“Between the Sigma 18-50 F2.8 and the Sony 18-105 F4, if you are still considering which one to buy, I would recommend buying the Sigma lens because F2.8 can really come in useful in a lot of cases. And, if you are worrying about the tele end can buy an 85 mm prime lens. That would be a great combination. Now, if you already have either of these lenses and you are thinking about getting the other one, well, I think you probably don't need both. Either of these lenses combined with a prime lens would make more sense than having both lenses that cover a very similar range, in my opinion. But if you have the budget, the benefit of getting both lenses is that at daytime you can use Sony 18-105 for longer focal length and at night you can use Sigma 18-50. great comparison! I don't ever go above iso 3200 even when doing astrophotography because there is just too much noise on my a6100 [regardless of exposure length]. I actually sold my 18-105 for the sigma 18-50 but I must admit, I miss the zoom toggle for gimbal use. It was super easy to get those vertigo shots when rolling back on a skateboard. With the sigma (especially the trio) I always turn on zebra lines because it becomes very easy to overexpose shots even at iso 100. The 18-105 is a better outdoor run and gun video shooter [with oss] but the sigma 18-50 works so much better indoors on a tripod. It kind of depends on what you are looking for. I love both of these lenses.

Great comparison! I actually decided to get the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8- being able to cut the ISO in half is a good thing for video...I prefer to use lower ISOs...and I already own the SIgma 16mm and 30mm f1.4 but for some events (wedding receptions etc) is not practical changing lenses so a zoom is the most convenient way. I will keep the Sony f4 lens for sure. It's a great lens for sure and besides I also own a Sony a6400 so I can use all my lenses in two Sony APSC bodies. For now. I have the tools to make good videos and make some income. Thanks so much for this video. Takes a lot of hard work to get it together.

I would prefer the sony 18-105 F4 for that longer focal length. For a very low light scenario I prefer a prime lens specifically the F1.4 Sigma trio.

Great choice! The first two lenses I got are Sigma 16mm f1.4 and Sony 18105 f4!

I have just bought the Sigma but im a little bit worried because when filming at F2.8 it as a lot of vignette. Those your sigma have that too? love your videos.

Very informative video. Thank you. I already have sigma 16mm f1.4 and I am planning to take an all around daily lens. What's you advice. I Using my zv e10 for travel video ana I don't want to change lens every moment.

Thank you! If you already have sigma 16mm f1.4, I guess low light isn't a problem, unless you often need longer focal length at night, otherwise Sony 18-105 f4 would be a great choice.
