But it's hard to believe he didn't touch any PEDs until then, cause he was freakishly monstrous in his 20's, then he got even more freakishly monstrous-er. I think youre right that a good percentage of them are at least taking something, but I'm not sure this is the best argument for that. I think their size is quite deceiving, most of them are around the 60-65kg (140lbs) mark, which isnt crazy big by any stretch. I think their low body fat a nd defined abs make them look bigger than they actually are. Put a rugby jersey on them and I bet they would look far less impressive. You also need to take into account selection bias - ie the body type the sport selects for. What makes a rugby player good? and what do they actually have to do in their sport? Some positions need to be big and strong, but they don't need to be as lean ( and so they don't look as impressive) other positions are selected based on their speed, skill and tactically awareness (and a little size). Cross fitters are selected for their ability to move weight (large strong muscles), move their own body weight (need to be lean) + their cardio fitness + they are moving high volumes close to failure which is a perfect recipe for growing muscle (almost all other weight lifting sports either use lower volumes or intentionally try to operate away from failure, they also sue far less total upper body muscle which significantly impacts the look of being 'bulky") Also remember that these are the elite of the elite. There will be genetic outliers out there who can achieve things that don't seem possible naturally, but there will also be others who need to take stuff if they want to keep up.

Recently, in the world of powerlifting, the IPF and the USAPL split up. The primary issue for the IPF kicking the USAPL out of their organization was that the USAPL was doing non-WADA approved tests. The USAPL state that they were simply doing cheaper tests at the local level and then doing WADA testing at the national/international level. It’s disheartening but it’s not like we can’t fix it. Make the sanctions so severe that it’s not worth the risk. If an athlete tests positive, they are out of the sport for good, erase their names in such a complete way that it would be hard to confirm that they ever competed at all. Extend the sanctions to the athletes coach, and actually stick to it. Brutal, yes… but the consequences have to be elevated far beyond the reward of risking it. Of course there will always be excuses, but if the athlete isn’t able to defend their position or prove the excuse, it is what it is. And yes I compete, I get tested and I understand the gravity of the situation.

In reality I think CrossFit is a sport very similar in category as Strongman albeit more popular, however, as long as the company itself wants to maintain the healthy lifestyle marketing then this is how it will be.

Crossfit isn't a sport it's just randomized exercising. It always be something that people do because they weren't good enough to play a real sport.
@amen_ra69262 жыл бұрын
@@za.307 Some played low rung D1 or lower or even semi pro but just couldn't make it to the next level. But they played a "real" sport of some type in their career. As a sport, it's dubbed "the sport of fitness". But it's just people working out head-to-head to see who can finish first. But you can almost make anything a sport. It's a paradigm change. Some refuse to accept golf or bowling as a sport because there is no contact.

I appreciate your candid discussion with regard to this subject. If you’re smart you know pretty much most people would be using. As a lifelong natural athlete I know what it’s like to hit genetic potential for muscle gain without destroying my digestive system or body with over eating and lifting too heavy. That being said there are genetic outliers but after years in the bodybuilding world I can definitely say many people will do what they can to get to the top of their field. As you said it’s also illegal to possess and take most PEDs in the US so you won’t see people often admitting to this especially when it will destroy their careers. Thanks for the great content! Keep it up!

Crossfit is great at organizing entertaining events and stuff, but come on with the ridiculous ideas of them being clean. It's arguably the sport with the most comically huge athletes.

The most comical point in the beginning was when crossfit athletes were trying to convince the public that steroids wouldn’t really help in their sport because it’s not a “strength” sport haha, as if steroids wouldn’t help recovery in a sport that’s notorious for huge training volume

CF has two options. Either not test and leave the speculation out there or use WADA and/or USADA instead of their own “private” org so we can all see every athletes test results. Then ban those that test POS forever. Until CF does something about all this, it will never reach the top tier level of other pro sports. It’s the fitness “WWE” as of now.
@alemail2 жыл бұрын
WADA cannot test crossfit because crossfit technically is not an sport, it's a brand. You can play football and called it football but you cannot do it with crossfit (and also technically almost any activity can be called crossfit by their own definition)
@itstoodamneasy39762 жыл бұрын
@@alemail actually, it does not have to a recognized sport. WADA has agreements with USA and the USADA that allow testing under the country’s National Anti-Doping Organization to find illegal drug use.It’s a matter of actually doing it that CF won’t bc then top tier/poster names would likely be exposed.

Crossfit is in no way unique, any sport where PEDs have a significant effect and there is money or even only prestige involved is saturated, it's the difference between having a contract or not, its the difference between making money or not between success and failure. The testing procedure is a joke. Rugby for instance it is the norm, not the exception.
