I came to use firearms later in life, and over several trips to the range renting a variety of pistols, I chose the TX22 as my "training wheels" pistol. It's reliable and accurate out of the box, already sighted in, with decent capacity magazines, and "relatively" cheap ammo so I can spend less than $50 each time I visit the range. I've added capabilities and calibers to my armory since then, but the TX22 remains the gun I train with most often because it's just so easy to use.

With ammo prices and scarcity, for me, the TX22 makes a nice little substitute to scratch that itch on the range and train with, since it's larger framed, has all the manual of arms features in the right place as most defensive pistols and has mag capacity that match with most as well. Great trainer. Couple that with a CMMG AR 22lr conversion kit, and you have a nice 22lr training setup that won't break the bank.

This pistol changes the perception of the 22
@rrshowtime39004 жыл бұрын
Why do you say that? Please explain..
@busymountain4 жыл бұрын
@@rrshowtime3900 everyone knows and loves the 22. But for years it’s been disqualified as a real weapon by many. Now with great amount of rounds and easy to shoot and great ergonomics of the pistol many feel comfortable shooting a 22 if they had to use it for defense. Most people aren’t very good with handguns and are reluctant to shoot a larger caliber but are comfortable shooting a 22 and with lots of rounds means I may not need to change a magazine if a situation comes up. The sales and popularity of this weapon I’d bet is bought for the use in defense as much or more as its use for training for a larger caliber weapon. Though people may not want to admit that. Id even suggest that competition will eventually catch up to this TX22 as sales for a high round count easy and inexpensive to shoot pistol is really what most people want.

I've bought two of these this year...one of them had magazine failures on both magazines...plus one of two aftermarket magazines had the same failure. The issue seems to be that the plastic magazines have a bit of a "wave" to them which causes the follower to bind and tilt as it goes up and down. I've seen people sand down, clean, and lube the magazines to correct this, but that's just unacceptable. I called Taurus support, and while not difficult to work with, they also weren't very helpful. They would only replace *one* of the two magazines that came with the pistol, and told me to take my extra mag that failed back to the store for an exchange. Overall I'm happy with the pistol itself, just not the magazines and Taurus support.
@paulcarlin51812 жыл бұрын
I wonder if the mag issues are because of the capacity. It will be interesting to see how the mags hold up on the new Sig .22 since it holds more ammo. back in 2007 when i started, 1000 rounds of 9 was roughly $100. I wish I bought a pallet or two!

Geez, the only thing missing on Eric's duty belt is a Twisted Tea kydex holster.

I love this gun especially now when ammo is so hard to find. You can get some real trigger time on a handgun that has relevant cross over training for full sized handguns. But I also agree Taurus is hit or miss and this is the only one I own.

Yes, it's normal sized, which is what I wanted, not some teensy pocket pistol. It's the size of a Glock 19.

@@nmr3352 but .22, so it could definitely be smaller was his point

Shooting at 25 yards I also got some wild fliers with this gun. So badly that I was worried they were baffle strikes, but there was no damage to the can. I guess it was just the gun or the ammo.

This gun is awesome. One thing mine hates thunder bolts. And back a couple of years ago I found TB’s for $120 a case so I have a few of them.

I would get this over the other popular full size 22 plinkers out there. Good price, great reviews everywhere I look and you can't hate the high capacity mags.

The beretta m9 made by umarex is a better made pistol.......but the taurus comes threaded out of the box. I would also say a ruger m4 is a better pistol.....they just need a update to take them to 16+ rounds Build wise the taurus is cheap but it works hahaha

It took me 1 year to find one in stock and I found one yesterday in Flat Dark Earth for $325.00 I put 100 rounds thru it and I like it! I will use it for dispatching Gators, Coyotes & 300 & 400 pound Feral hogs caught in my traps. I am a nuisance wildlife control operator licensed to trap these dangerous animals. The .22 LR puts them down and out without a problem with a shot to the head. I prefer the CCI Velocitor 40 grain copper-plated hollow point @ 1435 fps for clean one-shot kills.

“I didn’t know this either”. Are The 16 round mags hard for you to find? Don’t pass up on the 10 round mags if you can buy them. You can go to Tandemkross or one of the other vendors that are selling the +3/+5/+9 extension kits. The body of the 10 round mags is hollow (same as 16 round mags) - the only difference is the side cut out (which you don’t use after taking the plug out of the follower, the internal spring is replaced with the one you buy in the extension kit and the Internal Limiter (a piece of added black tubing, is removed). You can convert a 10 round mag using the tandemKross +5 round kit to now hold 21 rounds. It works. FYI
