You can use the focus range limiter to get more consistent shots for moving subjects.

Thanks for the birds in flight autofocus test, I know I should skip this lens now... Wondering how the Tamron 70-180 handles that scenario

Thanks for the review. I was recently in the market for a 70-200. I looked at this lens: the Tamron and the recently updated Sony F4. I will mostly use it for landscape or wildlife and couldn't justify the price of the Sony 70-200 2.8. I bought the F4 version of the Sony because of the lighter weight, macro capabilities, compatibility with the 1.4x teleconverter, and increased frame rate. However, I don't think I could have gone too far wrong with Sigma or the Tamron.

I saw a comparison with the Tamron 70-180 G2. And I like Tamron better in terms of bokeh and depth of the picture, it gives depth and plasticity to the photos. The bokeh of Sigma is too crystalline like taken with an iPhone.

What camera body were you using. It seems you were not using the latest bodies with the AI chip that really hones onto birds like a laser. Please do a follow-up with an A7R5, A7Cii or A7CR and even the a6700. That new chipset really improves the camera's operation with birds. Like to see you do a series of a bird coming straight at you again.

Ofcourse it’s better than the tamron’s 70-180, the tamrons version 1 70-180 had a lot of dust getting in the lens issues, I don’t know if this has been fixed on the V2
