LINER NOTES:
This has always been a favorite of mine. I'm really happy with how this turned out, both video and audio. I hope you enjoy it as well. This was a slow burn. I recorded the vocals back in February, 2021, and the whole project just sort of sat there for a year, until we dusted it off and finished it.
Thanks to Mary Ann Fryar for being such a big supporter during the "only live streams" days. This song is always one of her requests. I had the pleasure of meeting her after my Charlotte show last year. Very sweet soul. Thank you, Mary Ann. I wish you every happiness.
And a special thanks to Tom Lopshire. He financed this video shoot. We did it on a tight budget, but still, his support is very appreciated. Tom has also been a hero, helping support my family with regular commissions, where he would give me a list of songs, I would pick one, and he'd pay me $500 to learn it and perform it on a live stream. Made a huge difference the past two years. I'm still a full-time musician in part thanks to the generosity of people like Tom. Thanks again, Tom!

I have to confess to never having heard of Mike before. I was listening to cover songs from various artists and this video was suggested to me. I have been a fan of Queensryche since their first release in 1983. I have heard countless covers of Queensryche's songs over the years but this is easily the best cover I have heard of their music. The musicianship and performance here is top notch, showcasing how fantastic this song is. You have earned yourself a new fan.

This could be one of the best covers ever recorded. It has the classic Mike Massé treatment; it has great fidelity to the original, with impeccable attention to phrasing and composition, but it’s Mike’s version. He owns it. His voice evokes but never merely imitates. This great gift brings covers to life in a way that often transcends the original, but nevertheless pays great tribute to the source material. In this case the cover must still bask in the shadow of one of the best power ballads ever written. But as covers go, this one is in the pantheon. Geoff Tate would approve, I imagine.

Mike, amazing work here. Followed you since back in the day with your Toto cover blowing up. Completely blown away by this cover. I was actually born in USSR (Now Ukraine, Kyiv), my Father got our whole family out before the fall of USSR back in '89. I remember my Father introducing me to Queensrÿche as a kid. While many don't know in USSR you weren't able to listen to music like this, so he would get the vinyls and later cassettes (Illegally at the time), first for himself being a big fan of the classic rock, and later sharing with me after I was born. Introducing me to bands such as the Beatles, Queensrÿche, Led Zepplin and much more. Taking him to see you live in NYC next year, look forward to seeing you live!
