Mate, I've been playing FM since way back in the CM days, so a long, long bloody time. Never, ever have I utilised that development list. The endless amounts of time I'd spend checking their report when an offer comes in, manually looking at the club, what div are they in, how are their training facilities, etc. I am 100% doing this tonight when my kids are in bed and FM goes straight on! Thanks for the amazing tips, super useful.

Need to be careful letting staff take care of loans. Sometimes they'll tack on an obligation to buy at the end of the loan that you never asked for.

How does taking control of initiating and finalizing transfers but delegating negotiations to DOF play out in game? Does he actually take over negotiations after hitting the initial submit offer? Is there anyway to delegate contract negotiation while still setting the playing time you want the player contract to have?

He does indeed. Will do the whole process, and generally to a good standard. But, the contract requirements are very much out of your control. Such as playing time

Im fairly new to FM, so there is a good chance Im wrong, but concerning the last tip, shouldnt it be the technical director who renews the staff contracts?

I had a Chelsea save where I totally didnt have any control over non player related concerns. I've only given myself the authority to choose the first team coaches. Director of Football - Handled player scouting, transfers and contracts Technical Director - Handled signing and firing of all staff except first team coaches. Unfortunately I think the game still holds reputation to a high degree as my Technical Director once hired a scount with 10 JPA and 12 JCA 😂 Also.. my team became riddled with players who were expecting first team football.

Yeah the under the hood detail from SI could be better, at least with this model you can always retain some element of control

The only issue I have with giving the DOF/GM transfer authority is, there's no way to set hard limits. For example, I don't sign anyone over 23 years old but when I give the DOF transfers, they go out and try to sign 28 year olds and a few 32 year olds. Heck, even when I set scouting assignments, sometimes a scout will recommend some oldie. My 'Not Interested' list fills to bursting over a couple seasons.

Yeah that’s a tough one, they are ‘coded’ to aim for certain players under the hood. Even to spend all the budget on one player or be frugal. All visible in the editor. I wonder if a skin with that information would be useful

Check in staff that is has a 0/1 in place,if not you need to request from board. Then go to staff search and find yours

I've tried assigning targets to my DoF, including players that are out of contract and can be approached now, but it's been beyond frustrating to have those targets sit and eventually get signed out from under me while he goes and chases other targets. Is there any way to get movement on players that I identified as transfer targets?

I usually get them to focus on that one individual, certainly one at a time. I’ve not experience the exact problem so not sure on the exact solution. Sounds tricky. I’ll do some digging though

Make sure your DOF has a good personality if you going to have him provide youth development information as that effects the personalities of newgens. Going to start using my DOF much more now 👌

Very true. Personality, even nationality can determine lots of factors of newgens - probably another video in there 👀
