That's because the DeEsser won't work as accurate as it does this way on so many voices. A DeEsser works kinda like a multiband compressor, more db means more DeEssing and in this case, the voice wouldn't sound this nice if he throws just one DeEsser on the Chorus bus ^^

if you have the exact same wave-form it would just be louder but sound like one...you need differences in the waveform

While I hate Pop and this is no exception, this does have use in music that I do love. A lot of power metal bands use this effect on tracks to make an epic sounding chorus line. While power metal has faded in popularity in the United states (Where I'm from), It is immensely popular in Japan. So how can you keep the lows in the track and still make it sound good? When they get lowered, it makes that fake pop sound that I can't stand. So... Problem.

No, that's impossible, as this is a harmony, each pitch recorded 2 times (each different waveform which does the "thickening") and panned to stereo. As I make it out, the "trick" is to eq the channel pairs differently and overexaggerate the delay/reverb effect a bit. Not a big deal though, routine procedure.

Have to be sung and recorded as many times as channels you want. There is a trick though copying 1 recorded vocal to several channels and do a pich shifting process (different for each channel!) by an unheard amount of pitch shift: eg. 8-10 cents. This way it will be better than one record, but not as good as real different records. Hope I could help.
