In Sony E - mount it's an amazing option, for Canon APSC is a game changer.

It’s funny but on reviews of the Canon version, Canon users find it horrible because the cheaper lens can keep up with it in sharpness only. I fear it will be this way with every Sigma release. I personally just want Viltrox f/1.2s on Canon RF

@@justinburley8659 I have the Viltrox 1.2’s (and 13/1.4) for my Fuji cameras that I use at weddings and they’re just exceptional. The 27 specifically probably my favorite rendering of a lens ever, and I use a BPM 1/8 filter with it.

I have this lens on my Sony a6700 together with the amazing Sony 16-55 f/2.8 and I have taken it with me to go sightseeing in both Istanbul and western Canada. The Sigma is absolutely great. It is so light and small and due to its 2.8 you can use it both outdoors and indoors. There is nowhere I would go, without this lens.

@@breadandcircuses5644 There is Sigma 18-50 f2.8 lens which is lighter than that 16-55 Sony. Fuji has 8-16 f2.8 and 50mm f1 lenses, they are a bit expensive though.

I have the 10-18mm for my Sony A6700 and I bought immediately when it was announced to pair with my 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN that I already had. The Sigma APS-C family of zoom and prime lenses make my APS-C body perform like full frame bodies at a greatly reduced price. Be interested to see how the perform on the slightly higher Mpixels of the Canon and Fuji APS-C bodies. Hope you enjoyed the canollies at Mikes Pastries in the North End. Thank you and take care.

Interesting. I like the versatility of the zoom but the best thing I like about these ultra wides is that basically everything is in focus which really negates the need for autofocus. I have the TTArtisan 10mm f2, it's one of my favorite lenses and it's really reasonably priced.
@aliendroneservices66212 ай бұрын
"...basically everything is in focus..." Because zooming-out hides the resulting noise from the tiny aperture. Crop in, and you can still see it.
@MobiusCoin2 ай бұрын
@@aliendroneservices6621 Yeah but hitting focus is very easy. The plane of focus isn't a sliver like on a 85mm where AF really helps. Manual focusing at 10mm is very easy.

I'm a professional rock and ice climbing photographer and I swear by this lens on my Fujifilm bodies. AF is better than any native fuji lenses I own, and the tiny size and weight is huge when I'm going deep into the backcountry and need to keep my pack light.
@Benjamin_Jehne2 ай бұрын
It's not only interesting for video in APS-C mode. I shoot a lot of events and you need a super wide for some specific shots but then the lens stays in the bag most of the time. If you use ff cameras with higher mpix, you just take a small 10-18mm F2.8 or the super nice 11mm F1.8 with you, the cameras crops in and you still end with more than 20mpix files. Saves a lot of weight and no one will ever notice the difference. ^^ This is also a valid option for travelling. If you own something like the A7CR, and you want to travel light, just put an APS-C lens on it. The camera is literally an A6700 when used in APS-C mode.

I've been waiting for this one. I have Canon's RF-S 10-18, and based on my experience, I judge it to be "okay." It performs, in my view, better than the old EF-S 10-18mm (I know some people swear by that thing. Maybe I got a lame copy, but it was mediocre.). I definitely preferred my EF-M 11-22 mm over the Canon for build and performance. I'm sorry to see that the price is a bit steeper than I had hoped. Ya just can't have it all!

Back in 2004 the then new Canon EF-S 10-22mm was what motived me to finally make the jump to a DSLR with the 20D. It has been my favorite “walking around” lens ever since with my 20D then 50D bodies and I was pleased to discover it also works with EF-RF adapter on my R6mkII with the camera detecting it and switching automatically to crop mode. But I may soon relegate it to back-up on the 50D if Canon every gets its act together and meets demand for the long back-ordered RF10-20mm f/4. It’s difficult to understand why Canon keeps releasing new lenses but doesn’t produce then in initial batches sufficient to meet initial demand. It just pisses off loyal customers like me and drives us the buy the third-party alternatives like Sigma for lenses and Godox for flash.

I'm glad you that lens and the 20D. I bought that same lens with my 20D, then got a 60D. Some of my best large prints were at 10mm. I haven't jumped to to the R7 because I didn't think the APC lenses were getting better. Now I see this Sigma lens and the Sigma 18 - 50mm F2.8. With F2.8, I should at times be able to get better bokeh as well. I'll have to reconsider the R7 again.

Yea, if you just talk about the diameter of the aperture opening, this difference doesn't seem so big. But you have to look at the area of the opening, and that is 10 square millimetre ((10/2.8/2)^2*Pi) for the Sigma while for the Canon this is is 3.9 square mm. So you see that the Sigma lets in over 2.5x the amount of light at 10mm

Another sponsored video oh my gosh, can you just make a video about photography, please?
what is the argument sticking to dslr and mirrorless full frame cameras and absurdly expensive lenses nowadays when a smartphone can take almost identical pictures, has multiple lenses and SPECIFICALLY the existence of nowadays intelligent AI capabilities able to mitigate various aspects of todays phone's small sensors by eliminating noise, fixing blur, improving HDR significantly etc... also nowadays PROFESSIONAL image manipulation software such as lightroom, photoshop and many others are incorporating AI techniques to fix and manipulate images ! for 99% of people dont see the feasibility spending 1500$+ on BODY ONLY excluding at least 3 more lenses (double the price) basically: Wide-Telephoto and Bokeh, while a smartphone has all three lenses at fraction of the price ! Basically other than the only downside in mirrorless cameras which is MOBILITY the only field a mirrorless camera wins is professional dials and functions + high zoom telephoto lens, and even that is starting to mature in smartphones such as the S24 Ultra+ offering up to 30x zoom (of course using telephoto lens and AI). Am interested to hear from you guys what do you think...
@aliendroneservices66212 ай бұрын
How is *_mobility_* a *_"downside in smartphones"?_* You're saying smartphones are not mobile devices? "...the S24 Ultra+ offering up to 30x zoom..." No such thing. There is an S24 *_Ultra,_* and it offers 5x optical zoom, and 100x digital zoom. (I own one.) Zoomed in, it looks terrible. See the review on this channel.
@TechnoBabble2 ай бұрын
Because my expensive full frame camera has fast, reliable autofocus that I can quickly direct without having to touch a screen. It has physical buttons for all of my settings. It can shoot full resolution RAW stills at 10fps, without any loss of quality. It can sync with flash. It offers me the CHOICE of what lenses I want to use. It has an actually good signal to noise ratio in low light with my wide aperture lenses, meaning I can take photos of moving subjects or in burst without issue. And it's comfortable to use... Holding out a smartphone for more than a snapshot is terrible. On the telephoto end, phones will literally never get anywhere even remotely close, it's just simple physics. The S24 Ultra was a downgrade from previous phones on the telephoto side because they realized that nobody really cares since it's impossible to get something decent out of it. Besides all of that, though, you're comparing high end full frame cameras to smartphones as if that's what is needed to outperform them, and not entry level APS-C cameras with mid range lenses. On that telephoto example, you'd be better off with a used Micro 4/3 camera and telephoto lens. For example, a used Olympus E-M1 II and 75-300 would be about $850USD and is something you can actually shoot sports and wildlife with. You're taking a device that does a lot of things poorly and saying it's equal in quality to that of specialized tools. When you ACTUALLY compare smartphones to cameras, not staged "tests" that try their hardest to make the phone look as close as possible, you'll find that nothing comes close. For stills the newest smartphones are still handily outperformed by decade old cameras.

@aliendroneservices6621 sorry I corrected that mistake I seen a lot of zoom tests since the s23 ultra It got 10x telephoto lens I guess and can do upnto 20-30x zoom in usable quality

@TechnoBabble yes I agreed and I said that the physical dials and options on any camera is far more reliable than a touch screen phone But we still see iphones claiming to shoot movies using them ! And it will be just a matter of time before we see that happen, just like I guess when people finally started shooting videos using a dslr, which was always meant for photos only ! Also I have to admit being able to shoot a will lit scene in 200 mp is far more attractive than shooting it with 20mp full frame ! No offense am a photographer too but am really worried on the future of cameras nowadays that phones are giving much of their functions (except the awful handling of course and lack of physical buttons for manual controls) ..
