Mike Campbell I know what you mean a solid good metal heavy gun just seems right. Get this though. Glock did a durability demonstration for the Coast Guard a few years back. In one demonstration they dropped a Glock 19 a hundred feet from a helicopter that bounced around on the ground, got scuffed up a little. They picked it up and it fired perfectly. Kind of shocking
@Dr._Nope8 жыл бұрын
Mike Campbell Technology evolves, a 1911 may be beautiful and badass, you have to admit, compared to today's handguns, it is cumbersome to field strip and it's a bit on the hefty side, plus if the hammer is obstructed, which isn't common but possible on a battlefield, it can lead to a malfunction. When going for your pistol in modern times, speed is key. As a backup, when a soldier, marine, etc. runs his rifle empty in the middle of combat, he has to draw his pistol, line up a shot at his target, gun him down as soon as possible, and move on to the next one just as quick because a lot of times, there's another hostile to take out. You also have ammo capacity to consider, it usually takes about three or four shots to the chest or one to the head to kill a man, it's better to have more ammo when taking on multiple targets. The sidearm may be more rarely used in battle than the rifle of course, but running out of ammo can happen, and the soldier has to be able to defend himself, these factors have to be considered and he needs the most effective weapon to use in case of such an event.

You are ignorant about the issue, which occurred many years ago, a few injuries, had to do with overly high pressure ammo and not the gun. Nevertheless, you are citing a present NON-ISSUE so just keep your big mouth closed. The U.S. Gov't paid for the slide modifications and I would not hesitate to shoot even an F model, nevermind FS, with standard pressure or +p. You need to get educated and stop spreading FUD about a great firearm.

Nice thing about the p320 and p365 is you can change the size of the firearm dramatically & quickly to suit your day to day needs. Got a normal, xl, and xmacro grip for the 365xl. If it's a super hot day, I carry the normal so I don't print. Wearing a flannel or heavier shirt? Can carry the XL grip, which gives me a better grip on the pistol and more rounds. Cold and wearing a jacket? I can put the macro grip on, get 17 round capacity, and turn very small feeling pistol into a skinny yet full sized feeling firearm. Only have to buy grips and mags, which I could buy 2 mags each and both grips for less than $400, and I basically have 3 different carry guns.

The 320 looks very nice and with so many positive comments, it perked my interest, especially with the modularity. I compared it (compact version) with my EDC G19G4. The 320 is about the same length with the same capacity, but its wider, heavier, taller and has a higher bore bore axis. If you will negotiate with your local FFL they can get you some really good prices on Glocks that they can't advertise . The x-change kits are basically the price of another gun so its a no go. I appreciate your very informative video as usual. You still have me wanting to go rent one to shoot, and that might change my mind, but so far, the G19 appears to be a more sleek upgrade to the SIG.

I changed from 9 mm to 40 in in less than a minute on my first try. 40 to 357 is seconds. I got 4 extra mags for 357/40 so I can have one in the gun and one in my mag pouch for all three calibers or 4 for 40 or 4 for 357 and 2 for 9 mm. Lots of flexibility to meet whatever conditions you may need to face. Oh yeah, so very easy to clean. Sig knocked this one out the park and the Army made a good move.

Purchased the Sig P320 TacOps (9mm) Dec 30, out of the Box I was more accurate with this sig and the 4.4 barrel then with my Glock's (26 &19), but started to notice an issue with incomplete extraction of the spent cartridge. Ran a test with 6 diff ammos, 50 rds ea, 5 new mags, indoor conditions, out of 300 rds I had 32 jams (federal white box 0 issues). have to say so far Sig customer service has been great, sent the weapon back to Sig and it looks like a $6 dollar extractor spring is the culprit, replacing this spring seems to have fixed this issue with the other youtube reviewers, we will see.

@ted94708 жыл бұрын
Prepare2Survive , 357 Sig is way to expensive for ammo and 40 is a bit too snappy for people that never fired a weapon b4
@Prepare2Survive8 жыл бұрын
357 sig is only expensive because it's not popular right now, but if the military started using it you can bet the prices would drop a lot. Eventually it would only be slightly more expensive than 9mm because it uses a little more gun powder. As far as the military not being able to use HP ammo that's false. They absolutely can use HP ammo. The hague convention in 1898 that banned the use of expanding ammo was never signed by the US and it only pertained to interstate conflicts and not intrastate conflicts. Here's a link www.military.com/daily-news/2015/07/17/us-army-wants-hollow-point-ammo-for-new-pistol-not-for-the-m9.html
@ted94708 жыл бұрын
there is already a DOD contract for 375 sig the secret service, TSA, and other government agencies use 357 sig and the price has only gone up with that being said the military would have to buy millions up on millions of rounds and at this point there is not an ammunition manufacturer that could fill that request in a desired amount of time and the round would have to be mass produced and bulk packaged so the quality of the round would be degraded and no better than the 9mm they already have stock piled and paid for

@nmende008 жыл бұрын
mojo jojo Bingo. you hit the nail on the head. modularity is pointless during firefight or home invasion. a frame without the fire control is just as bulky as full pistol. A modular gun with accessories will never be as practical as owning more than one firearm bc regardless of how many barrels, slides, frames and magazines you own, you still only have one functional fiream in an emergency so be careful accidentally grabbing 357 magazine and try to run it in a pistol configured as . 40
@DocMitchell698 жыл бұрын
John Wayne Not sure if you understand the point of having a modular system. It's so that you can easily configure the pistol to your wants and/or needs. It just makes it easier to work on. Besides, no one is going to try and swap out barrels and slides during a home invasion or firefight.
@nmende008 жыл бұрын
rambokicksass77 i understand the concept of modularity but having a 9mm compact gun for ccw and a full size 45 for home defense is still more useful than a one gun that can be both.there is always the chance of mixing up magazines with disastrous results.with two guns i can have one as back up in case it fails or i run out of ammo or i can have one for myself and one i can lend to an unarmed housemate or battle buddy when shit hits the fan.with a modular system all i have is one gun and a bunch of parts that take up as much space as a real gun without any of the capability to actually be used in self defense.mod systems are only ideal in fascist states where civilians are restricted in the numbers of registered handguns they are allowed to own and thus are forced to buy one "swiss army jack of all trades" that has to be transformed to be used into the gun needed at the time. i would gladly pay the extra 200 bucks to have an extra gun instead of just extra parts.

just because something is technically outdated doesn't mean that it is either bad nor that people instantly stop using it. I love revolvers but i am perfectly willing to say that they are outdated. as i originally stated the Glock is still a perfectly serviceable pistol that as you pointed out is still in wide use across the world. but the fact of the matter is that the P320 design and other modular pistols like it are more advanced in design and are more than likely the way forwards as far as handgun technology is concerned, the army isn't looking for something that is good enough now, or that was the best 20 years ago, they want the best available now and something that will be future proof for the next 20-30 years.

What is this plethora of "modular" Pistols you speak of? This Sig is the only one that has the removable chassis. Also, the "technology" is the damn same. It's a polymer framed, striker fired, Browning cam-lock pistol with a melonite-like coating and stainless steel stampings for frame parts... What is so damn space age about that? It's the same damn shit. Gun dorks are on here acting like this Sig is as big of a technological innovation in small arms as a turbofan engine was over a piston engine in aviation. Small arms have reached an apex, stop acting like these small logistical innovations will equate to a more effective weapon, because they won't.

Glocks have a huge disadvantage because the design isn't exactly friendly to men with smaller hands and generally speaking, most females. The grip is incredibly blockly and lacks ergonomics. When you put Glock pistols up against a gun like the P320 that can be tailor fit to a female service member standing at 5 feet tall at very little cost, its not hard to see why it was selected. I hope the Sig P320 fares well in service

jonnytestnj I just hope it doesn’t get service members killed with frame failures.

I know one of the gripes with the M9 was the grip size for women and men with small hands. It will be interesting to see how the polymer frame holds up to military use

I hate Glocks. I prefer Springfield Xdm and mod 2.

I own the 19x and absolutely love shooting it. I also own both the P320 compact and the RX full size. I will forever love Glocks but I have to confess that I really like shooting the 320's.

I feel like the Sig's plastic is too brittle and it will prove to be prone to breaking. The magic of Glock is Gaston's polymer formula.
@danc56447 жыл бұрын
Any polymer is going to break down in time. I figured that those parts would be incredibly easy to replace and they would be cheaper in bulk
@christopherbarger61127 жыл бұрын
Yup. Very easy to chip and break. I actually chipped mine with a plastic hammer.

Not a big fan of Sig at all, mostly due to the horribly high bore axis on their guns, but I'll say this looks a shitload better than a square ass Glock with that horrid fucking grip angle.

Again, Sig hits a home run. I have been watching your reviews and have been impressed with your productions and competent information. I am former military and LEO and Am thankful that you don't act the fool. Keep up the good work! Also, have you done a review on the Bersa Thunder 380?

A large known popular Police Dept.in the State I live in issued the Beretta 92FS since 1988 to officers all the way through the 1st decade of 2000s.In 2010, this P.D. changed to a polymer frame striker fire pistol for new officers graduating from academy.I think it's the S&W MP & changed it early last year to the 2.0 model.

You may not want to ( at approx 12:50 ) extend both arms to shoot the dummy at that close range. Its called a close quarter drill and you actually pull your arms inward after drawing your weapon from a holstered position. This is to prevent the enemy grabbing your weapon or otherwise deflecting the weapon from its its intended target. A real person could have easily reached your weapon. Sorry for the critique but that was a rather serious error.

a good buddy of mine is making the slides in newington NH on Pease trade port .. the trade port used to be Pease air force base.. it is now a fraction of what it used to be as a NH ANG base where i work as an armed security contractor.. end of history lesson

@scootch00 : Another EXCELLENT review. One of the standout qualities of what Scootch does over other firearm channels is he is CONSISTENT in showing the firearm before the actual review with close-ups, firearm action, and then a complete and full review of the the firearm itself. It's interesting that the FBI went with GLOCK with its singular custom-tailored-to-the-FBI as opposed to the Sig. Scootch, I would have loved to hear your own personal commentary about why the FBI went with Glock and the US Army went with Sig P320 (and Sig was in the top 2 for the FBI as well as the US Army). What I love about your review on the "Modular System" is that the Glock is not modular and did not have the MIL-STD Picatinny rail, Grip Shells, Modular Fire System, but that the US Army also opted to go with a SAFETY on the frame grip.

Nothing is as satisfying as shooting a beretta 92 with actual beretta mags . Every time you go rapid fire we are closer to getting Lethal Weapon 5

It is amazing, the more things change the more they stay the same. The Springfield 30.06 was based on the Mauser and now 120 years later we contract again with the Germans. I am surprised that we couldn't use an American company.

Regardless of which side of the isle your on, I respect the Army's decision here. As I custom build my own Glock 22, I understand the need to build on the fly and the P320 provides that. One love.
