what if you have addition and multpication in your problem? what method do you use the least prcise mesurement or least sig figs?

Hi Machete, According to many sources, "if the last significant figure is an even nujmber and the next digit is a 5, with no other nonzero digits" then you are supposed to round down (truncate the 5). However in your example 25.55 + 4.7, the answer is rounded up. Is there something wrong here? Thanks!

What about when you are supposed to show more significant figures that what the actual answer is? For example: 2500/5.0000 The answer is 500, but how do I show that as 2 significant figures?

U said that 20 has 2 sig figs....but we do not count zeros after d digit 2, we count them if the zeros are after decimal So, 20 has 1 sig fig not 2.
