I just ordered, received, then brought home my 92FS made in Gallatin Tn. I specifically wanted the FS over the M9 because it is more cut in under the backstrap and having medium sized hands I knew this was the way to go. I was initially disappointed with it as the finish is two tone. The frame is purplish gray (ugly AF) and the slide is dark jet black, it looks rattle can sprayed really. Well guess what? After closer inspection I realized that the frame is an M9 frame!!! WTF?!?!?!?!!! Absurd. Literally the only thing FS about it is the 3 dot sights and the stamping on the slide! I will now forever own this gun knowing it would have fit my hand better had they actually sold me what I thought I was buying. VERY big disappointment after wanting a Beretta 92FS for roughly 35 years...This pisses me off so much that the gun will now likely be sold on consignment at my local gun store some day or sit in the bottom of my safe. I bought 3 Glocks before I finally purchased this Beretta, and I gotta say Glock never did me dirty like this. They are surplus'ing those M9 frames off to us now underneath FS stamped slides...I also ran across a guy in a gun forum who said the same thing happened to him. Beretta is dead to me, will never buy a new one again.

I'm a big Sig Sauer fan, but I found a great deal on a Beretta 92FS that I couldn't pass up. I'm very, very impressed with the accuracy of the 92FS, and it's incredibly smooth to shoot. In my opinion, both are top notch and it's completely personal preference between the P226 and the 92FS, whichever feels more comfortable to the individual.
@medelflores50685 жыл бұрын
I’ll stick with the Beretta 92 fs or M9. I was trained with it since the late 80’s, used and abused it but still works and never had a single malfunction. All firearms are good if you’re trained with it but I love an all metal non plastic pistol. You’re awesome hickok45. I use Federal ammunitions because of you. Thanks for all the vids.
@rl74872 жыл бұрын
I’m tired of plastic too. I find the aluminum frames like the sig or beretta or all steel frames like the SW 5906 and the all steel P 220 version, a 1911 or a browning high power

I was trained and competed with the Beretta M9 in the Army, and bought a couple for personal training and use. After some research, I decided to buy a SIG P226. I figured that anything the Navy SEALS favored couldn't be at all bad. I have since sold every other automatic pistol I owned (including my 1911, and several other fine weapons). Both of these pistols are top-notch. This video is one of a very few that gives a fairly objective look at them. For concealed carry personal defense, I chose the SIG P226 over everything else for these primary reasons: 1) Its reputation for performance reliability amoung elite combat & law enforcement professionals 2) No safety - The 1st shot Double Action 10lb. trigger offers a safety element without sacrificing combat readiness 3) It fits my hands perfectly 4) I got it at FFL cost price 5) Emotionally, I think it's a damn sexy gun Comfortably carrying this full-sized pistol concealed on my 6' 190lb frame isn't difficult. I carry outside the waistband in a Raven Concealment Systems Phantom Modular Holster. If my clothing attire demands inside the waistband concealment, I carry holstered in a White Hat Holsters' MaxTuck.

Another thing I'm not alone. the m9 is being discontinued in the US military while many Sigg models are still being used across the world including the SAS which are considered one of the most elite soldier divisionson the planet. There is two types of "cool" in distinguishing handguns. first type of cool is actual ability of the object itself. While second kind of cool is where an individual holds an object to a higher regard than it actually deserves. This is due to a handguns unique attributes that may compliment an individual shooter or a preconceived notion of "cool" solely given out of personal opinion. I think your getting them twisted.

The trigger is so smooth, break is great, reset is excellent, the grip feels like it was made for my hands, I can maneuver all the buttons/safety/release much easier, and I'm just a better shot with the 92. The P226 does all of this great as well and it really just comes down to each user.

The slide-mounted safety on the Beretta is initially counter-intuitive but, after time, it will eventually become ingrained in your muscle memory. It’s a wonderful pistol, shoots better than a lot of the polymer varieties offered these days, and is about as sleek and sexy a handgun as one can imagine. I can’t speak for the Sig226, but have little doubt it is a quality pistol, as well. Nice review. 👍

Loose Joey, think loose. A 1911 with loose tolerances is every bit as reliable as other guns out there on the market in my experience. Think about the ultra reliable polymer kings glock, m&p, xd, ALL of them I've ever owned and shot were extremely loose tolerances...no wonder they don't jam much. With that much slide to frame movement a little piece of silt isn't going to make the slide hang up...you about need a sunflower seed for it to do anything. Half to a 1/3 of 1911s are loose when you combine all the different makers..get one of those your ok. Glocks would jam if they were as tight as many if the 1911s out there too. Handguns are a marvel of engineering...pay attention to detail...there's many things to take into consideration.
@DonziGT2308 жыл бұрын
Why Beretta won the military contract is a no brainer, it's a much prettier gun. My understanding is that they tied on all the testing and price, but Beretta won out because of pricing of the mags and service kits. The early Beretta slide failures were very rare and it was determined that the ammo being used was way over normal pressure because of an oversight when the brass was changed leading to 'early' failures after many thousand rounds. They also had an issue with locking block failures that were discovered to be because of after-market blocks being used that had very unpredictable lifespans where the Beretta blocks were very durable and relatively predictable. The factory blocks have their limit too, but generally reliable to 10,000 rounds and will usually go way past that with standard pressure ammo.

I own a Beretta 92FS model, and it´s a large gun, but very accurate. Night sights, ambidextrous mag release an safety (not ambi slide release). Never had an issue of any kind with it. It can be attached with som afertmarket mags with more than 15 rounds. On the other hand, de 92FS doesn´t have rails, so no modularity at all. The safety on the slide, no big deal, you have to train with it. It´s really awesome pretty, with open slide design, seeing the cannon. It basic design was created on the 70´s, but today it´s still one of the bests full size handguns. If you shoot one, and afterwards you shoot any modern striker fired hangun, it´s no clear at all if there where any advances on pistols the last 30 years...

I was torn between these 2 pistols when I was looking for one. I ended up renting both of them at the same time at a range and after about 300 rounds each I chose the Beretta. For me I thought it felt better and was more accurate then the 226. This was 3 years ago and i still really enjoy it. I honestly think it’s more accurate then my Glock model 22.

Shot the Beretta during my time in the Navy and fell in love with it. Used it during boarding missions and never wanted for another. The wife and I have shot several Glocks, SIGs, Springfields, and even a Taurus or two over the last year. She just loves that Beretta. So much, in fact, that she swears she wants a 92fs for herself, rather than any of the others that we've shot. And she's very accurate at short-to-intermediate distances with it. Here's my point: If you're comfortable with it, can shoot it well, and understand any limitations, then go for it. I don't care if you like your P226 or Glock 17 better than the 92fs. Good for you. Glad you have a gun you like. If the wife wanted a little SCCY or a Glock 20, it makes no difference to me. There's no reason to own a gun you don't like shooting. Case in point: My friend has a Walther .380 subcompact. I HATE shooting that thing. So damned uncomfortable. Tiny grip, light, no fun to shoot. He hates it too. Why, then would he still own it? I don't care if

I had the M9 (aka Beretta Model 92) strapped to my thigh for many years during my time in the Navy, and it did the job as any good weapon should, but I didn't like some of the quirks associated with it. When I got out and wanted to find a workhorse sidearm in civilian life, I went to Sig. I trained on a DA/SA platform, so that is no problem for me (the transition is actually very natural for me, and I like it very much: first shot slows me down and makes me focus, then all following shots are like butter). However, I hate having an actual safety mechanism that I have to disable before I shoot on this platform (let the trigger be the safety). It took a couple of months, but once I picked up a Sig P229 chambered in .40 S&W, that was the right one for me; shoots like a laser and fits my hand like a glove (I barely need to aim it to get small groups, like an extension of my hand). Would I carry either for CCW? Not unless it's winter (for the summer I have a Ruger LCR or a Chiappa Rhino, both chambered in .357 Mag). But for a sidearm that I'd need if I can't use my rifle in a SNAFU situ, the Sig is my choice every time (so much more effective and convenient compared to the Beretta). Then again, everyone is different and whatnot; the Sig platform is simply what works best for me as a workhorse DA/SA sidearm.

I rented both - the Beretta had around 600 rounds through it, the Sig had about 2,000. My personal opinion was the Sig just felt more substantial, despite having 3x the rounds through it. Both were accurate, but the Sig's trigger is what really swayed my opinion.

From what I've heard, the M9 actually hurt a few people from slide failures during the tests. That issue was quickly fixed and the M9 now has the privilege of being one of the most thoroughly tested handguns of all time.
@shananagans510 жыл бұрын
Yea, my understanding is the slide came off & hit someone in the face at about 3,000 rounds. lol That sure would get your attention but that was fixed shortly after that incident. Unfortunately, that has followed the 92 like the reliability problems followed the M16 for decades after the problems were corrected. I still hear all kinds of things about the 92 that simply aren't true. That initial incident with the slide turned into rumors of the slide breaking at 3,000 to 5,000 rounds. Then problems with the locking block were exaggerated. The original locking blocks lasted 20,000 rounds & they have even improved them & now they are lasting twice that long. In my book, if the biggest reliability problem of a gun is a $30 part that lasts 35,000+ rounds you are doing pretty good. I am not a big fan of the safety on the Beretta. I really wish they still made the G model with a decocker only but that is my only gripe with the Beretta. They are a full sized, all metal gun. They shoot great & the low recoil makes for fast follow up shots. I have a G26 for carry & it works great for that but it isn't fun to shoot. At the range I always find myself shooting a few rounds through the Glock to stay familiar with it but I always go to my 226 or 92 when I am just out shooting to have fun & relax. I have an Inox 92FS with deep red bloodwood grips. It looks amazing & cost $350 less than the 226.

FrustratedNameSearch That's really cool you have a 25th anniversary edition. My Inox 92fs is nothing special. It's US made with a trigger job, metal parts kit & bloodwood grips. It looks amazing but it's just a standard stainless 92fs with a little work done to it. It's funny because at the range people constantly tell me they wouldn't shoot mine if they had it. lol It's pretty but it's also a little workhorse. It shoots great & if it wears out I can replace it for $650
@FrustratedNameSearch10 жыл бұрын
shananagans5 The 92FS is a fine gun, and it's actually a better range pistol than the M9 is. The M9 has the fast-acquire two-dot sight system designed for quick center-punches and not accuracy. Tight groups are pretty difficult to manage with it but that's not what it was designed for.

Sig 226 close to $1000 Beretta 92 Around $550 You got it backwards. This is why I don't own any Sigs. They are WAY overpriced. Yes they are good but the Beretta M9 is just as good and half the price. The CZ 75BD is another excellent pistol for the same price as the Beretta. The only Sig worth the money is the 2022. They got that one priced more down to Earth

For me is Beretta better just because it isn't that angular, that bulky and uncomfortable to carry like SIG, which is great and accurate gun but still more cop's or soldier's gun than for concealed carry. My girlfriend had Beretta 92 in .40 calibre, hed it on some competitions and later sold it because amno was really expensive. As cop she has CZ 75 as servise gun, so Beretta was her favourite, just after her Colt Commander Elite. Her Beretta was really early .40 calibre model, so after extensive shooting needed new barrel and extractor but was reliable.

As an M1A2 Abrams Tank crewman, the M9 was my primary weapon. It shot very well. I almost always shot expert with it. However, the magazines were a different story. They would cause a malfunction at least once per mag. And it happened with ALL the magazines we had available. Good accuracy doesn't mean squat when it won't fire. I'll never buy a Beretta handgun.
