Here's my respectful critique/observation regarding Diamond David Lee Roth. When he was a youngster in Van Halen, his frontman shtick -- which was brilliant at the time -- was so over-the-top, cartoonish, and oozing out the male rock star sexual bravado. His tight outfits, the gyrations, the high kicks, the sexual innuendos, the showing off of his hairy chest ... it was an act that worked wonders for him and the band. But now he's a mature man in this clip from 2013, and he's intelligent enough to know that if he were to attempt that same-old shtick now that he would look ridiculous. And he'd be correct in such thinking. Without that Diamond Dave character, though, he looks lost on stage. He comes off as a frontman without an identity. He seems out of place.
