Coupled with the Sigma 24-105 f4 A lens, it is a great combination for most landscape work. Really get some whacky shots with it at 12mm. A fun lens for sure.

I've not used the 24-105mm but it sounds pretty good. This 12-24mm isn't bad underrated lens really, though it is slow in speed it covers that crazy wide field of view, it can be fun to play around with.

I used 8-16mm lens on APS-C camera which is kinda similar. It is not everyday lens but rather something for special wow effect shoots. Rare, well thought frames based on perspective play for example. It needs a lots of experience and a good plan for a picture. If you bought that lens just to "show more", in my opinion you doing it wrong. Its main selling point is unusual perspective at wide angle. Moreover, you do not frame anything important near borders (not to mention corners) due to lens distorting it mercilessly (unusual perspective at work). It is well shown by some pictures shown in this video.

Yes many ways to use an UWA lens, angled up or down dramatically increases the effect it can look bad, or it can sometimes look interesting, it's a creative choice. It depends what is in the corners too. IMO this field of view is wider then most people would need, I rarely need wider than 16/17mm on full frame, on APS-C I had an 11-16mm Tokina, and found that wide enough.

@@MrBazReviews in my opinion best is to have all important things in 1/3 (more/less) center part of image. At least keep it off extreme 10-20% side parts. Just treat it (sides) as kinda filler for your composition. Anyway, it might be a very useful tool.
