Silent Hiking in the Jagungal Wilderness

North of the Main Range of Kosciuszko National Park lies the Jagungal Wilderness. At the right times of year, this can be a stunning playground. The wrong times, whether that be during summer or winter it can be harsh and inhospitable. For this hike the timing was perfect, a mild weather window, epic sunrises and silence. 3 Days hiking in silence, making peace with my own thoughts and recharging the batteries in the way only time in nature can. I hope you enjoy the video.

Oh man, beautifully shot. So well done. Fabulous open country and big skies. Funny though, the whole ‘silent’ thing took a bit of getting used to. So used to you telling us what’s going on, especially when you’re bush bashing or maybe changing plans. Felt a bit like we’d had an argument on the walk and you’d stop talking to me 😂.

I admire the commitment to filming that first river crossing from both banks. Must have had cold legs by the time that was all done!

Lol thanks mate that actually means a lot. I actually went about a third in and came back from both banks. The middle section of the river was a bit deeper than what was on video, and with how fast it was flowing, I wasn't keen on doing that part twice. Oddly enough, the second crossing felt colder and was actually painful to go back and get the camera.

It's a beautiful part of the world, but if you don't get there before the heat kicks in the March flies are brutal

Thanks 😊 I've taken the Nemo mat on quite a few trips now, and it is holding up well. It does feel very delicate though and so I treat it accordingly.
