Got me a SIG P220 that is nearly 40 years old and it runs as good as my HK P30! (which is the epitome of out-of-the-box combat pistols chambered in 9mm, someone find me a better gun than the HK P30 that isn't some $1500k + custom piece and I'd like to know about it! Maybe the Rex Zero? anyway sorry, brain damaged, autistic, PTSD-addled combat vet here so I ramble quite often) I wish I could have carried the P220 in more than a few situations, I went from the M9 1st tour to Glock 19 2nd tour but my third I wasn't in the same type of job, much closer up so I was one of the few pulling the good ol' HK Mark 23 SOCOM out, but IMO the SIG P220 is as good a gun, similar capacity depending on the mags, the P227 is a more accurate comparison but to me they are all three of the best combat .45s made. Good video. I own both a p220 without rails and a P227 tacops with suppressor sights and the slides both interchange with each other - but the slide catch will not work on the p227 when the p220 slide is on it. The magazines for the 227 will not push high enough to engage the slide release / hold open lever. I use the safariland 6378-477 holster for the p-226R (PRAIL) for both these pistols. The holster rubs slightly on the front suppressor height sight when drawing; but will draw without snagging. Hope this helps and Sig .45 acp collectors.

@@lexevo how's your hearing? You're probably younger than me (60) but have hearing checked. There can be immediate or delayed effects from unprotected gunfire, esp INDOOR gunfire. I never had your experience but I carried with job for 20 and popped a lot of caps (always with govt muffs...2d rate). Seven months before retirement, I get hit with a brand new friend for life... tinnitus (crickets forever, nonstop), complete (three yrs later) with 10-15% high freq hrng loss. I want to go with suppressor and even bought threaded barrel for 220 but shooting with my suppressor on Glock 21SF has been very disappointing as far as accuracy goes. Main thing, as you know, in gun fight is survival. But once that's been accomplished, it'd be nice to hear normally. @@teller1290the adrenaline was so high, I didn’t even hear the shots go off. Not that it was deafening, I just didn’t have time to notice the noise. My hearing is amazingly good, and it’s a curse for me 39 now. I hear every rattle possible in my car and every pebble that gets stuck in my treads. I never use hearing protection while firing 5.56, .308, 300 wing mag or hand guns. I hope to get my hearing down to where I don’t hear these little rattles, but unsuccessful so far. I’m being serious btw. But yeah, indoor gun fight, the hearing is the least of my problems. That being said, a .50 bmg is no joke without hearing. Damn, price is going down! (elaborate post on preferences) I picked up an HK P30 SK (backup) and SIG P220 Carry (duty), got both for $1250! Getting me my old service pistol back which were an M9 and then an H&K Mark 23 (though it wasn't a popular load-out option unless specifics required it, I was great with it. wasn't much heavier than the M9 anyway) $500-650 for an HK P30 and HK P30 SK LEM, I have seen DAK-Trigger SIG P226 in .40 for $649 today, barely used, and a great DAK trigger SIG P239, a SIG P227 /w SRT trigger for $720. My P220 was made not even 1 year ago, came with three magazines, I had a 10% vet discount so I got $75-ish off but still...amazing price @ $620 (After tax and discount). Personally I like the SIG P220 more than the SIG P227 as well. Can't go wrong with either but you can carry the single-stack with great comfort in a shoulder holster, my 6"4 arse carries it OWB or IWB pretty easily. IMO you picked the #2-3 best defensive sidearm ever made, I consider the HK MARK 23 SOCOM to be the best and the HK P30/Beretta M9 and SIG P220-226 (the 9mm and .45 versions, the .40s are just fine too but...im partial to the .45 myself, like you :P ), not saying I'm the best authority but I AM an authority on the subject. get a 10+1 round mag for your carry and use the 8+1 mags as backup, you'll never actually reload in a firefight (look at the civvy statistics on this, if you did you;'d be the exception proving the rule). Since you got the full size grips and are likely carrying OC or semi-concealed you might as well carry 11 rounds of +P of your choice (Speer Gold Dot 200 grain, also some of the Wilson Combat .45 ACP rounds look great, Buffalo Bore, etc...Speer is probably in the top-5, I recommend checking out SIG's 185-200grain +P V-crown JHPs, very non-traditional JHPs. Got some for my .38 and they work great, a smidge over-penetration but still great)

The example given of the difference of the grip thicknesses might have been better illustrated if the two mag wells had been shown. Also, maybe more of the later models produced are available with the E2 ( Ergonomics Squared ) grip. This newer grip effectively "narrows" the thickness of the grip frame as well as decreases the trigger reach. It is intended to appeal those shooters who do not possess "Paul Bunyan" hands.

P227 works just fine. It didn't sell as well as the P220 because it has a much larger grip. It feels a lot larger than the numbers lead you to believe. It's also heavier, so if you are carrying it, fully loaded with 230gr rounds, that weight adds up. I have both.
