lots of questions! we mow about 60 acres to fill this clamp. as its been a bad spring we wont fill it this year.we use a local firm for contracting. dry silage causes problems with fermentation and palatibity for the cows

Hi Shri. If you watch my sialge making videos 1 -5 that should give you all the imfo you need. In brief the grass is mown and allowed to wilt for 24 hours before it is collected from the field. When it is being harvested it is cut into short length before being put into the clamp where it is rolled. After all the grass has been collected the clamp is sealed with plastic sheeting. It is very important that no air is allowed into the clamp as this will cause the grass to rot.
