What are your strategies when negotiating player contracts? Let us know in the comments

Great video, love you took time to do & display the maths. So much easier to understand when you can see it on screen too and who doesn't love a bit of maths in their YT vids 😂

Craig - you would not believe how many times I had to do those sums before I was confident they were all correct!

I’m not sure your math is correct. In his original contract he had a bonus for winning both cups all 3 seasons, your revised working at the end compares him winning just 1 cup with the new contract, but you didn’t reduce the original contract to only paying out 1 cup win per year. Still like the strategy though

@@alunbrooks4533 So, if you watch the part of the video just before the section you are referring to you'll see I show how much the contract would cost if we won the league AND both cups each season (£750,000 x 3 years = £2,250,000). The part I think you are referring to is just afterwards, where I state in the video that winning the league AND both cups every year, for 3 years probably isn't realistic, so I showed how much the contract would cost IF we only won one of the three competitions we were in (£250,000 x 3 years). I've finished the save with Nagoya now and we didn't win any competitions in Sunjic's first season (so no competition bonuses) and won just one competition in season two (so he earned a £250,000 bonus) and we then sold him as he entered the final year of his contract. So we signed a player we wanted, who helped us to win the league, and the competition bonuses came to just £250,000. A bargain!

I was referring to the £639,000 in his initial contract for winning both the cups each year. You calculated those 6 total cup wins (totalling £639,000) in his total value of the original contract. When you calculated the new contract and estimated him only winning 1 comp per season at the end, you were still comparing the finances of the full original contract with the reduced possibility of winning just 1 comp per season in the new contract situation. I’m basically saying the original contract should have been worth about £106,500 (the average bonus for winning just 1 cup per season on the original contract). To be honest it’s all semantics, just noticed that as I was watching. As you rightly pointed out it’s a big money save overall and as it turned out even better for you. I really appreciate the tips and content.

Nice video, and it does work; my only issue with it is that is a bit unrealistic. A player and his agent IRL wouldn't really go from the initial structure demand to something that clearly is designed for him to fail to achieve. All that said, the players demand insane contracts for the player but take garbage contracts from the AI club so I support this tip! 😁
@TheManagersSeatАй бұрын
Ordinarily I'd agree about the realism, but I think it might become more common in the future irl now that clubs such as Chelsea are using this approach combined with long contracts. Apparently, their basic wages are low compared to comparable clubs
@pbsmoothie7281Ай бұрын
@@TheManagersSeat Yeah you're right about that. From the research I've done they are paying low wages with performance related wage increases. it's a good strategy since they earn their higher wage and their resale value will go up if they are playing well as well.
@TheManagersSeatАй бұрын
@@pbsmoothie7281 You've got to imagine more clubs will use a similar model if it is seen to be working at Chelsea. Cole Palmer, for example is reported to earn £120,000 per week at Chelsea, where as Gabriel Martinelli is reported to earn £180,000 per week at Arsenal. Arguably, Palmer is the better player but Martinelli earns 50% more

I usually just walk away if the wages are that high, next time I'll give this a whirl.... I'm guessing that they might be easier to sell down the line without the bloated wages too.
@TheManagersSeatАй бұрын
That is something we'd not even considered. I think that should absolutely be the case

I’d be locking in the signing on fee for much less and the agent fee also which would be saving even more.
@TheManagersSeatАй бұрын
Have you had any success getting players to agree to those contracts when reducing the signing on fee?
