Great tip regarding fully seating the pellets with the included tool vs just using your finger. I fully seated mine with the tool and that might explain why I experienced some jams / unfired pellets.

One thing I tried and it made a major difference in accuracy for the mcx .177 and I'm sure it will work for the .22 version. Slightly drill out the little white flanges in the belt that holds the pellets. It's the flaw of the belt. It damages the pellets before it even gets into the barrel. At 25 yards It went from a 8" group to 1-1/4". Downside is that if you drill the flanges completely out... The pellets will fall out of the belt! Sig needs to redesign the belt.

Matt Mann no I agree 💯... Especially considering their ASP20 break barrel which actually has some a lot of features for a “magnum” rifle (lighter cocking especially for a magnum 30-33lbs, decent power, ambidextrous safety, bear trap barrel safety feature for mostly user error, but it keeps the barrel from snapping on your fingers while loading in case you let go of the barrel after you cock it while loading a pellet ) and is reportedly incredibly accurate for a break barrel. I’m sure they are already designing a new PCP as I’m writing this. Trial and error I guess?

It would have not been that difficult. They would just need to upgrade the internal valve. The rest is as simple as changing the bottle and adding a 2200 psi regulator. Currently they are internally regulated to 1200 psi in addition to the external regulator.

This Virtus seems to do quite so good with them GTO pellets. Too bad never seen them for sale around here. And whatever light alloy pellets that I do have found - they do tend to be pretty damn expensive.. Oughta just find some light-ish lead pellets instead..😁 I yesterday bought myself a tin of .22 RWS Hobby pellets (along with a couple of different Gamo pellets). Had recently read that Hard Air Magazine had gotten some pretty good results with them Hobbys - therefore I decided to buy of them myself also. They were not expensive to buy - and it is only a 25min drive to get plenty more if proven good. Just test shot them Hobbys. Were a bit nervous if they'd jam up the Virtus, since having experiences of flathead RWSs jamming up an MCX before.. But no. Seems good. No idea of the accuracy yet (not that great though I think). Have been shooting mostly to sight in my cheap 4x32 scope and to see if it works properly. So far all good. The outer barrel shroud though does seem terribly engineered. Need to fix that before even concidering any accurate shooting. I though did get shots "grouped" (one nasty flyer, otherwise maybe a 3" group) within 5" from a distance of 25 metres.. My rest setup though was not the best (a big two-wheeled plastic trash container with a couple of cardboard boxes on top of each other to rest the handguard on) - but was okay for a rather quick 60 shot test to get the scope somewhat tuned in. I definitely want a way better scope in the future. Something with a bigass magnification!😂 I've shot 1.5" groups using a 1x30 red dot as also with this 4x32 scope from 20 metres using my .177 co2 MCX. Aaand 25m is only 5m further.. But the .177 co2 MCX do have a better made outer barrel construction imo. If you go and screw the threaded parts in the front of the Virtus...something just oughta change. No idea if it is good to tighten the inner barrel nut very tight towards the plastic outer barrel shroud - or to let it be slightly snug. The outer barrel just seems to make a wiggly barrel setup. But he inner barrel alone seemed way sturdy before attaching the outer barrel. I hope this Virtus gets a straight manufactured, one-piece metal shroud in the future... But overall. I AM happy with my Virtus. No jams so far. And I hope it stays that way.. And now out for some advice.. How to store this Virtus? Air-wise, I mean.. I have now had it upped with air (~2700ish psi) with the tank on the rifle - to keep pressure on the internal valve, to see if it holds, and it seemingly does not leak. Stored with airtank on - or off? Have read of broken tank seal rings due to removal of airtank all the time. I would prefer it on. The manometer placement is perfectly upwards btw.😁 If stored on - is it better to shoot the pressure down? And if so - to how low? Red-meets-green low?. Would be way more handy to go shooting with the pressure already upped. My second tank filling session started my me having to first disassemble my handpump totally..😂 Oh. And yea.. Does your airtank "tick" when filled. Mine keeps this ticking sound with every press.. Love that! Something that makes me know my pumping works and it is getting filled. And my manometer btw is chrome with a white face - and not black as mentioned in your pt.1 video. I do not mind it at all. Just wanted to share. The airtank writing (vertical/horizontal layout) has seemingly also changed between some Virtus videos online. I think UK models might have gotten different printing on them..? -And edit number...?? Pellet seater. Definitely need to make one for .22 also. The pellet seater in the grip did press the 18+gr Gamo PCP Special domed pellets out. Bought some Gamo Pro Hunter pellets yesterday also. Looks alike the PCP Specials - but only shorter and are therefore lighter also. But I want a pellet seater. I am a creature of habit myself. And I want them skirts a wee bit more into the belts than just my fingers pushes them - for the cone behind the belt to better seal the joint - or at least in theory.

Yes...I tried several of them. The problem is the belt grooves cut tiny notches in the lead pellet skirts which affects the trajectory and thus the accuracy. I have still not found any of them GTOs for me to test.. But the RWS Hobbys surely been great. The RWS Superdomes then - totally crap (in mine at least). I did not get any RWS S.Hollowpoints even though I were out to buy of them - so, I bought only of the Superdomes.. But lately the Gamo Pro Match ("Pro Match" are smooth skirted - regular "Match" are groove skirted) pellets gotten to shoot way good. Even outperformed the RWS Hobbys the last time I shot the Pro Match pellets. A 45mm group with 30 shots at 30 meters. The Hobbys might get to be my 15m range pellet of choice as the Gamos might get to be my 30meter pellet since the group so good for the price - if keeps performing this good, that is.. Still all domed pellets has so far not been that good in my Virtus for some reason.. That grip buttplate holding the sight adjuster+seating tool had a slightly poor clip on the other side. Sat a bit loose. I rolled a piece of black tape into a roll pin and put it inside the bad clip cavity. Now the grip plate sits more secure.. I just a while back read of some poor guy who had lost his grip plate and tool somewhere. Just wanna now raise awareness of this thing also.

@@AirgunDetectives I just felt that the other tab of the grip buttpiece seemed to be already a bit pressed in and it had this loose wiggle to it. Never was an issue really. But I adressed to it just since someone happened to lose their. I'd just be damn annoyed if that happpened to me...even tvough I,do nlt either really go far places with it along..😁 And again we just come to that thing where preferred pellets are chosen by the barrel.. Just damn mindblowing - kinda. Manufacturers just do not seem to do perfectly identical copies of their barrels...or something. I were though wondering about the inner barrel. I did a while back play around with it. Pushed pellets thru it with a rod. Mostly one pellet at a time. But then also even three iin a row (the latter ones to keep the first pellet exiting out straight and not bend after the head is out from the barrel). I just noticed how it was kinda choked at both ends. Took quite some force to enter the pellet from the rear. After the skirt was in and reshaped according to rifling, it still was quite tight in there. The mid section though was loose, and the pellets went along way easy, all until the muzzle end. At the muzzle end all went stiff again.. Just as if the inner barrel woulda wiggled around in a spinning process while being made - you know: as a jump rope acts, but just way more straight manner.. These probably oughta be like this but it annoyed me once again (the .177 MCX was somewhat alike). So I made a taper shape rod (just by twisting) of very fine steel wool and honed the barrel ends using a cordless drill. Mostly I worked on the rear entry hole so the pellets would get a longer and smoother entry line.... Yeaa.. If you understand what I am telling you here...you probably say that I am crazy.😂 I do have seen "ruin the barrel" comments just because someone used a cotton bud to clean their barrel.. But whattahell. My rifle. The RWS Hobbys still shoot as good. But the Gamo Pro Match pellets they stepped up a notch. From 3-4" into sub 2" group at 30m - and that was kicking the RWS Hobbys ass..😂 If the Gamos performance stay like this, then they'll be my next 30m pellet of choice since them being heavier (15.42gr) than the Hobbys. Dunno, but I've been quite so happy with my Virtus lately. Been shooting two mags every morning before work. Sometimes 30m grouping - sometimes spray paint can destroying..😁

Yea.. I also were a bit sceptical that I had gotten myself all the right parts for filling this one up. Luckily the rifle did have only that plain round knob on the tank for a female quick-connector - which was included in my PCP airpump package. No need to buy separate parts. Seen many "how to fill your PCP" videos.. But they hardly ever go into it enough - for newbies (like myself) in the PCP world at least. If my handpump's hose/whip would've come with a 1/8" thread at the other end - I woulda needed to go out to buy a quick-connector..

A pt.2? Nice! All additional info is always welcome. Way nice of you. Thank you once again! Wanted to know the barrel thread size myself also - even were not gonna really add anything myself. I heve not really used the pellet seater with my old co2 MCX either. I always use this one specific ballpoint pen instead. Works as good. Just do not push the pellets thru. Flush with front works though. I just always seat the pellets so the cone (up inside the magwell) behind the mag/belt is able to easily fit into the belt and seal the airway from the valve as tight as possible. There also is this fork-type of piece above the belt that lowers down towards the belt top when pulling the trigger. It might be working better on this new model. The .177's coned piece within the magwell seems to be a bit more rounder than coned on this new gun in comparison to the old one. (Yeah. Been comparing pics of my co2 rifle to screenshots of this new PCP model 😂) Would like to get my hands on one of these PCPs... NOW!!😂😂
@AirgunDetectives
@AirgunDetectives 4 жыл бұрын
I found it absolutely necessary to seat the pellets with the .177 Co2 models but it's just not the case with this rifle. They go in pretty easy and it just doesn't change the accuracy. I do think those small groves in the pellet slots on the belt does affect the accuracy. You can see small grooves cut into the skirts on the lead pellets. Not as much on the alloy, which explains why the GTO's are much more accurate.

@@AirgunDetectives Yea. I only got the .177 MCX. Therefore I don't yet know the exact differences between the two. But nice to hear your pellets fit good in there and has worked more than well even without seating them. Always a good bonus. I have noticed the grooves in the .177 belts. Definitely deforms the skirts at least when seating. Crosman pellets are way tight to fit into the .177 version - but 7gr RWS Club pellets go easy, and shoot way tighter if not taking account the drop of the hits on target because of the co2 cooldown and powerloss. My most loosely fitted pellets do have been the most accurate on target overall.. .... Oh man.. I am now getting just more and more excited and anxious to get my hands on one of these!! 😁😁 The whole waiting game just sucks. All this time - ans still not enough of these rifles for everyone that wants one. And some of those who have gotten of these - mostly have complained it not having enough power? Luckily I am only to shoot paper and reactive targets within 20 yards... Btw. Thank you for replying so darn well to everyone. It feels truly uncommon to be able to interact with the holders of channels. You must be very much into airgunning. Myself mostly being into co2 replica pistols and military style replica rifles. No match accuracy airguns on my behalf. Just love tuning replicas. But I do have liked to watch your reviews of any break barrel you have taken in front of the camera. @@brorjordas1979 I have more Replica pistols than rifles and I did some custom barrels on a few. 1911's are my favorite and I think I have every model made. As far of this MCX PCP I just ordered some different regulators and bottles. The MCX is regulated at 1100 psi. I am going to test 1200, 1500 and 1800 psi regulators and see how this rifle performs. Also I reached out to Sig for additional belts. I want to reduce or eliminate the grooves. I am betting we can greatly improve the accuracy. Would be sweet with just a perfectly snug fitted smooth bore in the belts.. Also very interested in your custom barrel replica pistols. A big replica airpistol fan here. Drove a 4.5mm drill thru one of my .177 MCX belts at the weekend. I softly grinded about 1" of the tip a bit thinner so it became slightly cone in shape and I could push safely the drill a bit thru the belt bore first, before the drill actually starting to cut the grooves. Pushed the drill completely thru the belts. Still left some grooves left to hold my RWS Club pellets from slipping out of the belt after seating them. But the pellets went much easier in there and would not stay in there without pushing them deep inside. Probably coulda used even a slightly bigger drill bit. But since my next drill size woulda been 5.0mm - I decided to go with the 4.5mm. These plastic holes do usually expand a bit - and especially with a thin wall around like this. Woulda been interested to see what the result would be with a 4.7mm drill - but did not find any. Might next consider a small round file if I find a suitable one for the job. Did shoot a mag already thru the belt using a 12g capsule this morning before work. But did not have time to set up my bipod and all for more accurate shooting. Had to sight-in my red dot sight (yeah, oughta buy a scope for it) because having my MCX all apart on the table this weekend. Maybe need to adjust and lead in the inner barrel also once again for more precise results. But I did manage to shoot a sub 1" group with a 3 shot string. Probably 10 meters? Did not take time to measure the distance.

I’m wondering if this can run the FX Hybrid .22 slugs? As a disclaimer I know very little about airguns, but this rifle generated my interest. From the videos I’ve seen on them they appear to do a great job.

Sorry, just a comment and a bit of venting. Nice review as you always do, but I'm wondering if others feel the same way about platforms like this. Why would a company put such obvious time and energy into an AR platform, and give it such low power? My guess is that they are hoping some law enforcement agency will try to save money on .223/556 ammunition in training and substitute this air rifle in its place. I can tell you as a law enforcement officer myself, very few, if any, law enforcement agencies are going to do this. Given this, why wouldn't Sig Sauer actually GIVE THIS RIFLE SOME POWER to actually be able to hunt and have a modicum of accuracy???!!! As it is, this air rifle is simply something to use to plink cans with, or give to a youngster in order to teach how to shoot and care for a rifle. There is nothing wrong with this, but don't advertise this as anyting but a beginners rifle. The going prices for this rifle seems to be just under $400. If this were made to shoot 850 to 900 fps and would shoot slugs or hybrids, I would GLADLY pay $600+ for it as it would be a "one of a kind" rifle!!!! Very frustrating, and as such my prediction is that it will SELL POORLY in the retail market (Dicks, Sportsman's Warehouse, etc.) because it's upper end price range, but will also have MANY people buying and then returning it back to the mail order houses (Pyramid, Airgun Depot etc.) due to their dissapointment in accuracy and power! Come on.... who does the research and advisement on these projects??? I hate to be the downer here, but come on guys!

I totally agree.. that is why the are recalling these and upgrading the design. I shared all that information plus some with Sig's engineer dept. I sent them an entire page of issues they should address. I was advised they will be addressing those issues and a "much" improved version would be released possibly this summer. Read my comments directly under the video. Thanks for watching and I appreciate your comments 👍

@@JERELLE_MULLINS Kinda cool you do can use also co2 with the Virtus - although I bought the Virtus just because I wanted to use air instead.😁😁 I have owned a .177 MCX co2 rifle ever since it came out. One awesome rifle. The only negative of it was the power drop once the co2 started cooling down. The more powerful shots the MCX shot - the more rapid powerloss. Thought of getting an HPA kit for it - but the co2 MCX is not internally built to use air as good as co2.

@@JERELLE_MULLINS What's the output pressure on your Ninja tank's regulator? Higher pressure might help some - but the MCX and MPX still have a way smaller plenum tube in comparison to the Virtus.. I would love to make my old MCX into a sole project gun and give it a new and bigger tube for HPA use - but first I'd want a new MCX to keep all co2 original. Would not mind owning an MPX also. @brorjordas1979
@brorjordas1979 3 жыл бұрын
Someone already tested this og valve with only power-upgrading the regulator. It did handle about up to 1500+psi or so. Much more than that and the valve jammed shut because of the high pressure.

There are no screws for adjusting the trigger weight on these (or at least on the old .177 co2 version at least - and according to the internal parts picture on the box of this .22 PCP). The pullweight consists of many small things. The trigger is affected by seveeral moving parts; rods, springs, pivit points etc.. But if taken apart and then smoothing carefully all moving parts and adding some good lube in there - the trigger can get amazingly good and smooth. Even without replacing any original springs. Did it on my co2 MCX, - and I got stunned how it had changed. The first stage, that moved the belt, was originally quite noticeable on the trigger.. Therefore I believe you can get even a smoother trigger on this one also. But I believe, when AgD says it does not feel like a 9fp trigger. The trigger is truly one of it's own because of the whole internal system..
