move a bit but I haven’t tested the impact of that at distance. The ambi bolt catch/release is small and can be had to find with your finger at first but it’s great for locking the bolt back during malfunctions as you don’t have to take your hand off the pistol grip. This alone is worth the control even if you don’t use it for fast reloads.

What’s the main advantage, just no buffer tube like the psa Sabre ? Folding stock would indeed be nice to have (without that dumb expensive adapter for buffer tubes to fold)

Lucas: "This is for those of you who have this playing in the background, and you're in the kitchen, and you're not really watching, and you're gonna hear this, and you're gonna wanna watch." Love the one-take videos. Based on this small test, the barrel shift is self-correcting; first shot deviates to the opposite direction as the barrel over-shoots (hur, hur) center when whipping back into position when pressurized by firing. Barrel shift is due to the tiny little screws that're supposed to help the handguard hold zero, there's no other changes to the LT that would cause this. Some think it's from over-tightening them, I'm thinking there's tension applied to the receiver material surrounding the barrel extension, so when the barrel is shifted, there's just enough tension to hold it in its new position until forced back into proper place. Pop the screws out, see if the problem persists. I do like the LT, almost as nice as the original MCX for weight/handling.

Does the barrel bend or is it the hand rail that bends?
@VETERANSERVICEOFFICER Жыл бұрын
Neither, the barrel nuts and handguard retention screws are undertorqued from the factory. They need to tighted to 60 in pds for barrel retention screws and 40-45 in pounds for the handguard. Zero flex after that.
@TREXARMS Жыл бұрын
Sig torqued them for us and we then shot the gun. Customers shouldn’t have to torque them.

@@TREXARMS I have a MCX Spear LT 11.5" .223 upper. I'll have to try this when I get home to Texas. In AZ home at the moment. Honestly. the gun + a $2k optics shoots about 1 MOA for me at 100yds. But I'm not Marine tossing it around in a Hummvee either.
