thats new for me too - didnt recognize that the TWOS-Mod gives you manually control for the diveplanes. Have to test this! thanks & greetings ;D

I can't never get the dive planes to work. I've done several fresh installs of the game and TWoS and auto is the only way the dive planes will work. It's the same with changing the color of the different tools on my map. I can do it, but the color never shows. It's all just black lines and circles and such.

it's disappointing that the depth keeping is so fundamentally broken in SH5. And this was not solved by TWoS? I did a quick google and saw some fix by TheDarkWraith from 2011 but I guess for some reason this was not incorporated into TWoS.. so during underwater travel are you constantly adjusting the depth setting/dive planes/ballast?

No I´m not. Don´t get me wrong, depth keeping works, your dive plane operators will keep the boat at the depth you set without problems. The Issue is that they use their diveplanes to do that instead of properly trimming the boat. That really slows you down. Therefore I prefer to set the diveplanes to 0 and to trim manually in situations where I think I might need the speed and acceleration. It is really unfortunate that the dive mechanics in SH5 are completely unrealistic.

@@Tonci87 ok yea - I see - but 1.3 knots is lame compared to 2kts silent in SH3. I'm used to getting my 2kts at ahead slow, and moreover the captain should not have to be tinkering with the diveplanes in a standard situation.

@@Tonci87 yea I'm coming to grips with the idea that there is no perfect ww2 subsim and may never be. I would have run back to SH3, but now that I've discovered Real Navigation, I'm realizing that my SH3 attack method was totally unrealistic and depended on GPS (even with no map contacts). Because real nav is not available for SH3, I"m between a hard place and a rock. But I think I will make due with SH5 and give it a chance. Not sure if I"ll be able to tolerate the constraint of the mission structure, but if so I might do a YT series. I have to rewatch your tutorials though.

There are still some bugs present from the stockgame, but nothing that really disturbs the gameplay. Silent Hunter 5 with the Wolves of Steel Mod is very enjoyable.

I fixed that by now. New videos are recorded with a new Microphone. I will return to Silent Hunter in the not too distant future, so keep an eye out for that :)
