Monotype Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
(1) If a Pokémon faints, it must be permanently boxed or released.
(2) Only the first type-specific Pokémon encountered in each Route/Area can be caught.
(3) No Legendaries/Mythicals, duplicates, or same-evolution-line Pokémon can be caught or used. If a duplicate is encountered, the next unique type-specific Pokémon encounter can be caught.
(4) Additional Pokémon may be caught for the purpose of HM use, but these may not be used in battle at any time during the run.
(5) No Items can be used in battle (Held Items are allowed).
(6) Party Pokémon levels are limited to the highest level Pokémon of the next Gym Leader or Elite 4 Member. So long as your Pokémon are at or below the level cap when the Gym Leader/Elite 4 Member battle starts, they can level up mid-battle.

Silph, I have an interesting idea on a nuzlocke... if you're willing to cheat on one of it's rules, but here's the catch... reset any encounter to it's beneficial nature of your liking, but all Pokemon in your party must have a self-destruct/ explosion in your move set leaving you only 3 viable moves(even if they can't learn it naturally but can via TM as well). Any gen with this particular plethora of encounters!

Just a note on Koga there, Haunter actually is a ridiculous hard counter to his team. Koga only has Normal and Poison moves which Haunter is immune to or quad-resists. You can just slowly wear Koga out, or give Haunter your Psychic TM to make the process faster. You even have Curse to get the jump on Muk before he minimizes too much And the best part is that you can guarantee Ghastly on the Pokemon Tower by using Repel to keep Cubone out, so literallly any FRLG Nuzlocke can make use of this. The Psychic TM is a bit of an investment but the premier uses of the TM learn it naturally at some point.

Not to be weird but Gengar was level 70 at the end of lance and you had 6 mons in your party, and then you went into Gary fight with 4 pokemon and Gengar was level 72. Did you wipe and then rechallenge and make it to Gary with the 4 remaining mons in your party?

I always suspect that he rechallenges fights in other videos so I would say definitely yes. He always talks about situations with his luck being "bad" but he gets crazy good luck in the footage that he does show, likely because we only see the battles with good rng. His knowledge of the game and planning aren't as good as others who do hardcore nuzlockes like FlygonHG so maybe he's just trying to keep up in terms of entertainment

FYI when going against wheezing you mentioned you were hoping for the defense drop with brick break. But that would be rock smash that lowers defense. Brick break removes barrier and light screen

Ive said b4, but I myself have also done a poison run in FrLg. I didn't use the nido lines as teaching them moves can be very annoying as some aren't available as king/queen. And I avoided Gengar since I could only get a Haunter. 1 bonus rule I added was every pokemon had to always have a poison move.

Recently beat this challenge and my final team was Venusaur, Nidoking, Venomoth, Tentacruel, Gengar and Muk. For everyone else doing a poison monolocke on this game I recommend having Toxic and Leech Seed on Venusaur, and teaching Haunter/Gengar Psychic and Thundebolt. This was my first monolocke and I had alotta fun with it, looking forward to do more

Building Gengar with ATK evs just to handle Psychics with it's ghost type attacks was a costly mistake. It might helped in the mid game, but the end game was more difficult due to Gengar missing some one-shots with Psychic Beedrill's Twin Needle should be the answer against opposing Psychics in mid game, it's death was preventable Should send in Beedrill early against Blue on a weakened Pidgeotto to deal with Kadabra and Execute later. The Kadabra danger on the SS Anne was a warning for the future, yet the same play was employed for the next fight at Pokemon Tower, finishing Pidgeotto with Arbok out again.....

I'm doing a mono poison team in leafgreen right now. The best thing about poison types in kanto is they can't be poisoned by opposing trainers with poison types. Which seems to be at least half of the trainers in kanto. Also, brick break doesn't lower defense, you're thinking of rock smash
