It's because good eyesight had left the chat... At least that's how that was in my case when I stopped reading sheet music when I played the violin and just played either what I remembered, or songs by ear (perfect pitch gang). But now I have glasses that are actually good and I can read music once again

Imagine being part of the orchestra that had to perform Mozart's last-minute composition with no time at all to practise, and then having to sight-read _that_ handwriting while on stage. Oof.

but this is one of the things that mozart is known for as a genius. it's said that he had the music perfectly in his mind and then it went straight to the paper, usually not requiring edits to the manuscript. it is generally said his first draft is the final version with no major changes. he is contrasted with beethoven whose manuscripts went through many many drafts and countless edits to get the final version

@LetTheBodyFall
@LetTheBodyFall 4 жыл бұрын
@@edifyguy I deleted my first comment because it was made in haste and out of emotion, and I don't think you deserve that side of me. But let me tell you this. Thanks for bringing back years of insecurity and fear of communicating in a language not my own. Thanks for bringing back years of memories of being mocked and constantly afraid of being bullied for messing up in a language that is considered as a status symbol in my country. Thank you for undoing years of unlearning all of that, unlearning that I don't need to be perfect at it, what's important is that people will understand. Thanks for lowering the self-esteem I've tried to raise for years. People like you, pedantic people like you who, are the reason why so many of us feel so awful when communicating in English, why so many of begin and/or end our points with "sorry for my bad English." All this on a post about penmanship, for god's sake. So thanks for the damage. I appreciate it.
@edifyguy
@edifyguy 4 жыл бұрын
@@LetTheBodyFall Actually, I wouldn't have said anything had you left out the obscenity. The grammar was just a "while I'm at it" thing, ironically because your English was good enough that I assumed you were a native speaker being sloppy. Many native English speakers don't know (or don't care) that the way you phrased that is incorrect. In that regard, well done. Your response post is equally convincing. Your English is actually very good. I know many native English speakers who could not have composed such concise and grammatical paragraphs. Very few native English speakers use the language entirely correctly. I am sorry for carelessly reviving old hurts pointlessly. You may well be the reason I don't poke at strangers' grammar in forums anymore. Clearly there is unintended harm to be done that I had not considered. The reason I said anything in the first place was that it disturbs me that someone tasked with educating the next generation would be so crude as to use an obscenity in a public forum to describe that next generation's bad handwriting. Sure, it's real, and some of it is really bad. Some of it is LAMENTABLE. :) Am I oversensitive on this issue? Perhaps, but I believe that role models should hold themselves to higher standards. Then again, to a non-native speaker it may not be clear how disgusting that word is, since it and many of it's disgusting friends are used with wild abandon in much native-English entertainment, and so it is presented as normative. In some segments of the population it is normative, but in some segments of the population shooting heroin and defecating on the sidewalk are normative as well. I think we can agree that not all norms are good norms. I hope that you can forgive me for the hurt I accidentally caused. I also hope you'll consider avoiding foul language in the future. I hope that future exchanges can be completely friendly. I know I'll be a bit friendlier.

omg same - all the feels from that scene T.T Also I was surprised that Brett only recognized the piece a few bars in haha - I know they both watched Your Lie in April and know a lot of classical pieces in general so I thought Brett would have recognized it immediately too

tbh Editor-san probably has perfect pitch. They keep track of the notes Brett and Eddy are playing and point out the wrong ones. I think we can all just stop for a second to appreciate that
