Thank you for continually emphasizing that the goal is not perfection, but learning and improving with time. I've been struggling a lot with doubt and frustration since my stitches don't look the way they're "supposed to" according to the tutorials I've been following, and I unravel my work the second I make a mistake. I'm trying to let go of that and resist the impulse even though it's hard. Failure is proof that you're learning a new skill, and you can't improve without moving past mistakes.

I started learning Crochet about a week ago. There were no problem with foundation chains. But single crochet was such a pain for me because one stich was always missing and I couldn't find out what I did wrong. I searched for a lot of tutorial videos but no luck. But yes, this video just helped me a lot and I'm now able to find out the problem especially because of the thing you said at 7:20. So thank you so so much. 😭🫶🏻

I’ve just started to learn with you and after a few days of getting extremely frustrated trying to hold my yarn, I have now finally found my way so am starting over! I struggle a bit with my coordination so I’m super happy I’ve finally found a way to hold it so I can continue!! And I’m also using a larger hook than I should just for the minute so I can see some progress and today it’s really helped 😅. Onwards and forwards, practice, practice and more practice 😊

I finally managed it! I'm a very timid crochelette who spent several days in the safe little bubble of my ever-increasing chain lengths, and any attempts at my first actual crochet stitch were quickly abandoned before I even got my foundation chain finished. I was frustrated and clumsy the whole way through, but once I began to find my rhythm, the process of going row by row started to feel soothing and... dare I say fun? I'm still nowhere near the level of being able to do it mindlessly or with any grace (still struggling to work through those two loops even now!), but I want to keep tinkering until I'm confident before moving on. I've made my peace with going a little slower than the 14 days recommended, but any progress is good progress! Thank you for being so thorough and explaining everything with patience and compassion. I really enjoy your teaching style and I'll be recommending this series as a great way to get started.

I have been crocheting for about 52 years, but I think that you can always learn something new. As such, I signed up and have been viewing your videos. And with this video, it hit me that I am always starting my first row on the starting chain by picking up TWO loops of the chain, not just ONE, as you do! Boiyoiyoing! That makes sense to me now. I always was thinking your starting row would be more sturdy with two, but it can also affect the finished project, like a blanket, when you do your border! Thanks for turning on my light bulb!!
@SigoniMacaroni3 жыл бұрын
Actually there are 3 different ways you can work into the chain and it all depends on personal preference, so you weren’t doing it wrong 😊 I talk all about the differences here if you want to watch! kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2GXl6eXm7-gpZY

Any tips on how to make sure you you are putting your hook into the correct stitch , it appears I am having trouble missing stitches, perhaps I have too much tension on the chain? I got past foundation chain, it’s not that very pretty or uniform but I did it. Sometimes taking a step away for awhile then when you feel inspired come back and try it again. Take step away for a year or whatever you deem long enough then come back and try again. Maybe it will work for you. This is from someone who’s awful at knots and weaving or knitting.

There isn’t really a right side or a wrong side because it looks the same on both sides. The only time that really matters is if the sides look different or if you have to end on a certain row depending on the pattern you’re working on.

Sigoni, my swatch is not flat. It's completely curled. I don't think I crocheted it too tight, but did I? Is that why it isn't flat like yours?
@SigoniMacaroni3 жыл бұрын
It could be a couple things. If it’s really curled at the ends then it sounds like you may have been crocheting too tight. You can try going up a hook size to see if that helps. But I will say that the single crochet is a tight stitch so it’s normal for it to curl a little bit. The only reason why my swatch isn’t curling is because it’s a really great yarn 😆 But really, if you don’t feel like you crocheted tight then it might just be the natural curl that happens with the single crochet stitch
@nancycv113 жыл бұрын
