This movie was such a wasted opportunity. Adelaide Clemens was so *PERFECT* for the role of Heather and they completely blew it. They literally managed to take one of the darkest, if not *THE* darkest game of it's time and turned it into some f*cking cheeeeeesy ass Hocus Pocus movie.

Personally, the first one was only a modicum better than this one. Neither of the two were good adaptations of Silent Hill in the end. The problem is that Silent Hill is not an easy franchise to adapt to film. While I agree the first film is a decent attempt, it also failed in so many ways. Critical ways. Some things just can't be transferred between mediums properly. Silent Hill is and example of such a property.

I got Silent Hill 3 for a birthday gift as a teen and it had the soundtrack on a separate disk. I absolutely loved their music. They always managed to make good music. And I played the game so many times. And was so excited they were making another movie. But then I saw the trailer and then some scenes and I was disappointed. I never played the first game but watched the movie and loved it so now I understand the people who were upset with the first movie not being as good as the game.

@@jose3scoto oh definitely. I loved the first movie. But you have those ppl that complain how the movie is nothing like the game and think it's not as good as the game. Since I never played Silent Hill I never had that feeling. And playing the 3rd Silent Hill and watching the movie I can say I understand those people. The only thing that was good were the monsters. I know I shouldn't judge a movie based off the game but if I took this movie separate It from Silent Hill and treated it as just a movie I still just didn't enjoy it.

There's literally no way a movie will ever be as good or better than the game it's based on (games have a lot more runtime to develop and get you invested, plus they're more personal and immersive experiences). However, the first SH movie was brilliant and by far my fav game based movie. Even with the plot changes, it still managed to feel like SH and I appreciate that a lot. However, I think those changes made adapting the 3rd game even harder. And at some point they just stopped trying and made it a 3D gimmick film. Which is sad cause SH3 is my fav game in the trilogy

@@Speed4RunsI just went to gamestop one day got Silent Hill 3 for a cheap price and when I opened it it had the music track. And I didn't really listen to it bc I was a teen and didn't appreciate soundtracks but now I do bc those songs are so beautiful and have such meaning.. and I got things pretty quickly as a teen who read books and played video games and understood deep meanings. Although it was like a summary version so i didn't know the WHOLE story. But when I deeply got into KZbin I watched Gab Smolders play the first game and I just liked how the two connected nicely. But Silent Hill 3 will be my love bc it was the only Silent Hill game I played. But watched her also play Silent Hill 2 and loved that one too.

@@Speed4Runs Well, as someone who has played the games for years and enjoyed the first film when it first came out, i'm the kind of person that doesn't judge too much on the material despite..what..i just..said..before 🥴 (i mean, i do get mad when they give us garbage) but because i already know that when things are adapted to films (specially video games) they never are exactly accurate i will still watch and enjoy them to a degree, hence why i like the first film, maybe its because it brings a certain nostalgia that makes me think of it as amazing, and some elements that for me just..work? Idk thats my opinion, and well, i think the Heather actress had the best face to go with, yeah she wasn't a teenager but i doubt they would have casted a real teen for such material if they had done the film the way the game is at that time in 2012.

I feel permanently trapped in some time around 2009 or so. It's like the world stopped advancing past that era. Gaming, movies, music, even world events seem to be dead since then. I'm a DIE-HARD Silent Hill fan but even I didn't really know what to expect when it came to this movie. I had somewhat high hopes considering how incredible the first film adaptation was from 2006 (despite being slightly flawed) but considering I saw it in theaters when I was only 10 years old, it blew me away. I wanted to love this one just as much as I did the first one but was disappointed. However I still didn't think it was as terrible as everyone else was saying, nor did I loathe it. Sure it was even more flawed than the first one, but at least it still has some redeeming qualities to it. From what I read, the entire production was troubled from beginning to end and the director had huge struggles with trying to film it in 3D (which is quite common). Not to mention the script had to literally be rewritten on set, and more than a couple things had to be changed, etc. So it wasn't entirely her fault per say nor was it the fault of the actors either because they certainly tried to do their best.
