I've experienced ALL of the signs that you have talked about!!! I'm 24 and I'm called to some form of consecrated life, also called to be a doctor but the Lord is testing me with failure upon failure. I also feel a call to become a traditionalist Catholic within the Roman Catholic Church because the Vatican 2 has messed up our beloved Church. Please pray for me and the Church so that Her Sacred Traditions may return. We must stay, pray and fight(the evils).

The Holy Spirit guides and protects the Church. Vatican 2 didn't mess up the church. Bashing an ecumenical council is anything but traditional. The problems in the church are as a result of 3 things: 1. Liberal catholics 2. Radical "traditional" catholics who flirt with schism 3. Lack of disciplining the dissenters

I just became a Benedictine Oblate. For Saint Johns Abbey in Collegeville, Minnesota. I had tried several Third Order’s. But through the example of Consecrated Virgin’s and Their Life of Prayer. I felt a call to a More Monastic way of Life. So I made My Final Oblation on Wednsdaybof Holy Week. God be with You. Your Example led Me to a much more Monastic Vocation.

The call to religious life can be so simple for some and complex for others because we can be complicated ourselves. Ignorance, prejudice, disordered life, bad raising and a storm of external wrong influences are common in many cases to procastinate our decision or even deny it. Many are called but never notice it! Now I recongnize I had a very clear call to priesthood when I was in my college years (23 years old). I got married a year later and have three grown up children. And yet, when God calls you his call is forever and he's waiting for your answer. Now I'm 64! Not having another option at my age, I have consecrated my life to Jesus and Mary, it is now something between Him and myself exclusively. Finally, I feel peace.

Two years ago I asked my pastor if he could help me make a vow of virginity and he said no. In my mind and heart, it's clear that I was made just for Jesus and am to give my whole self to Him. At age eleven, I made the promise to be a virgin. Every thing you say rings true to me. (I've tried many convents but I don't think that is my calling). Please, say a little prayer for me.

Wow! You hit this spot on! I feel 8 out of 10 of those reasons!! I have been binge watching nun and monk videos and listening to spiritual literature ( literally til like 3am after I get off work/settle in at 9pm..now its become so strong I actually stayed up til 6am!!! Watching videos of others in this renounced lifestyles) , I feel such a strong call to bypass the material mundane marraige for the ETERNAL marraige, I love many and dont want to confine to one, I just want to help deliver souls and not be entangled in sexual delusion! My father and his twin brother and thier sons are preachers... Ive come to my realization now that not only do I want to preach..but I want to live a celibate life!!

Thank you so much for this video. I'm going through a tough moment and I'm really confused about everything. A couple of years ago I felt that God was calling me to something more. I was afraid of dating and marriage, so I just refused this kind of things. But then I met this guy, that I have really wanted to know for a long time. Once he showed up and just talked to me. We talked about God, vocation and my life. So I took it as a sign. And the more we got to know each other the more I was convinced that he could be the right person for me. But then my vocational formers told me that if I wanted to stay with him I was free to follow my desire and quit my vocational path. But these threw me into confusion. I was so sad to quit it that I can't stop thinking about that moment. I felt like the sad rich in the Gospel. And now I feel empty when I think about this relationship. I'm in love with this guy, but I feel like this is not enough. And now I'm afraid to choose wrong and most of all to hurt him. Caterina Marcelli It was not easy to discern a vocation to the religious life while in a relationship. You can pray the rosary daily, and ask for the gift of being devoted to her, then just be patient and through your daily conversion, you follow the will of the Lord. Finding peace in your current circumstance is necessary to come to your current vocation.

I read you story. I am thinking of St Therese of Child Jesus , the little flower. Her parents wanted a religious life without marriage. But that was not Gods plan. His plan was for them to be parents and to parent this dear saint. Now they are saints themselves. Had they followed their own way we would all be a little poorer without these saints. Definitely marriage won't be enough. I've stayed at mom's to help her over the years, but I am a late vocation. Brother just passed of covid, mom is gettting older by the day Found 4 orders for women with late vocations that I can apply to. 3 are very conservative-- my style i. Christ. I want to get to know them now and visit regularly. After mom passes in a year or 5 years, whenever, I'll be connected and ready. I've never married( though educated, attractive and, enjoy family) because I guess I was to live a different life. Holy holy holy is the Lord.

Hi John, good question to ask. Yeah, there are some vocations of which men too can live in the world, consecrated to Christ, but not as a Religious Brother or Priest but they aren't as common as are women's. I believe there are men in Secular Institutes, Consecrated Men of Regnum Christi too (who live in the world), - however, there are no men Consecrated Virgins as are women in the vocation of Consecrated Virginity. The Holy Spirit could open a new avenue of consecrated life if He were calling men to a similar form of live in the world. I'm just now aware of any yet. Come Holy Spirit!

Well, first of all, think about why you think God would want you to be a nun. When someone hears that "calling," usually their purpose to become an instrument of God. To commit to serving the community and helping others in his name. It's not really so much about what you're giving up (i.e. freedom) and how simple your life would be, but it's about making the commitment to serve God for the rest of your life. If thinking about becoming a nun reminds you of the feeling of death, then it's definitely not for you. I hope this helps.

I am solitary person, I love God, I respect life and anything that is tradition and mystical things. I bet I will like or love the religious life no second thoughts. But I want a career and I want to accomplish it. I want to learn science and medicine. I want to keep exploration a lot of things. So, I don’t know what vocation is for me. There are times I feel sort of lonely but I get up sooner and go back to my usual self.

@@flaviusmacrobius1110 There's nothing wrong with wanting to learn science and medicine, with wanting to have a career. But I agree with the rest of your point. I would just phrase it this way: Seek the Kingdom of God first. The things of this world are fleeting. Bishop Barrom said in one of his commencement speeches that enjoying worldly things in moderation is perfectly fine. But that is the key here: in moderation. Meaning, don't make worldly things the center of your life. He even quoted St. Augustine: "Love and then do whatever you like, as long as it's within reason and it's not morally wrong." In other words, love and off you go! Go ahead and persue a career in business, medicine, law, politics, entertainment, as long as you do it in service of God and others. Not everyone is called to live the religious life.

I agree with you ,getting a community never such easy,example have met 3ladies they went through challenges schooling, they failed exams since after registration of final exam they went to sit for exam without attending classes due to school fees lack. All became breadwinner of their families educating siblings, all are now at early 30s,They focus on services lord. Each cogregation they knock ,rejection due to poor grades and age disqualify. I once asked their final stand, all told me if they don't get cogregation to accept them they shall live single life secretly ,community might not understand them but lord knows they qualify. Wish I knew community which don't mind age and poor grades to admit such ladies it's 10yrs since I know them.

Not to be rude, but to be personally honest; Consecrated life led me faster to atheism, because I realized very clearly that I was dedicating my whole self to absolutely nothing. If I was just an average Joe (or maybe more if I was a 'devout Joe') parishioner, I would have fumbled my way through life as a Catholic thinking there must be something more to it that I was missing out on as a layman. Nope, there isn't. In fact, there is just nothing. I found that the faith was all in my head, and the emptiness of it became really apparent by giving up everything for it. I'm a better person now living honestly than I was before lying to myself about what I believed.

Its not “religious life” that can make someone an atheist. As you’ve mentioned, feeding thoughts of doubt does. It is one of the most dangerous animals you can feed within yourself as it can destroy all hope and faith within you by bombarding with human logic. Which happens to not know it all. I know because I get often tempted. Im not a theologian or anything close to that, but I know that faith is not a matter only for the brain to understand. If we do so, we’re condemning ourselves to failure from the very moment we do it. I don’t intend to minimize what you’ve been through though, just trying to bring up another viewpoint. The Lord gives many consolations where he allows us to experience his grace as a burning flame in our soul that is greater than any worldly pleasure. It is incomprehensible. It is a gift and not earned. However, he also allows Himself not be felt or His graces to be experienced. He wants us to believe purely out of love for Him. I pray that you be converted and enter into the divine life with the incarnate word.
