I love my Taurus TX22 and it has been very accurate and reliable. In over a thousand rounds I have had only 2 ammo related failures to fire with over 40 year old Winchester Wildcat ammo. My TX22 came with a speed loader but I have no problem loading by hand. Thanks for the comparison and have a great day.

This is not an apples to oranges comparison. You continually referred to the Taurus as the TX 22 and it is not. You were shooting the TX 22 Competition model which is optimized for competition. Neither the TX 22 nor the P322 have been optimized. You might as well compare a family sedan to a formula 1 race car. In that light, the p322 is the clear winner. I own the TX22 and the P322 and like both pistols. I do not own the TX22 Competition model. So, while it is a nice video it provides no useful information to someone trying to decide between a TX22 and a P322.

I have the regular TX22 just sent 700+ rounds of misc 22lr. Golden bullet, CCI, Super aguila, and some, under powered ammo from years ago Thursday without cleaning it from the previous 500rnds from 2 weeks ago. Not 1 single failure. Excellent ergos, you can't go wrong with the TX22

I am an older (76 years old) experienced shooter and have shot my whole life. I know a lot about guns. You brought a lot of good info to the table and it was a good comparison. However there are a few things that you did not emphasize. (1) Price, the TX is a more expensive gun. (2) Barrel length, 1 1/2 inches longer for the TX. (3) Weight, less recoil of course, but a detriment to a older or smaller shooter. (4) The TX is tuned for all the tests you conducted, the 322 is not. (5) Four more rounds in any gun is really a big deal. A better comparison would be a stock TX22 vs Sig P322. I have and shoot both, and like them both. The 322 is a better gun all around, but cost a $100 more.
@ChestersHobbies
@ChestersHobbies 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bob! I appreciate the additional thoughts. I agree with all of it. The price of the TX seems to have fluctuated a bit and I believe I did mention that if you didn't want to run optics, the standard TX is almost certainly the best bang for the buck. Barrel length is a factor for sure - and so would slide length which adds to sight radius - however with an optic I find that to make less of a difference. You're definitely right on the advantages of a lighter gun, especially if the goal is to have a whole day at the range. Even just a few ounces can make a big difference with a long range session. And yeah you're right on about the tests. My background is more competition shooting focused so that's what I know. Not as much of a strength for the P322 as the TX22 Comp, but I have to say - the P322 still does an awesome job in that regard! Agree as well on the magazine size. I'm still waiting for Sig's 25 round magazines to become readily available. That's a whole lot of fun in one mag. Thanks so much for watching!

The Standard TX22 goes for right around $300. I haven’t seen a P322 for less than $499. The TX22 competition is an entirely different weapon, purpose built for pistol competition. It’s so different from the standard TX22, that most of the major components aren’t interchangeable between the two. My standard TX22 hasn’t had any non ammo related issues, and doesn’t seem to be really ammo sensitive. My Walther P22Q, on the other hand, is SUPER ammo picky, and has failures to feed and/or extract with all kinds of different ammo brands. My SR22 is also not really ammo sensitive.

Thanks for this comparison - I'm glad you mentioned looks, I think you're right. Call me shallow but I think the Taurus is as ugly as sin and I'd be much more inclined to use the Sig just based on aesthetics....Honestly I'd prefer the looks of the Glock G44 the most but more basic sights, a 10 round mag limit and no option for a red dot, Glock needs to release a G44 2.0 before I'd go that route.

Happy to help! I almost never hear people talking about the importance of looks. I have a lot of guns, and the ones that I'm most attracted to are typically the ones I reach for when dry firing or going to the range more often than not. It matters more than people think in my opinion - just human nature. Thanks for watching!

You put a competition gun against an EDC. The TX22 has a built in compensator to help reduce muzzle rise further. As a competition gun, it was designed for competition, not a CCW. The Sig, on the other hand, was designed to be just what it is, a handgun. Put a compensator on the Sig, instead of a "silencer", and you'll get less muzzle rise, too. Had you put the P322 against a standard TX22 and it would have been a fair match. I do appreciate the time, effort, and information shared, but I couldn't help but feel everything was put more in favor of the TX22. BTW, in the real world of EDC and self-defense, when do you have time to screw on a suppressor? And how do you CCW a gun with a suppressor, in the first place? I can see the value of a suppressor in a controlled environment, but not the practicality of everyday carry with a suppressor.

I just bought the Sig because I'm so frustrated over constant failure to feed on my TX22, I've seen other videos where people had problems and all they had to do was clean the magazines and hit them with some dry-lube and everything was peachy but this wasn't my experience. I've tried numerous ammo types and brands and did find that CCI stingers were probably the best but are double the cost of other .22 ammo despite still being dirt cheap. Fortunately I have 9mm and 10mm options for self defense but if I ever had to fall back on my .22 it would be nice if it was reliable.

Early in January, Illinois Governor JB Pritzger outlawed pistol magazines over 15 rounds, and also banned the threaded barrel & compensator. This pistol is now unlawful for sale in Illinois. If you owned it before Jan.10th, you must register it with the state before the end of this year.

Now having been to the range with them 3 & 4 times, the TX22 is the more reliable gun for me. They are both accurate. The Sig is very accurate but after seeing all the videos on how reliable they are, my 322 must be a lemon. Sorry to hear about your 322. It does seem that the magazines are very sensitive to how they are loaded. There are some good videos on how to best load for reliability. If it continues to be an issue I would recommend contacting Sig, they should be able to get you straightened out.

I fired my new TX-22 Sunday and it fired 300 with no issues. I used CCI Minimags 40 grain, load the ammo in correctly and unless you have a lemon, you should be just fine. It impressed me so much that I am really thinking about cancelling my 322 order. I have until May 4th. I just don't know if 4 or 9 more shots are worth 400 bucks. If I was having issues with the TX, it would be a no brainer to pick up the 322.

Congrats on the new TX22! Awesome guns, hopefully it will continue to treat you well. Tough call, both are great guns. It's a matter I suppose of if you're a collector or if you only want one good 22 pistol, or if you do both competition and want to train with something similar to your full size centerfire setup. That said if you got the regular TX-22 and are shooting with irons, and would plan on shooting the 322 with irons as well, I think they start to become even more similar at that point. Good luck and enjoy!

Awesome firearm but AGAIN we have the USUAL scumbags (typical Gunbroker sellers), somehow getting their hands on a good number of the particular firearm in the spotlight and increase the SELLING COST by at LEAST 40%. F'ing disgust me. I'm not paying $700 for a firearm whose MSRP is $399.

Ok just got the competition TX22 and fed it CCI subs and Remingtons and very cool little (big) gun. I was scratching my chin when adding a micro dot to the slide which is a quarter of a slide and the red dot seats within it instead of towards the back. The red dot is a Doctor which turned out as useless. Slapped a can on mine and with the subsonic 22 there’s no need for ears. Hell, any round read low enough decibels for no need for ears but I did have foam inserts to mitigate a mild 6dcb from the noise. I didn’t have one malfunction and the mags worked as they should. This gun fires fast and forget the optics. It doesn’t need them. We run specialized drills consisting of a bench with firearm laid on its side to the left (I’m ambi) , magazines to the right. We time picking up the gun and then mag , inserting mag and charging, aim and fire two in the lungs , right then left, and one in the head (forehead between eyes). Then setting gun down magazine out back to start. Second drill is same but mag dumping as fast as possible. The drill timer showed 2.7 seconds average and a 3.4 on the dump. I’m a Sig guy and everyone in the community knows I advocate for Sig , often verbally against the Glock fanboys, but I attest to the absolute quality and functionality of Taurus firearms as of the last two decades it’s been a grand improvement that honestly began when the chief engineer at Barretta was assigned to Taurus and of course the acquisition of Beretta taking control of Taurus. Have not gotten the new Sig 22 but it’s coming. I’m a trigger snob and will berate a firearm that doesn’t have a good one. Creep, sponginess, travel and or gritty ness and long resets are a negative imo. It’s the fundamental function of all firearms that can save or take your life or someone else’s life. Aim is important accuracy a must. This Taurus has it all. with or without a sight.

I completely agree on the Taurus, glad you're enjoying yours! They really hit it out of the park with this one. I love my TX22(I have the regular version, not the competition), I have put thousands of rounds through it. There's only been one box of ammo I bought that I had consistent feeding trouble with. I think it was blazer, but I don't remember. Rem Thunderbolt bulk 22 ammo runs great through mine with no hiccups. I also have 25 round mags thanks to the +9 mag extension. My only problem with the gun is the sights. For the first few thousand rounds they were perfect. Now after being used so much the rear sight has become loose and floats around a bit. It will have to be replaced. My biggest recommendation for anyone shooting a lot of 22 is to check out the McFadden speed loader. I got one and the attachment for the TX22 mags and it has completely changed my plinking experience. I used to go with my friend and with 2 people reloading mags by hand, or using a thumb speed loader, we would just finish a box of 500 before we were tired of loading mags enough to decide to stop shooting. Now with the mcfadden loader I could easily go through 1000 rounds in a single plinking session.

Now that some time has passed, if the price didn’t matter, which would you recommend? I really like the Sig for its ambi slide release and larger capacity. I did hear some people have had lead fouling and customer service issues though. That’s the only thing I’m worried about as the TX22 has a pretty solid reputation from what I’ve seen. I’m a righty but I have wrong-handed family members and it would be great to have full ambi controls for range days. Thanks for all the effort you put in your videos! I really like the POV shooting!

Thank you so much for the kind words! This is a great question. I can say that since this video was released, if I wanted to shoot a 22 pistol, 9 times out of 10 I've been reaching for the Sig. I have a lot of 9mm sig pistols as well so the feel is familiar, and it's continued to run excellently for me. Paying close attention when loading to make sure the rounds don't nose dive is key, but other than that it's run great and I haven't had any leading issues with mine. YMMV and the Taurus is still a fantastic gun, better in some ways for certain applications, but I've been loving the Sig personally. Thanks for watching!

Have the TX22 and just like it, some people hate it, kind of nice we have tons of options because there are infinite reasons people have preferences. I don't like Sigs in general, don't know why, my wife and son who shoots for a living in the Navy does like Sigs. I have 2,000(400 suppressed)rounds through my p322 with 0 failures. But the holosun kept coming loose on my p322 ever few hundred rounds. I’ve used loctite and tightened to the correct torque but it would still come loose. I think it’s the lack of the two front posts on the 322 optic cut that are meant to secure the optic from lateral movement, because none of my other holosuns have ever come loose on my 9’s or my fnx 45. I got tired of re-zeroing and tightening the screws so I threw on a Romeo zero I had laying around and it hasn’t moved after a few hundred rounds. Has anyone else had issues with the holosun coming loose on their P322?

I've had a Mark IV and Browning Buckmark as well. They are excellent target pistols. If you envision yourself doing more bullseye style shooting, they would be a great choice. The Glock 22lr and the Tarus are the only true striker fired 22lr`s I am aware of. The others including the Sig are internal hammer. The Sig is probably the best internal hammer. This is from what I have seen. I live in a city. The 22lr is there to give me extra range time. I would love to live in or near a place where I could set up targets. I get sick of range fees etc. The is a real cost that adds up.

Hey there, thanks for watching. I'd have to look back and see if I misspoke, but my intent was to suggest that the 322 is a good rimfire trainer that operates similarly to a center fire pistol because the red dot reciprocates with the slide, unlike the TX22 that keeps the dot in one place, not reciprocating with the slide, which is uncommon for center fire handguns with the exception of some niche competition style guns. Sorry for the confusion.

I recently purchased the Sig P322 hoping I would end up with a good one after a lot of negative reviews. Mine was made in Jan 2023 so I knew I had a better chance with some of the changes they had made and knowing a few friends who have the 'newer generation' were having no issues. All I can say is that this pistol has become my number one 22LR pistol beating my TX22 competition in every way. It has had 0 FTF, 0 FTE, 0 light primer strkes running with suppressor for the first 1000 rounds. It shoots MUCH more accurately (grapefruit size groups standing at 25 yards) than my TX22. The groups with the TX22 at 25 yards open up quite a bit more. Running holoson 407k on Sig and Vortex Venom on TX22. Both guns are equally as reliable and has eaten everything I tried which include Aguila HV copper RN 1255 fps, Norma Tac 22 1100 fps, Federal American Eagle 970 fps, CCI SV 1070 fps, and CCI Quiet 835 fps. Only time I had light primer strikes with both was when I ran the CCI quiet 835 fps without suppressor (out of 20, maybe 2 wouldn't cycle). This pistol is awesome!
