As much as i don't like them,this is not CONami. This is a different deveoper that bought the License to CONami to make their own interpretation of the franchise. Konami's involvement here is just selling the license, that's it and there's 3 more studios that bought that license. So expect varying qualities of interpretations. I'm already skeptical knowing they're licensing their IP to any bidder and my senses didn't disappoint.

Well the company making this game definitely existed long before they got to do this for Silent Hill. Silent Hill used to be a great series, and fortunately we can remember the games that were. I still remember playing Silent 1 through 4 and the time I spent with them, less time in SH4 admittedly, but they're some of the best horror games out there. After 4 the series took a nosedive for me, and they seemed intent on just mimicking the success of 2, from the stories that seemed to just be cheap imitations, to the gameplay that went from "awful" (Homecoming) to "why are you wishing pain on me?" (Downpour). I'll probably carry my memory of SH1-4 forever, but ... there's so many horror series now and creative developers, a lot indie, that... do we even need Silent Hill anymore? They've done so little good with it for the last 20 years and this is what they've come up with? REALLY? I'm ready to just let Silent Hill go personally and have been for a while. Sell the IP, or retire the series. Just focus on GOOD ports of 1 through 4 on console and PC and go from there. For this game, fuck Konami and fuck the greedy ass CEO playing apologetics on twitter. Cope harder, your "game" is trash. The fact the CEO thinks "millions" will watch this shows his level of utter delusion. This isn't Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones levels of quality and hype. You would be lucky if, in a month, you have 5k watching daily.

People have really forgotten how bad Konami as a company is. Guys, Konami outsourced Silent Hill to western devs in the late 2000s and early 2010s and those games ranged from okay to absolute dogshit. Bloober team's games are just okay, their writing is absolutley atrocious, and they've confirmed to be updating SH2's story. So far, Konami have released two games this year that have been disasters.

I knew this just wasn't going to be my thing from the very first announcement. During the Silent Hill transmission last year, I was very quickly overcome with a sense of dread regarding how disgustingly corporate and robotic this particular announcement was. I just honestly didn't expect it to come out worse than a porta-potty on the fifth day of a psychedelic music festival. Silent Hill needs to be taken from Konami and given to someone who will either give a shit, or let it rest in peace.

About the minigame: I think what happens is that the character just lost "Hope", he doesn't get killed or survives that part. For some reason they just show you if you cleared that part compared to the community. But he still losses Hope for the show. But overall: This is the worst thing in gaming I've seen in a long time (might even be all time nr.1) and I can only hope this gets cancelled after a short time. Even Book of Memories looks like a banger compared to this.

It's being developed by Bloober Team, a developer who have made some experimental style horror games in the past. Also teased last year with a 3 minute trailer. Ascension is this bollocks

If you take into consideration that Silent Hill has basically been dead for almost 20 years now (since 4 was the last actual Silent Hill by team silent and everything after it ranges from "meh" to "ugh") it is really impressive that ascension does this. Being able to kill the dead is no joke

There’s something about the first four games that corporate just cant understand or grasp. True psychological horror. These new games are completely soulless, and this is isn’t even a game really. I think the true feeling of terror and isolation is lost on these executives. They either don’t respect the message of the original source material, or don’t care. It’s almost like they’re trying to bury those games in a sea of obscurity. Who hurt you Konami? Those games were FINE ART. Absolute gems, expressionist masterpieces. Why can’t they make the same approach that Team Silent did?

"Killing the franchise" Implies they hadn't killed it already. It was arguably in full downward spiral for Homecoming and the Month of Madness Triple-Threat of Book of Memories, Downpour, and HD Collection was the killer. P.T. was just the final nail. Honestly, seeing this "revival" project include a SH2 remake and a movie with Christoph Gans directing it already lowered my expectations. My faith in an SH2 remake isn't low because of the team, per se (I have literally nothing against their past games which I never played), moreso after a string of SH games that more or less aped SH2's concept (regarding to a character's past trauma) in some way years ago, a remake that would likely take the same route but officially gave me absolutely no hope. I'm not even a hardcore SH fan, I just had no real faith in Konami

I would have rather heard of Japan getting an exclusive Silent Hill Pachinko than us get Silent Hill Ascension. I have no idea how fitting Silent Hill F will feel, but surely it will be better than this, especially considering it's written by Ryukishi07. As for Silent Hill 2 Remake? I want them to take as much time as they need for it. Unlike most of the SH fanbase and others, I actually really liked the games I played from Bloober Team. With proper direction, I feel they can do a remake of SH2 justice. And if they don't, I'll just go back to Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition for PC.
