Sights & Sounds of Firing a Steam Locomotive CNJ 113

Welcome to Minersville PA - Home to the 0-6-0 CNJ steam locomotive, CNJ 113.
Today we are documenting the fire up of this beautiful steam locomotive by volunteers of Project 113 for the Minersville Day Festival 2024.
CNJ 113 is one of five 0-6-0 B7 switchers to survive the scrappers torch and was restored to operating condition in the late 1990s to present under the CNJ Project 113 Trust.
CNJ 113 was a custom designed steam locomotive built by ALCO in 1923 to be used In the coal fields of Pennsylvania. This larger 0-6-0 was designed to stack and build coal trains in the yards at slow speeds. This locomotive had 46,000lbs of tractive effort along with a wide Wooten Designed firebox to burn lesser desired anthracite coal. Boiler PSI was 200PSI.

So cool, Nick. I've had the opportunity to operate a couple of steam locomotives in my career. It's always nice to watch them getting one ready to run. The tank on the Office Car is for the potable water. There is a leather 'bladder' inside of the steel tank. Unless they are completely shot, they can be reconditioned. We were working on a classic passenger car before the owner got sick and ended up selling it to a museum, along with a steam engine that he had totally restored to operational condition. As always, an excellent video.

Very cool I'm impressed and learned couple things liked didn't know you had 2 cleaned the old sand out 1 ? Though what's the temperature of that steam shooting out the side of the cylinders?
