She's the BEST artist too. And through this exhange has become one of my really good friends. She can get any service I do any time she wants and I get more added to my tattoo regularly ❤ she's amazing and the only person I have an on going deal with. The whole point of money is to facilitate exchange between people who might not otherwise make what each other want. This is why we generally pay with money. On a happy note, this story reminds me of my aunt who traded her printing services for ground school and flight instruction back in the 70s.

I work at an ice cream shop in an area with a lot of restaurant/bars. Sometimes we get calls from local food places wanting to trade. We give them some ice cream and they give us food. We like it. Our main trader is the nearby coffee shop. They don't charge us for drinks if their boss isn't there and we don't charge them whenever they feel like ice cream
@morrigan9083 ай бұрын
That's not bartering, it's theft. It's only bartering if the person who owns the coffee and pays your wages (your boss or someone higher) is consenting to trade with whoever owns the ice cream (their boss/owner). Since you only don't charge them if your boss isn't there, you obviously don't have the boss's consent to trade off something he owns. You're stealing the coffee and trading it for ice cream, and presumably the other free food that you get. It's a bit harder to get a read on the other businesses, but I'm assuming their owners probably haven't consented either. Either way, it isn't bartering if you don't own the service or good that's being traded. It's just theft. Edit: Sorry, re-read that and realized I got the companies backwards. The coffee place is stealing the coffee. Harder to get a read on you guys, because I don't know if an owner is consenting. Since you say "I work at," not "I own," I feel like I'm pretty safe assuming you are not the owner or franchisee.

Was just going to say that. If you make them mad by not accepting their five year old's latest finger-paint art or whatever, they can and will go running to the IRS. Regardless of the size of the trade, it has to be reported as income, or the IRS will barter with you for a proctology exam.

I watched this while prepping 15 bananas for baked goods. From scratch. Everything these bananas will go into, all together, ingredients and work both, isn't worth $250. Why do some people think a boxed cake mix is equivalent to an entire extensive hair appointment? That said, Siiri, I'll happily make you some savoury goodies if you ever want them. 👍 Heck, I'll give you the RECIPE if you prefer.
