I chose Quality because of how much better it looks, and, considering the slow pace of this game, I don't think it's that big of a big deal. Normally I choose performance, regardless of how bad the graphical downgrade is, but I typically do that for faster paced games where timing is important.

The problem is new technology is always in beta mode. Developers are always pushing things too hard for the consoles that are available, even some PCs that are available. If we could just accept the limitations of our current mediums, and develop things within those parameters, we could always have smooth enjoyable experiences. Next generation UE5 will run great. But you know what will happen? They'll be introducing UE6, and the whole shit show will start over again .

@danielweiss4498 It does have long stretches where it is 60fps. But it has areas it will dip quite low below the 48fps VRR range. But it is in the high 50's to to 60fps in a lot of areas. Just specific spots it will dip.

This isn't about Silent Hill 2 remake, which is great. But I have a question about picture settings. I have a 65in Sony x90l and currently playing on PS5. When playing Dead Space and it's gorgeous but in certain areas where there is a lot of smoke my picture seems to ghost or bleed black . Sometimes different colors from black green and yellow. It's very distracting and it's hard not to see it. Do you have any suggestions. That would help. Thanks!

I have a LG C3 and with VRR it still dips to 50ish on performance mode and in Quality dip’s to 25ish . So sad can’t enjoy stable fps the game is awesome. Hope they patch it soon .

The biggest visual difference between the modes is a lower setting of lumen GI which drastically reduces light bounce and in result more dark, not indirectly lit areas. Too bad the quality mode is not even rock solid 30. I hope they can bring this up a notch on the pro.

@@JvanEdits it’s definitely gonna be 60fps quality mode on PS5 Pro as it’s Gpu is substantially more performant than 3080 ti as it’s essentially a fully custom 7800XT Rdna 3/4 hybrid which includes advanced Next Gen Rdna 4 Ray tracing performance. That type of Gpu inside a console with console level development is gonna be capable of Rtx 4080 level performance !

Wasn't noticeable playing 30fps on the X360on my old 42" Panasonic plasma. Which was considered a reasonably decent tv at the time. It's almost a downside to having an OLED now because you really just can't play on 30fps. Well I can't on the PS5. As good as the detail is, you miss half of it with how choppy it can get.

Genuinely barely can tell the difference in lighting in your comparison. Playing the game on PS5 I could find subtle differences in some select locations, but otherwise the only difference are the fuzzy reflections. Here is hoping for PS5 Pro patch to fix the fuzziness

@battalaptal03 Probably. It is built around RT features in mind. Even the Performance mode still has RT lumen in puddles and light bounce. It's just cutback on the light bounce a bit in Performance mode. So it's definitely a game which would benefit from getting a Pro patch.

With a VRR screen, I would still pick the Performance mode even if it falls below the 48 fps minimum of the range because I just can't play at 30 fps, its so bad. I have preordered the PS5 Pro so hopefully, its going to run at a locked 60 on that one.

For 30fps games like this don't use the gaming mode on your LG Oled. Use the cinema mode (user calibrated) for HDR, 30fps games and set the smoothing to 10 and the dejudder to 10 in the 'TrueMotion' settings of your LG Oled. Now you'll have the look of a 120fps game on a 30fps game. You'll experience a little bit of input lag but it doesn't matter in single player games like Silent Hill 2 Remake.

I play this game on PC with a Ryzen 5959x and a RTX 4090 in 4K maxed out reaching a 60 to 80 Fps average with stutters from time to time. I don't know there is something about the graphics, about the look of the game that i don't like. The raytraycing, the lighting the reflections are really good but the graphics, the graphic style just don' blow me away! Specially if you consider how demanding this game is! It is almost as if the last 10-20% of quality are missing... I wish they would have used the RE enginge with this game. I remember the RE4 remake running buttersmooth and looking extremely good even without raytraycing! The graphics in this game are somehow not that much enjoyable....

@@Dezzyyx It can switch individual pixels almost instantaneously! Which is actually a good thing for picture clarity (no ghosting!)BUT with low fps content it looks extra choppy! Lcd's response time is much slower which masks low fps and frame transition feels much smoother! The downside of Lcd however is the milky blacks/low contrast, the exact opposite of Oled! Once you go OLED or QD Oled you never want to go back to Lcd just because of the much superior picture quality! (Excuse my flawed English not native)

Game is an fps nightmare even on pc with 7800x3d and 7900xtx no RT at 3440x1440. Fps is 90 and above but still has drops and stutter under 60fps. but is still better playable than on Ps5 Pro.

This is why I don't want to hear anyone bashing the PS5 pro. Because unfortunately it is needed. And it's just going to get worse is this generation goes on. In 30 fps is fine and some games depending on what type games they are. These slow horror games, games like that, 60 is really not a must-have in those situations. And some 30 FPS games run smooth enough. It's the ones that are so juttery that it is almost impossible to play it's the 30 FPS games that are garbage.

The issue with the Pro is that by the point you have to buy a new console every couple of years just to run games normally, you should just buy a damn PC seriously, the pro completely nullifies the advantage of having a console lol you still need to dump $600 every few years on it, so what's the point? If anything a $600 graphics card is gonna hold up better than a console, but since you're buying two of them, just get a 4070 for 600-700 dollars which runs this at 70 FPS in 4k let alone 1440p like the PS5. It's insane how underpowered consoles are for you guys to still be paying as much as you do, the base PS5 is about as powerful as maybe a 300 dollar RTX 4060 and most of you paid what 600-700 dollars for it, the PS5 Pro is about as powerful as a ~$600 4070 and they're charging you another $700 for it

The quality control of all devs is 30 fps. I'm playing Control in 1080p 30 fps in ps5 and i just slowed down i little the camera and are great. It's very fluid in my 120 hz tv. There's great slowed pace games in 30 fps like uncharted...is more about engine and quality control that anything else.

People are wondering why there's a ps5 Pro and why it costs what it does and this is it right here. These consoles are tapped out already and 60FPS is just not gonna be achievable in many modern games and when it is they have to make massive sacrifices. To be fair while the consoles got way more powerful this generation a lot of the powerful instantly disappeared into higher frame rates and resolution. Expect this to be the norm for a lot of games is=f you have a base level console. You will be going back to 30FPS if you want a smooth and non-visually compromised experience.

@@xacvhFAs IDK what Sony promised but I can guess it was the moon. Console makers have been doing that since inception but reality has always been the same. There's no way a static console can keep up with the latest and in graphics rendering tech. Especially not when computer tech is still improving every year (may not always be true) and when the hardware wasn't even top of the line when it released 4 years ago. Not when they have to try and make a profit off the hardware. Driving resolutions that are multiples higher than they were in previous generations while doubling the frame rate that used to be standard on previous consoles all while trying to push next generation visuals is just too much to ask of 4 year old $500 dollar console in 2024 it is what it is. Now you can still play the games so there's that just expect a lackluster experience. People can't expect premium experiences for bargin basement prices. Only way every game reaches 60FPS on these consoles is if the Devs do some major dumbing down of visuals / game play and then players would complain about that so damned if you do damned if you don't if you are a game maker.

And I'd be tearing my hair out if I had to compromise the graphics for 60fps on playstation. Whereas I can play 50-80 FPS range with high graphics on the PC

I mostly use quality mode anyway, I disagree with ppl who say fps > gfx. They say visual quality means nothing if the gameplay isn't smooth. For me it's what does high frames matter if it looks like shit? That's not why I have a PS5 and high-end TV. And yes it is very noticeable on most games. The games look flat on perf mode, you can't unsee if you see it, no depth.
