Coleman manufactured home DGAX056BDTA furnace comes with a Constant torque ECM motor. If the 24-volt motor taps are set to the high setting, there will be a lot of blower noise. So to achieve noise reduction, you must lower the blower speed.

THANK YOU!! This was the only video/information I could find on a mobile home furnace. Changed from high to medium speed. Much better, around as loud as my old furnace (which is still fairly loud, mind you).

Would a Miller unit have the same constant torque motor with 24v? Do they make replacement fans with a less aggressive blade angle to be quieter like you can get bathroom vents that are nearly silent. Or how about something like the dial for a dimmable light fixture to manually control the speed?

Unless you want to replace your existing furnace, I don’t believe they have an aftermarket motor for Manufactured housing.All new equipment have the x-13 motors on them.

@@ADVANHVAC I believe this unit is the original from 2005 build. Is the X13 newer?

I’m pretty certain that would be a PSC motor not an x-13 I’m thinking X-13’s didn’t start popping out until about 2013 or so.

About the humming noise on the unit when it wasn't running. Does this indicate a problem? My unit seems to be the same and produces an electric hum a lot of the time even when the unit is not running.

No not a problem, what you are hearing is the 24v transformer.

Is that amount of noise that the draft inducer motor suppose to make when it first kicks on?

Yes, Trailer furnaces are Noisy.

Thanks for the vid, but I have to go with the other peeps commenting here ... no diff at all really. Just installed a new furnace today and sounds just like this. Like a jet engine running even on lowest fan. unreal. Can't believe I pain the money I did for brand new one much louder than my old one. Unreal

With the Manufacturing housing furnaces and the new Constant torque motors, they are definitely going to be louder due to the static pressures. There really isn't going to be a way out of that, unfortunately. I wish they would have left the motors be.

Hey Thanks for hittin me back so soon. Let me ask you a question, Can I put some sound deadening on the actual fan motor casing? Like , kind of use some sticky backed sound deadening wall foam to wrap the outer shell of the fan cage. Or does it get to hot for something like that? That is a great little light btw @@ADVANHVAC

Your welcome, That wouldn't really work. It's the airflow and with the small ductwork it will be loud no matter what you try.

Thank you so much for your reply. I am looking at sound absorbing materials that are heat resistant and may try wrapping the fan and placing some in places away from the hot pipe on the right side . If it gives any significant reduction I'll let you know. And thanks again.@@ADVANHVAC

Thanks for the video, I'm going to try and replicate what you did. However, more talking and step by step instructions of what you are doing would greatly improve the video. For instance, why did you disconnect the two white wires at timestamp 3:40?? What did that do? You gave no explanation. Some of us are dumb lol

Just had a new one installed today and when the fan kicked in I started waving two fingers in the air like an aircraft carrier flight deck launch officer, and then I reached over and touched the floor to launch it. Unreal loud even on the lowest fan setting. Guy says that how they are. I'm like whaaa?

These brushless motors today should be all banned. They are horrible. Older brush motors were silent...
