Lucky me bought a bright red BMC Teammachine SLR01 Three in November, had to go through the product recall for the fork which was unfortunate, but... what a bike! It rides like nothing else, perfect integration, no cables, great looks, more speed. I can't get enough, so I am riding for the first time in my life even if it has almost freezing temperatures in the Black Forest. Go get it!

How nice. I realized that the Race Master is more comfortable than Race Machine. I bought the RM frame and transferred the Race Master kit to the new frame. But I didn't sell the Race Master frame. And I will not sell. It is a very beautiful frame !

I heard in local carbon repair-shops that BMC bikes are fast but fragile. Also i'm using Cadel Evanses Teammachine SLR01 2011. And the frame had problems with the carbon fiber groove in the dropouts, because there is just pure carbon without metal spacers.
@joggyb4 жыл бұрын
The 01 level frames tend to fail, so the SLR01 or teammachine 01 and so on. The 02 are heavier but more likely to live longer.

I bought a BMC Roadmachine and I my first maintenance checks I found that there was a manufacturing defect on the underside of one of the chainstays. had I known this when I purchased it I would have not accepted it and asked for a different one. BMC have said that because the defect is not readily visible it is acceptable and that I have to accept it. I think that this says something about their quality control if they find this acceptable. I am continuing to challenge them on this as I find it totally unacceptable. Fortunately we have laws in our country which protect against this sort of thing so I will be persuing this path. Based on my experience I could not recommend BMC to anyone.

I like the way these BMC road bikes look and they are certainly good products - but their price keeps me from considering them. Take the Roadmachine for example. The 105 model is 3.000€, whereas e.g. the Trek Émonda SL6 Disc (with Ultegra) is 2.750€ and Canyon offer their Endurace with Ultegra Di2 for 3.200€. I fail to understand what justifies this surcharge - them being Swiss, I guess - which is unimportant to me.
@BenjaminCaris4 жыл бұрын
I guess it depends on how much you care to have a BMC instead of a different brand. I really wanted to buy a BMC so I did, even though I could get a bike with better components for less money. It may not be the most rational purchase in terms of value for money, but I could not be happier with my new BMC.
@simon.voggeneder4 жыл бұрын
@@BenjaminCaris Whatever you can afford and makes you happy is a positive thing. I am glad to hear you love your bike, it's what's most important. I was not in any way ranting against BMC as a brand, just explaining why I have a hard time considering their products. Brand loyalty is a strange thing, I must say. My first new road bike was a Trek and I find that I now prefer their bikes, even if there is no rational reason to do so.
@BenjaminCaris4 жыл бұрын
@@simon.voggeneder I agree, the most important thing is that you have a bike that makes you happy and makes you want to ride!
@ianiscaratti49244 жыл бұрын
Simon Voggeneder That's not a very fair compareson... The Trek Emonda SL6 DISC with Ultegra cost 3'449 but it doesn't realy matter because it's an old frame design that can't even fit modern cranks. Not even with adapters and btw. It's a climbing bike. The BMC Roadmachine 02 Three with 105 is a modern endurance bike that costs 3'199. You can compare this to the new Domane SL5 with 105 from Trek. They sell it for 2'999. So BMC is only 200 more expensive than Trek and Canyon is obviously less expensive because they sell directly. Greethings from Switzerland
@simon.voggeneder4 жыл бұрын
@@ianiscaratti4924 I simply compared the prices I would pay in Austria in Euro for the bikes I mentioned. I agree that the more apt comparison would have been to the 2020 Domane, which costs 2.700€ in Austria in the 105 trim. It's only 300€ of difference there, but I still find it to be too much, since I also think that the Domane is a very pricy bike, but I can understand it somehow, with the technology they put into it. It's hard to justify paying close to 3.000€ for a bike with a mid-level groupset. As for the Émonda being a dated frame, I am looking forward to a new Émonda frame design for the 2021 model year this spring. Trek does not sell directly, I would like to correct - you can only buy a Trek through a dealership.
