My elderly neighbor Bill was discovered deceased on Christmas Eve. I went over to give him Christmas desserts and he never answered the door. My other neighbor was concerned, and called the police, as he hadn't been seen in a long while. I last saw him Thanksgiving, when I delivered him a plate to eat. He lived alone, but had a dog he loved so much. The dog stayed in the backyard and survived on fallen fruit during this time, and she went out of state to live with extended family once he was discovered passed-on. Bill had passed away in his bed, probably after taking a nap, age 82. I hope he knows he wasn't alone and people cared about him; I would check on him from time to time, to make sure he was okay and keep him company. People get older, many get forgotten as the years goes on by - I wanted to make sure, he wasn't another elderly person forgotten about, in this already lonely world. He had a good sense of humor and was a goofy, good ol' guy. Merry Christmas Bill. Edit: When I watched this video, I felt such a sadness. Somewhere within, I think I was in sought, to just say in a place, somewhere, anywhere, words to lay down my final good-bye to Bill, because he never had a funeral for me to say them to him. I just needed to say "Good-Bye". I never expected so many kind people to reply in-kind. I've read now, so many wonderful, beautiful, heartfelt replies to Bill's passing and every single one has been a light in the time where there was a feeling of loss. I want to thank so many in the replies that have posted. You're all people that are so blessed to be so kind and open, and good hearts all over the world that need you, I'm certain of it. Thank-You! :)

9 years ago, i was sick and bedridden in hospital. I heard this song while my father took care of me in the hospital. 1 years ago my father got stroke and was coma for 3 months. So i play this song when i took care of him. Suddenly i saw his hand twitching, and feels like he's trying to say something but he cant. The next day my father died in his room, and i wasnt there. I really feel that i should've stayed longer. Goodbye father. This song will always remind me of my father.

My condolences to you. 30 years ago, I had an accident. When I woke up from the surgery my father sat there - unexpectedly: he had traveled hundreds of kilometers to be there for me. And when the pain from the screws in my bones set in, he ran to get me anaesthetics. It was the closest I ever felt to my father. Fast forward a decade, I moved 10.000 KMs away from him - over the years I traveled back several times - always on alarm that he might die. When he finally did he did so in the few minutes my mother left him to pick me up from the train station. A hospice counselor at the time, I knew that people often die when we leave them alone. On one occasion, I even left the room so that my patient no longer needed to hold on. Sometimes, leaving them alone is the best thing we can do for them. :-)

I feel sorry for you. May your father rest in peace... Curiously this song brings me memories about my dad as well. About 15 years ago, none of my brothers were in home so my dad took only me out for a dinner and we never did that again. I remember that after the dinner we went to a buddhist ceremony. I was very impressed. While returning home, this song played in the radio and there's a magic feeling that matched this unique episode in my life. I think that's why I've never forget it's name when the radialist told it.

When I die, I want this to be played, it's such a perfect piece of music. One of lost hope, loves gone by, regret, hope for the future, long walks home, the sand beneath one's feet, autumn leaves staining a white pair a trainers, a need to run, to feel the wheat fields feel the slipping grasp of your hand, the need to look towards the sun, to feel happy within sadness, to live while you're young. i felt alone on christmas eve, this music reminds me how much some people are able to deliver such mind-soothing music. i miss my bowie boy and i miss having a strong family.

I was like 13 the first time I watched the movie and to this day, every time I see the first snow of the season this is the song that comes to mind. Such a haunting piece.

Sakamoto almost died of cancer and Bowie has just passed makes this even more poignant. Truly one of the greatest pieces of music ever written. This always brought tears from the films story and now w the passing of David Bowie emotions rush forth.

37 years ago I heard this beautiful piece and it touched my heart never to hear it again until yesterday. I close my eyes and am reminded of my youthful imaginings. Hello my old friend, so glad to hear you again...again.
